It is decently priced breakfast food. Nothing really stands out to me. It is not awful, but isn’t great either. It does beat waiting for lines that some other places have though. Staff was friendly enough.

Three of us went there on a Sunday @ 12:45 for breakfast they serve breakfast till 2:00 P.M. we had to wait for a good 20 minutes for a table to open up it’s a very small place maybe 15 tables at the most the service was okay the food nothing to write home about. The place could use a good cleaning, would we go there again… probably not it is what it is…

OK. I’ll grant you this place isn’t going to win any awards for décor. It’s your basic diner with a questionable art gallery on the wall. The art is from the local art association whose members vary greatly in skill from artist to coloring book enthusiast. Décor aside, this place is a real diner serving breakfast and lunch. Its not fancy by good, tasty, affordable and in decent, but not absurd, portions. I’m a fan of their corned beef hash, made in the store, and the steak tips. The other breakfast staples(ie. French toast, pancakes, etc) are very good and presented nicely. If you’re looking for fancy, fancy, this isn’t the place. If you’re looking for good eats at a fair price with real people waiting on you, I recommend the venue.

Mediocrity is the name of the game. Food isn’t any worse than you’ve had. The wait is long because nobody wants to drive to Depot Diner and wait there. Prepare to be underwhelmed. It’s one of those breakfast places that’ll leave you thinking, «meh.» 3rd star for the nice waitress.

My girlfriend lives in the area, so we went there this past weekend for breakfast, having wanted to check it out for a while. We were seated pretty quickly, and although a waitress was there a moment later to take our drink orders, it took quite a few minutes after that just to get the menus, which were eventually brought to us by another waitress.(Why anyone could think customers should wait several minutes just to get their menus is beyond me.) The selection itself was decent, but it was all quite ordinary. There were pancakes, French toast, eggs, omelets, and the like, but I was a little disappointed to see it all prepared in very traditional ways. With the exception of a couple of the omelettes, there was nothing unique. It was all quite conventional, although the prices were low. After another fair amount of time waiting, our orders were taken. I got pancakes with ham, and my girlfriend got an omelette. My ham was cut thinly, and the pancakes were heavy, flat, a little bland, and crispy on the edges. My girlfriend wasn’t impressed with her omelette, but didn’t think it was bad either, and ate half of it anyway, planning to take the rest home. Once we’d clearly finished, the waitress never came over with the check or to see if we wanted to box up the leftovers. It was taking so long that my girlfriend got tired of waiting so just went up to the counter to get a box and the check herself. We dropped the money on the table and left. Well, we decided to give it a try, and you can’t win them all. It’s a good thing we weren’t in a hurry, because the waitstaff sure wasn’t. I can, and frequently do, overlook a restaurant’s slow service if their food is good, but with this food being average at best, that’s not the case here. We won’t be going back.

Very meh! Nothing special about this place. Took me over a half an hour to get my food on a weekday morning and like 15 minutes for coffee. There’s literally one person cooking and it’s annoying when you see an obvious regular order after you and their meal arrives before yours. Pancakes kinda had a crispy quality to them, sausages were weird and tasted almost raw. It almost tasted like they were

My favorite breakfast place by far. I always get the«grand slam.» The food is awesome every time and the staff had been the same friendly faces for years. Has a great small diner atmosphere

The scrambled eggs are disgusting pre-mixed and left to sit in a bucket, no thanks! And if you ask for fresh ones it’s a 50⁄50 gable of what you will actually wind up with if it’s really busy! You can tell the difference Bucket eggs one solid color… Fresh eggs are fluffy white and yellow, some of the staff is great friendly and accommodating! But apparently I did not have one of those the day I decided to say something about order witch I never do… Older women short hair not always pleasant!!! I said something about my eggs she sneered and took them away promptly returning and throwing! them back in front of me insisting they were fresh, she had done this so audibly and so rude that the tables around me went silent! One table even said something to me, about how they couldn’t believe how I was treated, with not even enough time to say anything she had turned and walked away leaving me with a meal I refused to eat! If I was not raised with manners and class I would have reacted much different! But I simply paid the bill and left, It was rude and unprofessional and I have not returned sense! Which is a shame because I enjoyed the nostalgia of the place even though the food is mediocre…

I come here all the time with my two boys(12&14). We never leave hungry or broke. Service is friendly and fast. The orders are always correct. The breakfast is always delish. Simple, extremely affordable, quality food, and good service. Every time and I mean every time we go some place else in Beverly for breakfast I ask my boy’s if they liked it. They Say«yeah but We should have went to City Side»

Came here for the first time. Of the two waitstaff present it seems like i saw both end of the spectrum. One was extremely pleasant accomodating. The other, the woman with dyed black hair, was completely the opposite. Something small but has made my mind up on whether or not i would return. Most of my order was ok. I had asked for my homfries to be well done, i like them crispy or even a little charred. What a got was barely cooked and cold in the middle. When i inquired with the black haired waitstaff, her attitude was so unappealing that my instinct was to get up and leave. I did however give it the benefit of the doubt and stayed, it was busy, i just cant imagine returning to a place where the staff is unpleasant towards a customer who is only asking for thier order to be correct. In the end this establishment will not see me again and i will be sure to let people know what kind of «service» i recieved.

I wish I lived in Beverly so I could go to Cityside Diner all day long. Let me tell you why: 1. This diner meets expectations of a typical diner: inexpensive, not too fancy, but enough to get you full and happy. 2. The most wonderful and genuine waitresses on this side of the Mississippi 3. Did I mention inexpensive? 4. A damn good place to window watch… a DAMN good place 5. Our food came out pretty quickly If you are looking for a quick bite to eat and don’t want to break the wallet, give Cityside Diner a shot.

Met up with my in-laws for breakfast here on a Saturday morning. The line for tables was out the door, but the tables were turning over quickly. We had no more than a 15 minute wait, even though there were at least four groups ahead of us. I ordered an omelet, but sadly, I wasn’t very impressed. The Irish Omelet(filled with corned beef hash) was thin and rubbery, rather than fluffy and airy. It lacked cheese, which was just plain weird. What’s an omelet without cheese? Maybe they just didn’t put enough on or I’m just a glutton for cheese, but either way, I was missing it. The hash itself was tasty, so I concentrated on that. The portion size was big, but I’d take a smaller, more fluffy, cheesy omelet over sheer size. The waitress was kind and efficient. We had no issues with service. We waited around 25 – 30 minutes for food, but it was so busy in there that we could hardly hold it against them. Coffee was hot and refilled often.

This is my second time here and I haven’t been disappointed. Portions are big, food is delicious. I got the western omelet with home fries, English muffin and iced coffee abs it was all great. Prices are good to, less than $ 20 for two of us.

I’ve always loved this place, and came here every weekend night for breakfast. However, the quality of the food has gone downhill. I only order french toast and they used to make it perfect, now they don’t care if it’s wet bread. The late night waitresses are nice. But I don’t think they care about the quality of food, which is a shame because they always used to. They recently changed the décor from the seats, benches, and tables everywhere to wooden tables and seats. There are no benches. Disappointment.

I’m a sorta semi regular here. I’m a local college student and the staff at least recognize my face. Cityside definitely has a nice local feel with a warm friendly atmosphere and accommodating staff. The food here is good – it’s diner food, nothing special. Service is pretty decent, you can pay with cash or credit. I’d definitely recommend Cityside over Omlette Headquarters on Rantoul Street. Something about Cabot Street brings a warmer and more local atmosphere, able to run into a few folks you know if you’re local, while Rantoul Street feels a lot more cold and busy, in a bad way. Cityside is definitely good for getting your day started with breakfast or lunch, pretty good to go with a few friends or by yourself. If you just want a coffee or tea and a light sandwich, I’d check out Atomic Café ten seconds away. Also a nice warm, local atmosphere.

The staff were lovely, and the service fast, but the place just seemed really dirty. And the ingredients seemed super low quality. It’s just not for me.

At least four people including myself have gotten sick from the burgers here. Also, they served up some moldy bread and the waitstaff copped an attitude about it!

We’ve been eying this place for weeks now, planing on going in when it’s not busy, tonight was the night. They had their usual breakfast, lunch and dinner options plus a list of specials. The specials were all under $ 10 and included an app, entrée and dessert. I got homemade fish chowder which was rich and delicious, but needed salt and pepper. I followed that with baked haddock, while the lady friend got london broil. The baked haddock had an old school cracker crust that everyone’s mother made at least once in the early 80’s. It was just as I remembered it– nothing fancy just tasty. The mashed potatoes were good too. The london broil had a great flavor but was on the tough side. For $ 10 each the portions were a good size and I was left feeling just slightly too full and happy. The outside was nothing to look at, the inside had a mix of pez dispensers and art. It was weird in a way I adore. The server and owner were delightful and service was fantastic. I’ll definitely be back.
