The chicken and dumplings were very good! Fan of all of the sides! The catfish I didn’t particularly care for. but I did get that at almost closing so it was a little cold. But I really like the place! Took our family there last time they were in town! They really enjoyed it! Oh and sweet tea is great!

Fast food meets southern home cooking. Fresh and great flavor at a great price! And there was WAY more food than I could eat… and I’m a big eater. Most impressive was how fresh and juicy the meats were considering they weren’t cooked to order. The fried chicken breast and the fried livers were two thumbs up. Stewed squash was just like I like it. I’m just really glad we stopped in. I don’t come that way much but if I ever do, I will for sure come back.

Way too expensive for the quality of the food and the way it is served, and within just the last two weeks, they have gone up on their prices! Food is only OK – most of it is too greasy. This is actually a fast-food restaurant – order at the counter, wait for your number to be called, pick up your order, and then clear your own table. Plastic utensils and cardboard plates. Nothing wrong with this service at a place that is advertised as «fast food,» BUT when one pays their prices, this is not expected.

The atmosphere is fast food… Crowded and noisy. The utensils are plastic and the dishes are plastic and cardboard. The food is just average as Southern cooking goes. The cornbread is more a northern version. You are expected to buss your own table. Given all of this it was a bit pricey. The PawPaw Patch is a much better deal.

Who doesn’t love a meat and three!!! I love that they have dedicated parking, being at the end of the Hoover Commons strip mall. The restaurant itself is clean and mixed seating with low and high top tables throughout the space. Tablecloths are checkered to give you that country feel. You order and wait on your ticket number to be called. They have all of the veggies and meals listed on a chalkboard. They use color coded dots to indicate what has meat in it and what is vegetarian. Currently they offer sweet and unsweet tea but there are bottled sodas and waters available. I ordered the special which was chicken and dumplings and 2 sides. There are a limited amount of options for those who don’t eat swine so I went with fried okra and of course I had to try their fried green tomatoes! It was my cheat day ok! The sides were not greasy at all and the remoulade sauce was on point with both. The chicken and dumplings had just as many pieces of chicken as it did dumplings so I was happy about that and it was a good sized portion. Overall I was very pleased and will add this to the lunch rotation!

Awesome meal. FGT and okra were amazing. Restaurant was clean, and food was much better than expected. Good size portions. Not cafeteria style which was a nice change from other local meat and threes.

Pros: Order was correct. The fried green tomatoes were good. Cons: Overpriced for the quality of food. It was $ 34.66 for 2 adults and one child with two sides each. The country fried steak with gravy was soggy. I’m used to country fried steak being crispy with a little gravy on top. I spit out pieces as I was trying to eat. Yuck! The gravy on the mashed potatoes tasted greasy. The cornbread was more like cake. The lady who took the order did not explain how their restaurant works. We were given a receipt and noticed our plates were sitting at the other end of the room. The people next to us sat for a while waiting on their food. A worker finally went to their table and told them to pick up their food. She did not even bother to offer to bring at least one plate to them. This restaurant gives of a very rude sense from their employees. Things need to change to make their ways clear to customers.

My wife and I tried FGT today for the first time. The prices on their website are not what they charge in the restaurant of course it is more expensive. I got the fired chicken, fgt, and baby butter beans w/cornbread. The chicken was ok had better at other restaurants, the fgt were 3 stacked in a small bowl. They were not cooked crispy just mushy and hard to cut in the small bowl. The beans were just average. My wife had the chicken tenders, fgt, and baby butter beans. The tenders were way under cooked and no seasoning. I would recommend FGT if they would season the chicken, cook it longer, serve it on a plate, not serve the fgt mushy in a bowl, and cook cornbread muffins. Go to Full Moon BBQ and look at how they cook their fgt and it is all served on a plate. They have 3 sauces to use with the tenders, they are all hot, hot, hot. If you like a lot of heat they are great! It would be better if they had just one like Guthrey’s Chicken sauce. Other than that it was great!

Good vegetables and meat are served here. The mashed potatoes are actually real potatoes and not instant. I thought the gravy was okay, not great. Fried chicken tenders were very good and the country fried steak was okay. You can check their website or call in to find what is on the menu for the day as they post it every morning. They frequently rotate menu items. I will say that this place is as good as any meat and three in the area. The portions are ample and the preparation is good.

Great place for meat a 3! Was just way too excited to try the fried green tomatoes and wasn’t that impressed. The tomatoes were healthy and great, the batter was bland. Was looking for more flavor. Will leave you on a good note: the green beans and mash potatoes were great with the cornbread.

Good home type food. Fast service. Courteous service. No tips. Limited selection. Plastic utensils. Dine In or Take Out. Need window shades for dine in tables for blinding afternoon sun glare. Fried Chicken is very good. Sides are fresh and tasteful. The fried green tomatoes are best I’ve found, correct degree of green/ripe, correct batter, correct doneness, but needs seasoning(salt) and draining/blotting of cooking oil before serving. Very good overall. Will probably get better with time(and need larger place). There was an empty spot for this type of food in area. I recommend you try when hungry for this type of food. I’ll be back.
