acme subzero repair scheduled an appointment and never showed up. no call. I think he wasn’t happy because I asked him for a price quote for a gasket repair and he seemed really reluctant. told me the technician would analyze the problem and let me know the price.

I wish I looked at reviews before I called this company to service my subzero refrigerator. They charge $ 75 service just to drive to your house, they then charged me another $ 225 for service to work on the frig. They charged me more than they should for the part. The man also told me he had to come back another time to do more repair. I had a bad feeling about it and called another company to do the second service call. Yes I was skrewed. I would NEVER use this company again

I called Acme to come and fix my ice maker. The serviceman, showed up 3 hours late and was very condescending. He spent ten minutes fiddling with the light switch and then spent the next 20 minutes on his cell phone. After spraying freon over my condenser, he sat down at my kitchen table and asked me how much I paid for my appliances. When he gave me my bill, it was for $ 200, and he didn’t fix anything. He told me it was for maintenance and expensive freon. He became increasingly hostile as I argued with the price, and I became very uncomfortable with him being in my home as I was alone with my children. Don’t use ACME Appliance Repair!

My experience has been drawn out over the past year with two prior repairs by this company, which have only been temporary fixes for the SAME problem. The first repair that was done, I watched the serviceman perform the repair & asked questions about what was wrong during the process. He told me it was too complicated to explain without a course in appliance repair/engineering & that he didnt have time for that. Odd. He ended up defrosting ice & installing a new motor. I’m a therapist with a masters degree & work on my own car. I think I can grasp the basic mechanics of a motor failure & icing causing havoc with moving parts over time. However, the problem has recurred a third time now & since the motor is under warranty from them, I called yesterday to schedule a time for repair. The guy said he would have a serviceman call me to schedule a time to come by after 530pm. No one called. Today I tried calling again & was assured the serviceman would come between 3−5pm. It is now 10 past 6pm & no one has called/shown. I left a voice message on the machine letting them know I was writing this & going with another company in the future. I would strongly recommend you save yourself the trouble & time by using a more reliable company who gets it right the first time.

I would have to say Nazz is probably right. I called and got a guy on a cell in Santa Barbara. I needed my commercial kegerator fixed. the guy being in Santa Barbara tells me go to there website and fill out an appointment form there. I set up an appointment for the following day. The next day a guy shows up comes in and stares at the thing like he has never seen one before. Well apparently he didn’t. He told me he doesn’t know how to work on these things and that he would call his boss and have them send another guy out. I was busy doing things around the house for a party the following day. About an hour and a half go by. I think i never got a call. I call them back and the guy says my guy didn’t fix it. I told him no and that apparently he didn’t call you like he said he would. Maybe the one man businesses should at least have a phone number from who gave them the job. It seems to be the norm for this industry. I think it is great to help each other out but maybe who you choose to help you should be able to do the job. I ended up going through another guy, who had a different company on his paperwork than who I called. Hit and miss i guess.

This is just a guy with a cell phone who calls other guys who have their own one man businesses and that’s who comes to your house. If there is a problem, you are screwed. Pot luck. Avoid.
