Food is ok. Prices are to high considering the small portions they serve. The server was very aggresive and rude. She took our order wrong and said it was our fault. I ordered a shrimp soup and didnt get tortillas. I asked if tortillas came with it and she said yes but you were suppose to order them when you first ordered your food. She just seemed very upset and the place wasnt even busy compared to the other restaurants in the area. Wouldnt come back here again.

Everything in Big bear seems like a long wait for mediocre food. So we didn’t have high hopes when returning our rentals across the street we asked the gal working if Nuevo Vallarta was any good. On her recommendation we walked over for dinner. No wait and the carne aside was juicy and tender. A guy at the next table was having the seafood soup and it looked good. Got some tortilla soup for a sick kid who gobbled it up. I wish I had found it earlier in my trip.

OMG. I was here a year ago and it was good, but not great. I don’t know if they have a new cook or what but everything was extremely fresh and great. I got take out for 5 of us and everyone loved their plate. The meat in the carne asada plate was seasoned just right. The jalapeño was fresh and wasn’t over cooked, the beans were not out of a can. Their burritos were huge! 5 stars for me. I’ll be back.

Alright so my husband and I came here for a quick bite before leaving Big Bear. Reviews were a hit and miss so we decided to go in and investigate! We ordered as an appetizer queso fundido con chorizo. Taste was great but it was missing tortillas. There was nothing really served with it in order to fully enjoyed. No small plates just the queso… We had to request the tortillas for an additional fee. I order the chile colorado plate and a sope with a bottled Coke. My Husband ordered 3 tacos of different meats. I think out of all the chile colorado was our favorite. Beans and sope lacked taste. His tacos were okay.

I have to agree with one of the other reviewers: I’m shocked that this place has four stars. I had dinner here this weekend after a six-mile hike and it was probably the worst Mexican food I’ve had in years. That says a lot for someone who could barely walk and was starving. Yes, I live in Los Angeles and consider myself a Mexican food connoisseur, but I’m usually able to finish my plate even if it’s not that good. I can put up with average Mexican food. My meal here was below average, though. Ironically, the meal started off pretty good. The chips were above average and the salsa was nice and spicy. I was actually quite optimistic. My girlfriend was amused by this: did she know something I didn’t? Indeed, everything went downhill from there. Once my plate arrived, I noticed that the beans were crusty and the rice was somewhat stale. Even worse, the sauce on my enchiladas looked and tasted like spaghetti sauce. Maybe it was a different type of sauce that I’m not aware of, but it was the worst I’ve ever had. I just couldn’t finish it – a first for me. I still shiver when I think of it. Oh, and the service wasn’t all that great. This place should hire another waitress instead of forcing one poor lady to serve 4+ tables.

My family and I checked this place out the other day and we were pleasantly surprised. I got the carnitas wet burrito with red sauce and it was awesome! Large and yummy. My kids got taquitos with sides of rice and beans and they were happy. Overall, the food, service, ambiance, price and location were a welcome change compared to our usual Mexican food stop in Big Bear. We will difinitely be back.

Good food and service. A little slower than I am used to for a Mexican restaurant of this quality but overall a good experience. Wait staff was a little blah though.

Ate here for my birthday and the food was amazing. I ordered the shredded beef burrito with rice and beans. Best rice I’ve ever eaten. Everyone was impressed with their food considering its kind of a dive joint. The fried ice cream was yummy and the salsa bar wasn’t bad. My only complaint was they charged $ 1 for a second basket of chips. With five adults eating, one basket of chips wasn’t enough. I found it odd the salsa was all u can eat but not the chips. We will definitely go back the next time we r in big bear.

Honestly, I don’t know what this place has so many stars. Came here because of the ratings and first thing first: this place is kind of a sad place. Energy is pretty dull. Food: the chips were stale. The salsa was good AND here comes the biggest shocker. Their was a nasty big olé hair in my beans. The service: as I said before, place is pretty sad and the service made it even sadder. Yeah, not coming back.

The food was good but for a holiday weekend they were seriously short staffed. The two girls working there were obviously overwhelmed. I had the 7 seas soup and the wife had a fried talapia. Both were good.

LWe stopped here yesterday 1÷3÷15 every where else it was packed the food was pretty good I suggest you try the camarones ala diabla the service not so good I’m guessing it’s because they were a bit overwhelmed I had the enchiladas suizas which were pretty good I thought I would be spending a bit less than the village restaurants or hacienda let me give you a run down on what I ordered enchiladas suiza 2 chicken fajitas a torta and camarones a la diabla and 4 drinks I paid 90 bucks for a whole in the wall place I thought it was a bit pricey maybe because it’s big bear I’m guessing the prices go up I thought I would be spending about $ 70 all in all I give the food 5 stars the price 2 stars the service 3 stars I would go again even if it is a bit pricey

For a Mexican place up in Big Bear, I give it 4 stars. The food they put out is legit and has that nice, run down Mexican hole in the wall feel. I dig it. Prices are reasonable. You can get a bite here on the cheap. Their chips and salsa bar are great. I got a lengua and adobado taco. They were decent and filling tacos. I got a margarita there. That was subpar. Their blended drinks are mediocre. Just stick to the cervezas.
