Mexican cooks making sushi should be a crime! This place looks good but fails to deliver food quality, and the food service is not good either.

This is a Hibachi place, they cook the food in front of you, we waited about 30 mins. to be seated, then once we were seated a waitress came out took our dink order and food order then we waited about 20 mins before we even saw the chef guy. Once the chef guy came out he had seemed to forget certain items, it seemed like he just wanted to cook the stuff and then leave, he didn’t really put on a show like all other Hibachi places I’ve been too have. The food was ok, he over cooked my friends fish, and the«fried rice» had too much sauce(soy sauce?) in it, so it had a strong sodium taste. The waitress WAS attentive with our drink orders.

Perfect place for a girl’s night, date night, or special occasion. Try the hibachi steak and shrimp, delicious! You can’t go wrong here.

I go to Tokyo often, my favorite things are the sushi and then the chicken and shrimp Habachi, I always get octopus sushi or eel sushi sometimes the calamari. It’s very fresh and very tasty although the eel is a little slimy later in the week I have noticed. The weight staff take forever to bring your drinks but the sushi is always fast and the cute little chefs always make me and my friends laugh! Over all I like Tokyo and the food is great a little pricey but it’s good!

Excellent onion soup and consistently well made steak hibachi. The chefs are funny and courteous. Most remember our food allergies.

Poor service. We had to wait almost 40 minutes just to get something to drink. Appetizers were given out before the drinks. The drinks tasted like water. When we finally got the food, it was good.

Stopped here over the weekend and everything was fantastic. They were really busy so we had to wait for a table but we seated promptly and the food and service were all top notch. A great stable in SETX.

Spent our New Years Eve here, what a mistake. Service was horrible, the server forgot to bring drinks. Then after 45 minutes she delivered half of the sushi rolls our party of 4 ordered, we at that point asked if we could have our drinks. After another 2 minutes we finally got them. Then the chef showed up. Horrible… the hibachi vegetables were all onions I literally had one cube of zucchini on my plate and my husband had four cubes. The others at the grill had about the same as we did. My husband ordered steak and scallops, he got the steak, after the chef was cleaning up his grill he asked my husband how he liked his scallops, to which he replied I don’t know I didn’t get them. Chef started searching furiously for the scallops and said well I cooked them. No our entire table replied not at this table you didn’t. Chef left and came back with scallops, tossed them on the grill for 3 minutes then put them on his plate and asked if they were ok. No, they were cold in the middle, chef took them back on the grill for 3 more minutes and put them back on the plate. Never apologized or anything they were not edible. My tuna was cooked dry no sauce. Worst experience ever and we used to be regulars here.

My girlfriend wanted sushi for lunch so we decided to go to Beaumont’s sushi place. Poor service. Felt rushed. Guy didn’t ask my girlfriend what she wanted and assumed she wanted what she simply asked about. Came around picking up the soy sauce bottles like if we weren’t eating. My gf asked for napkins and he never brought them. Food wise: Don’t ask for lemons — disgusting. Messed up my order. Raw fish on my girlfriend’s sushi was looking a little past date. Not good. Won’t be going back.

I tried few sushi bars around Houston and tell you the truth not one came close to the taste of Tokyo. Around Beaumont it is a number one spot for excellent sushi and hibachi. For people that never been there give it a try, hibachi is great experience, if you never ate sushi before ask for an advise from a waiter and try few things that are cooked first than explore further. My husband and I love it and he used to be a harsh critic of sushi but now he is the one to drag me to eat there!

The food is generally ok, but service… not so much! We had to wait over 30 min for the chief to start on our table. No one from staff acted like anything was wrong and simply ignored us. They didn’t even have the courtesy to extend an apology! I guess they don’t care if the lose a customer or two!

Not sure what all the hype is about. Went here for date night, had to get up and ask hostess could they find us a server to get drinks started. Server finally showed up not apologizing and acting like it was the last place he wanted to be. Food was not impressive, the sushi was falling to pieces and the place had screaming heavy metal music… Definitely going to try Koi next time.

Well they are a little pricey but too bad. Great show for people who have not seen it before. I took a friend out and his kids, they loved it. Them cooking the food in front of you, everyone loves it but I have seen the show enough I don’t care to see it anymore. Their lunch is better priced and quite good, check it out. I typically order the Scallops, but I have had almost everything on their habatchi menu Steak, Duck, Calamari, chicken, shrimp, pretty much everything. I prefer the steak, shrimp and most of all Scallops. Love the Onion soup(don’t the get salad, get the soup!) and their fried rice is great.

Big Town Hibachi in Small Town Beaumont! Let me put it to you this way, I am usually not a fan of any type of food style ending in –ese but this restaurant does it for me! The staff is very professional and typically attentive to drink refills. The menu has a vast selection of items you can get on the grill and sushi menu. The cooks prepare your food in almost akin to a broadway production, well choreographed and very artsy. Atmosphere is comfortable business casual is a must! Décor is very fitting and neatly organized. Definitely a great date night or business meeting location. The only cons of the place is the wait for your table, however well worth the wait. Also, the prices do jump up during the evening and on the weekends. It is best to go during the week for lunch as the prices are much more reasonable. Be sure to try the ginger sauce and the Dax sauce. I actually take the ginger sauce and dump it on the fried rice, it tastes delicious! Give it a try, like I said I’m a picky eater but love the food!

Went to the northside location with a larger group. I thought the food was bad. They used a huge amount of butter on the table-fried food — way too much. The sushi was, literally, the worst I’ve ever had. The saving grace was the waitstaff. The server gracefully put up with an obnoxious, hormonal man in our party, the bartender was outgoing, and the cook was friendly and entertaining. On a Friday night, the place was popping. I might go back, but will stick to the drinks.

This review is for takeout only. The menu has a lot of options, maybe even too many options. Our order consisted of seaweed salad, spicy salmon hand roll, spider hand roll, OMG roll, Asian Cajun roll, Diablo spicy tuna Maki, and another roll I can’t remember the name of. The maki was warm, but I think that’s the way it was supposed to be. I just didn’t know. The green sauce that came with it was SPICY, on the order of a serrano. My husband was pleased. All of the rolls were good and had a wonderful variety. I called in my order, got dressed and drove the half mile to the restaurant and my food was already ready. Minus one star for the not-very-nice girl working the take out window, the weird Maki roll(I wish it would have said it was warm on the menu), lack of variety on the nigiri/sashimi(amber jack is my fave) and even though this is totally unfair, because it doesn’t meet the standard for quality set by my favorite sushi place back home.

I have been here several times, trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. The service is consistently lackluster if not downright sluggish, and the sushi leaves a lot to be desired. Last month, my mother ordered a salad, and saw several small insects crawling all over it. They looked like fruit flies or gnats. Not wanting to cause a scene, she politely asked that it be exchanged for the soup instead… and they charged her for it! We won’t ever be back.

My boyfriend and I settled on Tokyo for our New Year’s Eve dinner. He’s had little experience with Asian food in general, with his only time being a hibachi grill in Houston. They had a great deal going on for New Year’s Eve, with a free bottle of champagne when you spend at least $ 50 on two hibachi dinners! To start off the night we ordered some sushi. I love sushi but it was his second time having it(he wasn’t thrilled about the first time, so I was anxious). We ordered the crunch roll, and it came out first. It was perfect. Both of us loved it so much! Dinner was next. I ordered the teriyaki chicken and he had the bonsai special(lobster and steak). The onion soup was amazing — probably the best I’ve had at any hibachi style place. The chef came out and while he was entertaining, he wasn’t as engaging as some of the others I saw around the restaurant. All of the dinners came with a shrimp appetizer and he actually didn’t give me mine at all. I didn’t complain about it because it was New Year’s Eve but it was a bit disappointing because that’s amazingly delicious. Everything else we ordered was cooked to perfection, except the lobster was a bit tough — he said if he had the choice to do it over he’d have stuck with the steak. The service was top notch and my glass was never less than half full. Everyone was super nice and friendly, and the price — for the food you get — was very nice. It was around $ 62 for everything plus the sushi appetizer. I can’t wait to go back now that I’m moving to the area!

Tokyo, another Japanese Steakhouse. Delicious and Good! There are 2 locations and a 3rd opening up in Nederland/Port Neches area(TBA). They have different types of rolls from hand rolls to sets of 8 to 12 rolls of sushi that you can choose from! My sisters and I always order the crunch roll, rainbow roll, caterpillar roll and dragon roll. The grilled selection is pretty steep on price, so I would come during the lunch hours to get it for cheaper. My opinion is you should just ordered the pork/beef/shrimp/chicken fried rice of your choice because it’s the same as grilled selection minus the hibachi vegetables. PROS : — Good variety of sushi — Great Service — Convenient locations CONS : — Expensive(depending on what you order) — Dessert menu abysmal
