Clarks University of Martial Arts

Two years later and we are visiting during Spring break. Everyone has treated my son with support and warmth. Ryan runs a great gym and we should know. We have visited many, all over the US. This place deserves an A rating. As a parent, I saw much respect with an emphasis on education, safety and proper technique. Also, a giant dose of fun was included with the visit.

Clarks University of Martial Arts is a top notch high quality martial arts facility. I am highly impressed with the knowledge and skill level by Ryan and love the variety of classes offered as well as times. Ryan is humble, kind, charismatic, and very passionate about teaching. His students and academy are all welcoming and respectful, an extension of their professor. I am looking forward to joining and training full time with such a well rounded martial artist.

Initially, I went to Clarks to get my kids involved but ended up taking a Mon & Wed kickboxing class. Ryan is a F A N T A S T I C instructor! Please don’t be intimidated if you’ve never taken any martial arts. He is extremely engaging, patient and explains every move thoroughly visually & verbally so you’ll understand. I went in a little timid but after one class I was «eyes wide open» with excitement and reverted to being like a kid trying to soak up as much knowledge as I could!
The classes are exhaustingly ALIVE, by this I mean, along with exercising you are learning something your brain wants to process. Even if you just want to get in shape (like I initially did), you’ll end up getting more bag-​bang for your buck! I have become more focused, confident and sorry to repeat myself but it’s the best word to describe the feeling, «Alive!»
Not only do I have the highest respect for Ryan Clark, after taking his classes, I now have a higher respect for myself.
GOT KIDS???
Though my kids didn’t want to take any classes right now, I WOULD TRUST RYAN AND CLARKS UNIVERSITY WHOLEHEARTEDLY WITH MY CHILDREN. Along with what I’ve written above, the facility has very large windows facing the street, not closed off and parents are always sitting in watching classes.
Thought I’d add: Make no mistake if you are a veteran of the arts he is basically «over» qualified in the nicest way meaning he can get you to that next level or hone your skills. People take private one on one classes with him all the time but I’m sure his credentials and word of mouth around speak for itself.
As for me, I have temporarily retired my hand wraps for now to enjoy the summer with my family and hopefully look forward to getting back into the dojo/​studio soon.

Ryan is a great person and instructor, he really breaks it down to the details. He runs a clean well organized program and is highly skilled at his crafts. His kids program and how he runs it is truly awesome. I cant say enough about Ryan and this gym, Bend is truly very lucky to have them!

This is a family-​friendly martial arts business with an awesome instructor.
The building and interior is spacious and clean, well ventilated and has lots of room for spectators and students alike.
Owner and head instructor Ryan Clark is friendly and engaging. He is always positive and non-​critical. An accomplished martial artist, Ryan is approachable as an instructor, and welcoming to everyone-​from new or curious students to «seasoned» clients. He is great with children, in addition to adults, and the kid’s classes offered here are exceptional for building self esteem and confidence, provide good exercise, and squashing bullying concepts, for boys and girls alike.
This is a friendly place! The overall sense of community enthusiasm and MMA «co-​operation» is refreshing, and I really appreciate how his gym is open to anyone who wants to train, (despite prior or current gym affiliations) so long as they share his respectful views.

Ryan is my friend and mentor. He’s a rare combination of gifted martial artist and effective instructor. Whether you’re thinking about joining the academy for yourself or enrolling your kids, you’ll get a lot out of his instruction and the gym environment.

Beautiful Gym with an Excellent Instructor! I highly recommend NWMA Bend if your lucky enough to live in the area. My family is a NWMA Family.
