We have been needing a new bed for quite awhile couldn’t decide whether to stay with a queen or upgrade to a king. We have had our eye on the Pasadena bed at this place. After making a trip to Benicia Iron Works to check out all our bed options we came home with the Allison in a queen size. They didn’t have a Pasadena available, the Allison is just as pretty. It was easy for my hubby to assemble and it looks great! Lindsey greeted us with a great smile, very pleasant and helpful. These beds are made in Benicia. beautiful work!

I want to be clear from the start this is not about their indoor furniture, we have none, it is about their outdoor patio sets. Warning: get the warranty in writing! The finish on Benicia Foundry & Iron Works furniture delaminates. We purchased about $ 6,000 worth of their patio furniture and now the finish is deteriorating to the point that large areas of the rough underlying metal are exposed and thick sharp surrounding edges can cut skin when touched. We called the company to arrange a time when we could bring our table in for recoating, as they have done in the past with our chairs, but they refused to honor their guarantee. When we purchased multiple patio sets we were told they had a lifetime guarantee – our neighbor had two 8 year old sets completely refinished several years ago under the same guarantee – when I mentioned that fact, I was told that they no longer cover the finish beyond 2 years. The only lifetime guarantee is for construction. What a joke! What else other than surface coating could fail on a pricey piece of forged-​welded metal furniture?
We wanted to support a local business, but would have been much better off and happier if we purchased from a large reputable retailer that stood behind its products and claims. Or bought something at Costco and tossed it every 5 years.

Benicia Foundry was the answer after six months of online and in-​person research with no hope in sight. We have a California King bed and all we wanted was a low-​profile headboard that wouldn’t block a window.
We stopped by the showroom and looked at lots of beds that would work and they had 20 different finishes to choose from! Lindsay (who works on weekdays) is incredibly nice, knowledgeable, and professional. We got the Langley in aged sterling and it looks absolutely awesome in our craftsman home. It actually makes the bed look smaller, the room look bigger (miraculous) and there’s plenty of light that can get through with the metal frame.
This is a family business — in fact one of the brothers delivered the frame, was right on time (have you every heard of being given a HALF HOUR WINDOW for delivery??? How awesome is that?)
As a side note — it’s good to do your research online and look at the bedframes on their website before visiting the showroom. Then you’ll know exactly what you want to see in person because the sheer volume there can be overwhelming. All the measurements are online too. But I’ll tell you — I needed to know some extra measurements and Ken got them for me. I even gave them the exact measurements of my bedframe and the headboard installed perfectly and in about 5 minutes. The hardware comes with the frame too.
If it couldn’t get any better, I placed my order in July when all special orders were 40% off. Hazzah!

Just purchased the Homewood iron bed in brown rust… it has 8 birds on the headboard and is a brand new design. Ken was so helpful and answered all our questions. It was like a mini-​lesson in iron bedframes which we so appreciated. We came back the first day after looking around to make our purchase. Ken wrapped our frame carefully and completely. He had the frame (underneath part) in a box and all the nuts and bolts in a sealed bag. We came home and put it together… wow! What a great bed frame.
Do yourself a favor and check them out. Very good prices (instock merchandise is steeply discounted) and they go way out of their way to work a deal you can handle.

Great Showroom, Nice Staff, Always come through when I need new furniture.

The items I needed to buy aren’t made locally:
1. Wrought iron sink stand
2. Repairing my cast iron umbrella stand-​needs welding
3. The cast iron canopy I wanted isn’t available in queen size bed frame.
The one bed I do like will take approximately one month constructing so, the bed frame I purchase will surely be one of a kind: I do like the aspect not finding the bed frame I will purchase won’t be found in somebody else’s home!

Beautiful amazing quality and the nicest people in town. I can’t believe how beautiful our new iron bed is for our guest room. I wish I would not have purchased our master beed made from wood. There work is beyond perfect and gorgeous

I’ve shopped at the Benicia Foundry show room several times and always had a very good experience. It’s like Disneyland for beautiful period-​reproduction furniture and lighting. I purchased my bed there 15 years ago for well under half the retail price. Another fave is a charming, old-​fashioned street light which has been the centerpiece of my front garden for about 7 years. Both remain in perfect shape, including the lamp, which is completely unprotected from the elements. I only wish I needed a Tiffany lamp — the Foundry has gorgeous ones for very reasonable prices — i just have no place to put one.

This is an update to my earlier review of 04÷21÷13 & 04÷22÷13, that for some reason ended up filtered.
We received a nice card from the owner (Maryanne) on 05÷04÷13 saying she was sorry we had such a bad experience. While this doesn’t change the expense and inconvenience the whole experience was for us, it does show that Maryanne has class, and probably does regret everything we had to go through. She didn’t have to send us that card but she did, and we appreciate that fact.

Just bought an iron bed for my daughter. Very pretty and well put together. The showroom has every style of bed they make. The beds come in about 25 different finishes and at least as many styles. The on-​site sales staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Ordering over the phone is very easy and whenever I spoke to someone on the phone, they answered all my questions. The quality of workmanship is excellent. I’m sure the bed will last forever. They do custom orders and will make your bed to order. They also sell outdoor furniture, giant streetlights, lattices, tables. This stuff is quality handmade local stuff.

I found out about a cabin in Tahoe by googling «rustic cottages,» Then I found out about the Iron Works by staying at the Rustic Cottages in which they had great iron beds. THEN, I found out that the bed that I liked at Rustic Cottages was sold by a company in Benicia after visiting its showroom shortly after moving TO Benicia. and that’s where I found out that Benicia Iron Works owns Rustic Cottages. It’s the Benicia Bermuda Iron Bed Works Triangle.
This place has TONS of iron items — bed frames, birdbaths, cribs, patio furniture… anything you want to stay looking great for years without rusting, you can find at the Benicia Iron Works showroom.
I was impressed with the huge selection of bed frames they had — and so many of them were so reasonably priced! Although I haven’t purchased anything from them and thus cannot speak for the quality of the service in the process of ordering items, I CAN attest to the fact that the quality of the beds is high. Plus, you’re buying locally crafted items made of IRON. awesome.
