My boyfriend always brings home delicious cheesecakes from this place. I especially love that it’s topped generously with fruit. I highly recommend the cheesecake!

Alain has fulfilled all our dessert orders and cravings in the past 4 years and we, and our friends lucky enough to partake his extraordinary creations haven’t been disappointed. His creations have always been exquisite and of very high quality. The Sunday Kensington Farmers Market where you will find Alain and his wife, Grace with their weekly supply of fabulous goodies is a destination trip no one should miss.

We’ve been buying croissants and pain au chocolate from this bakery’s stall at the Kensington farmers’ market for several months now. I like that they’re light and flaky and not too large. The chocolate is bittersweet, my preference, rather than semisweet. Today when we stopped by the farmers’ market I stayed in the car w/Jordin while Alan went in to shop. I asked that he pick up the bakery’s card so I could review it. He came back not only w/a card, but two flans for dinner, one spinach and feta(French feta, which is smooth and elegant), the other mushroom and garlic, each in its own little plastic clamshell. They were $ 6 apiece. Tonight we had the flans for dinner. I had the spinach and feta and Alan had the mushroom and garlic. I adored mine. It reminded me a little of a cottage cheese omelet my mom used to make for dinner on nights when my dad was working late, because she felt it an unsuitable dinner for a man. It was a light fluffy dish that wasn’t strictly an omelet, but was a favorite of mine, crispy and buttery on the edges. The flan had that same lovely textural contrast and buttery taste to the edges, while having more sophisticated ingredients. Alan found his a little too salty for his low sodium diet, so I will probably have the rest of it for dinner tomorrow or another night. I look forward to it. The bakery’s website is under construction and should be finished soon, I understand. I wasn’t sure where it’s physically located, but the phone number has an East Bay prefix. Because I couldn’t post this review w/o a city, state and Zip, I took a guess and put Berkeley. Turns out I was right. Unilocal added the address. The baker, Alain Shocron, can be reached at or at . Currently this is the only farmers’ market where he sells his wares, but they are definitely worth the price and a bit of travel.
