Dr. Spencer Amesbury is my Primary Care Manager. I have Tricare insurance(military insurance) because my husband is in the Coast Guard. Tricare requires you to see your PCM to get a referral to another doctor for any medical reason. I’ve had three appointments with him, 1st was for my first pregnancy to get referred to the OBGYN, 2nd was for my next pregnancy to get referred to the OBGYN, and 3rd was because I broke my toe.(All within less than 1 year, we transferred here when I was 7 months pregnant and I’m now 5 months pregnant with my 2nd). The staff is very friendly, HOWEVER, out of my 3 appointments I’ve experienced 3PROBLEMS. During my first pregnancy, when I first saw him and was 7 months pregnant, the referral to an OBGYN was not sent correctly. I had to make dozens of calls spanning over months, to the point where I literally called to confirm everything with my referral was correct the day before I had my baby. Most recently, my insurance claim was denied because his office listed the wrong birthday and they listed the sponsor as myself and not my husband. I understand they outsource these portions of their office(referrals and claims), but it has become such a headache that I now expect to have issues when I go there. I’ve made over 12 phone calls correcting mistakes they’ve made in total. I mentioned this to Dr. Amesbury(during my last visit) and he basically said I shouldn’t experience any problems and of course I had to make 2 phone calls today(one to Tricare and one to them) to figure out what was incorrect on my most recent insurance submittal from them. I even tried to change doctors and Tricare wouldn’t allow it unless I go on base for my appointments. It’s sad when the doctor and staff is good, but the administrative portion of visits become all encompassing and EXPECT to have problems and I EXPECT I’ll have to make multiple phone calls to get billing issues resolved. Overall, Dr. Amesbury is a good doctor… but the headaches that come with these visits are such an annoyance it’s not worth it.

Dr. Spencer R. Amesbury is my primary care physician. He’s a healer, and the name of his practice is MINDFULMEDICINE. He evaluated my dad whose residence in an Assisted Living was being challenged. I was surprised to find a doctor who wasn’t shy to do the right thing by his patients. The first doctor I ever visited who has a sign on the office door which reads: «Drug Company Representatives, DONOTENTER». I have personally thrown drug company reps out of a doctors office, when they wanted to see the doctor prior to me. Then I apologized to the doctor for misbehaving. The doctor stood up, shook my hand, and asked me how I did that, because he had tried to do that for years. Well, doc, I told them I would write to the CEO of Lilly and the FDA, making a complaint about their marketing practices interfering with patient care and how they don’t care about the public in treatment. I also let some stuff spill out of my mouth from my diamond turned titanium tongue, I don’t really remember the exact words, but I got in the rep’s face and didn’t stop until she was out of you waiting room door. Doc, just have them wait until you are done with your patients. They won’t stay until you are available. You could also have me stand sentry.
