Dead Fish Grill

The food was pretty good, but you are sitting on the lake and there is live music. That’s enough to bring me back!

Consistently bad food. I ordered fried fish and it was obviously frozen from a package. Hush puppies were tasteless and you can get better waffle fries at a fast food joint. The coleslaw didn’t just taste bad, it had «gone bad.» It’s gonna take awhile to get that horrible taste out of my mouth. If you come for the view, you won’t be disappointed. If you come for the food… well, just don’t!

Heard so many mixed reviews we decided to try it out ourselves. We decided to go with friends so 5 adults 2 toddlers. We asked for outside seating…50 min wait. We waited… and waited. The view is gorgeous and honestly it was a really nice relaxing place. The server was nice but did forget some basic things like getting kids drinks, refills, and took half the tables order left and came back for the rest… it was odd. First order food came out… then later the other.
We still had fun and enjoyed the scenery and company of friends.
Got the fish tacos they were delicious, kids plates our huge. If I had known we would of ordered one plate and split between the 2 kids. There one kid plate was bigger than my adult fish taco plate.
Catfish and shrimp was good also, friend got pasta she said she will stick with the tacos next time

I cannot comment on the food because we never got served. My girlfriend and I waited 15 minutes for a table, got sat and watched 4 other tables get seated and served. After 15 minutes of nobody even talking to us (despite me going to the bathroom, walking across the restaurant, pushing my empty water glass to the edge of the table, and being seated next to a wait station), we left. I made sure to stare at the manager and hostesses as we left, none of whom even spoke a word or acknowledged us.
Good job on running us out of there Dead Fish Grill. Perhaps next time… who are we kidding… you won’t care even if we do come back. At least that was the impression you left us with.

Overpriced, mediocre food with nice view and generally good staff. We live nearby and have frequented the restaurant over many years when friends choose. We do not ever go on our own, basically because it’s wanna-​be Texas gourmet but falls short.
I really like salmon and it is something very hit-​or-​miss to order out. Those who fail tend to fall into one of two categories… the ones who consider themselves 5-​star tend to undercook it. They seem to think it won’t get tough if it is served uncooked. The ones more like Denny’s tend to overcook it, because they just don’t want to take the risk of food poisoning. Dead Fish falls into the former, so you will pay more for your tough, flavorless salmon. But you will have a nice view!
If you go to HEB and get those salmon fillets in the little metal pans, bake them for the recommended ~20 minutes, you will have a MUCH better piece of fish. Then go to Dead Fish and order a Blue Moon and watch the sunset. As much as you’ll pay for drinks, you’ll be glad you saved the money not ordering rubber fish :)

Meh, I think the only thing that kept me from giving this place less stars was the view and friendly staff, plus they allow dogs on the patio.
I came here for brunch with a few friends before we headed on the boat, and the food was so disappointing; but i was already forewarned so we mainly came here for the drinks (carafes).
The parking lot may seem packed, but the space inside is huge and can seat plenty! Our group got a nice patio seat outside and had a great view of the lake.
For my entrée, I ended up ordering chicken and pecan waffles (as I usually order this for brunch if places offer it). The waffles were alright, but not light and fluffy as I’d like, and the chicken was so blah, it was just 3 pieces of chicken tenders that were so unforgettable. Not something I’d order again. My friends omelette was just as disappointing, so bland.
I’ll need to come back for lunch/​dinner and see if the food is better than, as the brunch was was really just blah.

Great view! The restaurant is super busy and the place can be a little chaotic-​well really chaotic. The servers and bartenders are really nice — but I feel like there may need to be a few more people working on Friday and Saturday evenings.
The food is good. I had the New Orleans Chicken –the crawfish and shrimp cream sauce was quite tasty. I’m glad I listened to my fellow Unilocalers. The boyfriend had the grilled salmon bacon spinach salad– he loves salmon and he loves salad so he was happy but he missed that the dish had feta cheese so he quickly moved that to my plate. All in all it was a good meal.
Definitely going again — I wish they would burn some citronella candles or use some other method to help keep bugs away.
