Chilo’s tacos are bomb, and I am a discerning taco eater. The huitlacoche(a corn fungus similar to mushrooms, considered to be a delicacy in Mexico) taco is delicious, the fried fish taco is also fantastic. I don’t actually love the indoor bar at Chilo’s but the outdoor patio and taco truck totally make up for it.

Haiku #10 Yo hambriento Nessecito comida Vamos al Chilo’s (My Spanish is poor) But my tastebuds are on point Like this taco fad Heard about this joint Rated 7th on foursquare For tasty tacos Popular venue Taco truck in the backyard Drinks are in the front The ‘yard is quite small Summer evenings fill in up They need to expand I came here to eat! I went with my amigo Taco connoisseur The smoked beef tacos Were dry and needed moisture But the sauces helped The fishy tacos Heavily disappointing Perhaps a bad batch? Chorizo tacos The best one of my order It is a safe bet I would come back here And revise this short haiku If necesario

Mmmm I’m all about Chilo’s! The girl who’s subletting for me said she chose my place because she’ll be closer to Chilo’s. Ha ha. Favorite taco: Huitlacoche AKA ‘corn truffle’ AKA corn fungus AKA corn smut! This taco from Chilo’s was my first introduction to the delicacy, and I go straight for it whenever I’m hungry at home. So much goodness and yumminess in each bite. Ingredients are fresh and flavorful. I love their sauces, particularly habanero. I’ve also tried their dangerous Triple XXX Brooklyn’s Hottest sauce… ha it’s not that hot! Staff works so hard! They are so awesome. I’ve never ordered drinks though.

This place has excellent Mexican food made in a little truck in a lot next to the attached bar. In the winter, it’s all covered over and heated around the truck. In the summer, it’s open. But anytime of year, it’s hipster central. I feel like I’m trapped in an awful episode of Girls each time I come here, which is part of the amusement, I suppose. It does make me feel ancient though. I’m generally a good ten to twenty years older than anyone there. I live close by, and the Mexican food is too good to pass up, so I battle the throng of hipsters and enjoy the people watching over cocktails. The tacos are killer. The chorizo torta is incredible, and what I order most of the time. Bring friends and order tons of stuff and share. The bar makes great and potent margaritas. I’ve tried both frozen and on the rocks and I can’t decide what I like more. My one complaint is that the bar and the taco stand, while the same business, operate separately. It would make sense if I could order a margarita and place my food order all at once. It’s two separate lines otherwise and it’s pretty annoying when it’s busy.

great torta sandwich in the back. good prices for drinks, and good vibe at the bar, negro modelo on draft is the way to go if your feeling like having a session. Not the perfect place for a cocktail and food, there are some spots that have a less chaotic décor and service style, but if your looking for a bit of a loud and fun spot to bring some friends, this is great.

Went to Chilo’s for a friends graduation party. Super chill place. I didn’t go inside to the actual bar but I stayed in the backyard with the awesome taco truck. Had a chicken, shrimp(sooo good) and fish taco(amaze!) for about $ 12. Not too bad. Everyone there was cool and laid back. Semi-hipstery, but not annoyingly so(no shade to hipsters… I love y’all, but sometimes…) anyway, I digress. Chilo’s is def a nice summer hangout that I will come back to.

BESTTACOSEVER! No, really. I want to eat them everyday. The outside patio area was pretty hot, but I don’t even care. All I could focus on was the meat in my mouth. The carnitas were so full of flavor. The shrimp had this lovely mango or something added. Eat everything with the avocado salsa. You won’t regret it. I may have eaten here twice. Within a 4 hour span. Don’t judge. Inside is casual and laid back. The Day of the Dead motif is fun. Decent drink selection.

I was looking forward to warm weather, just to hang out at Chilo’s again. ALL of the tacos are great(the nopales and chorizo are personal favorites), the drinks are nice-strong-and cheap AND they take card. Great vibe too. W’s all around. I’ll be here all summer!

This place is everything you’d expect from a cool spot in Bed-Stuy in 2016… Stuffy thirty-somethings, parents out on date night, and co-workers out for someone’s birthday. The food is bomb. Salted beef torta was incredible. I swear I’ve seen this place before in Long Island but I guess it used to be called Chillis before Chilos… Great food and drink. Only draw back is the clientele seeming like they incessantly use the phrase«awesome sauce.»

Love this place! Tacos are well prepared, the tortillas are perfect in every way always fresh and never rubbery. Filling choices are expertly prepared and authentic. We’ve tried just about every flavor and always come back to the pork belly and duck. The Bartenders are skillful mixologists who can throw together some mindblowing drink combinations. Always a fun place to hang out.

Same rating… but now I’ll include it all. Food and drinks. They clearly did some tweaking and fine-tuning to their cocktail menu. We came here during the huge snow storm and we were so very grateful that they were open. My favorite tacos are still the fish taco and the huitlacotche.

Cool, laid back bar with great tacos. I love its outside vibe with the food truck and picnic tables. I’ve tried the pork, chorizo, shrimp, fish and duck tacos. All are tasty but the seafood ones stand out to me. The shrimp has a slightly sweet, pineapple tasting topping, and the fish is lightly fried and very flavorful. Bartender and food truck staff are friendly. Reasonably priced. What’s not to like?

Lets be honest… you come here for the back patio. Cool neighborhood spot with killer margs(they don’t hold back on the tequila) and a very convenient taco truck to clench your tipsy cravings… oh and it takes cards! Awesome spot in the summer time. Covered in the winter — since this winter has been pretty mild you can get away with sitting out back. Warning though… the chorizo tacos are very very spicy. Tacos range from $ 3-$ 5 Tostada is $ 6

I’ve been meaning to try this place out for a long, long time now. Today seemed like the perfect day because I was locked outside the apartment and waiting for the roommates to get home. I had the nopales taco, which is basically a taco with cactus. CACTUS! I’ve never had anything quite like it before. The taco truck man described it pretty well – it tasted just like green beans but a little crunchier and the sauces and toppings were super yummy. Love the taco truck, disliked the bar. It seemed cool but the service seemed lacking. Based on the other reviews(and my roommate who’s been there a few times), the bartenders are the worst. Not that friendly and very slow. It wasn’t that busy, but for some reason there was me and three other people waiting for the bartender to serve us. Anyways, food was still good, drinks were pretty cheap and I can’t wait to go back to try more tacos~

Food truck and a bar. What else do you need! Their tacos are what tacos everywhere should be. First time I’ve ever had a pico shot was here, not sure if it exists anywhere else but it is AMAZING. I was on a pickleback shot kick for a while then the pico shot came along! It is basically a set of two shots; one pico de gallo juice and the second tequila. Delicious. Just ahh. So good. Margaritas are also good here. Their happy hour is $ 1 off cocktails, $ 3 cans. Awesome place to just come hang out. Luckily it’s only two blocks away from my apartment!

Coming from the owners of Mayfield’s and staffed by some of the best bartenders from Crown Heights, I had high hopes for Chilo’s. Not just a bar with a taco truck but a fantastic bar with an amazing taco truck, Chilo’s has become one of my favorite places to hangout. Having eaten 90% of the menu I can say the taco truck has no misses and quite a few hits. My personal faves are the shrimp taco, smoked beef taco and fish taco. They recently added a duck carnitas which is quite good and it’s hard to go wrong with chorizo. Priced from $ 3 to $ 5.50, the tacos are a great deal. The bar is good, great and dangerous. The good is the selections of beers and excellent cocktails. The great is the staff. Whether I know them from another bar or just met them here, I always feel welcomed. The dangerous is the frozen drinks and pico back shots. The pico back is basically a savory pico de gallo mix that taste so go you want to do more shots than you probably should. The frozen drinks are deceptively sweet and smooth but pack a major punch. The frozen margarita is always there and they rotate the other frozen drink. I do have two issues with Chilo’s. 1. taco truck closes too early for me(11pm) many a late night I want tacos but arrive too late. 2.The bar chairs are too big and backs too wide. Awkward to move when getting up and down, awkward to hang your coat on. None of this will stop me from coming back.

When you put tacos and margaritas together and throw in a cool outdoor space, magic happens. Chilo’s is a newer edition to Bed Stuy, and people still like the new kid. Drink wise I’ve had the frozen margarita and the amazing froze, which was made with rose and other yummy ingredients. Both were strong and so tasty, and the bartenders were more than friendly. Out back is where you can order tacos– I’ve tried the chorizo, mole, fish, chicken, and shrimp. Chorizo, fish, and chicken are my top three at the moment, and there is a topping bar so you can dress your tacos up as you want. The guys in the truck are also friendly and food comes out quickly. While it’s still nice out the backyard fills up fast – lots of groups. So many groups. But you can usually find a seat or make friends and squeeze in somewhere. They also accept cards at the truck, so order a round of tacos for your friends. I have no complaints about Chilo’s – here’s hoping the taco truck is active in the winter!

I tried this place because of a recommendation from a fellow helper. The first time I went I left satisfied I had the painkiller and sampled some tacos. While I was disappointed that they only use corn tortillas I wasn’t turned off returning. My most recent visit was not as pleasant as the first. Firstly the female bartender who was working that day completely ignored us as we were waiting to place an order. The worst part was another patron walked in after us, stood right in front of us as the bartender took the order. We were disappointed but decided to let it go as we were trying to have a good night. We ordered a painkiller and a margarita. We were told that the margaritas were not frozen yet and asked if we still wanted one. We said yes. The bartender proceed to make a margarita on the rocks. When we pointed out that we preferred that no frozen mix she was inflexible and stated«it is essentially the same thing.» We skipped on the margarita and kept the one painkiller because we felt bad about leaving that as well… I am always blown away by how customer service can completely make or break a business. I will not be returning again. There are way too many bars in New York City for me to be okay with this kind of treatment. The two stars are an average of the ratings from both visits. This last time was a one and the first time a four…

Incredible tacos and great frozen margaritas! The tacos range from $ 3 – 5 and you go out back to order them from a taco truck that’s been parked in their courtyard. There’s outdoor seating in the form of picnic tables and and an easy-going atmosphere. I went on a Friday night and the taco truck was open until midnight, which was fantastic, as my friends and I had gotten there around 10:30. We also didn’t have to wait very long for the tacos which was such a plus! I highly recommend the chorizo tacos! The taco truck also has a variety of sauces and toppings to put on the tacos once you’ve received them. Super delicious as they come right off the grill and piping hot. Also, the truck takes card so no needs to worry about having enough cash! Super friendly service too! In regards to drinks, we tried the watermelon mezcal slushy at first($ 9) but realized that it tasted a bit rancid. When we asked for the frozen margarita($ 8) instead, the bartender was incredibly nice and switched out our drinks for free. Overall great vibe and amazing food and drink. Highly recommend!
