A Blacksburg tradition! Very casual atmosphere. Wide ranging menu from pizzas, subs, calzones to gourmet entrees. Great selection of beers on tap plus connected carry out store with huge selection of bottled beer. Calzones are especially tasty. Last time I had the special chicken ravioli with Alfredo sauce. It was delicious and the fresh salad was also wonderful.

OMG, the Greek gyro with tzatziki sauce is absolutely wonderful; the best I’ve had(and I’ve had them in many places). Everything else being served looked great and the place was jumping for lunch. Friendly staff and fast service makes this a place to definitely revisit!

Definitely the place to go if you’re visiting VA Tech! Prices are great and the food couldn’t be tastier. My favorites? Spanakopita for an app, souvlaki for the health conscious diner and the BBQ chicken calzone for the foodie! Our waitress was very attentive even though the place was packed house and Friday night so I give the service two thumbs up as well. Definitely will come again whenever we’re in Blacksburg!

So amazing!!! The Cellar completely opened my eyes to Greek food. However, the service is somewhat slow but very friendly. But this did not stop me from appreciating this food establishment. The barbecue chicken calzone is so delicious and very large!

Absolutely amazing food! I have never had a bad experience here. All the wait staff are extremely nice and the food is always perfectly! My favorites are the pita pizza or the cheese steak sub! If you have never tried this place, you should definitely go!

Walked in on a hunch. One part is a small grocery store with speciality wine and what not. The restaurant is connected. There was a little confusion regarding the pick a seat and somebody will serve you eventually mentality. However the sweet tea was delicious. My gyro came out quickly and it was stuffed with lamb. The sauce was perfect and the curly fries were hot and fresh. Portion size was perfect. My waitress was very attentive with a ready smile. The crowd is a bit older which is nice for someone who has little patience for the raucous and often annoying college crowds that are expectantly everywhere in a college town. I will definitely return.

I think this might be the lone holdout of restaurants from back when I lived here 20 years ago. Back then it was one of the«fancier» places to eat in town and not one that a collage student could afford very often. It was wonderful to go here last night with the family and see that so little had changed. They of course now have gluten free pizza crusts but their regular pizza crust seems just the same as it was 20 years ago — soft and chewy but light at the same time. We had a starter of mussels that I was initially skeptical of my husband ordering but how wrong I was, they were fantastic! The broth was so good we had to get a second load of bread for it and still dipped our pizza crust in it! We also had the kids spaghetti and marinara, gyro pizza, the meat lasagna, baklava, Tiromisu and the brownie. Everything was very good. I also have to point out that usually long lasting restaurants end up getting dingy with dust in all the crevasses but they are doing a stand up job keeping this place quite clean. I also love the beer wine store next door. Finally, there is nothing that says you are in a collage town than pitchers of beers and a shooter list!

I was very happy with The Cellar. Our original plan was Chipotle but the line was too long so we tried The Cellar and I’m glad we did! Great service, good atmosphere, and a good variety of options on the menu. I got the chicken kabobs and it was excellent. My girlfriend got the brie grilled cheese and chill and it was very good. There was a huge selection of beer and a great drink menu also. Great food, selection and service. Definitely worth a try!

Great Ambience and feel. Fantastic Food! This place is highly recommended, and is a lot less noisy and chaotic as some of the other bars in the vicinity. The pizzas, sandwiches and appetizers are all delicious.

We came to The Cellar on a Saturday night with friends for dinner/drinks. We found a table downstairs right by the bar. This place is definitely a fun/chill vibe. The crowd is older than you’d expect in a college town, but our local friends told us it’s the grad student bar, makes sense. Our waitress was a nice girl, but so very spacey, haha, she forgot one of our meals altogether lol. We had beers(beers are like $ 4, awesome) and got some appetizers: loaded fries(the best one!), artichoke spinach dip and garlic bread(the garlic bread wasn’t too good, skip it). For our entrees I got the gyro, which was actually delish! My hubs had a cheese steak which he really liked, and others had pizza, some other sandwiches, etc. Great spot for a fun dinner and drinks with friends!

Great food, but the service is so slow. I used to frequent the cellar a lot, but these last couple of times have literally taken me several hours. I probably won’t go back anytime soon because the last time I was there it took me almost 3 hours for lunch.

Went here during a weekend in July during when it was busy. Ended up sitting at a table outside for 15 minutes, with waitresses constantly going in and out and walking past our table, before any of them finally got to us and offered us water. We had to wait 10 minutes for our water and then after 20 minutes of waiting to just order our food I got too impatient and left with my boyfriend. After the 15th time of trying to get a waitress’s attention and having them ignore us and pass through I gave up and left and maybe the food is phenomenal but I would not wait 45 minutes just to order it.

My friends and I came back for a football weekend after a few years of being away, and our trip to The Cellar did not disappoint. Everyone loved the $ 2 «Luck of the Draw» that allows you to get a surprise beer — everyone at the table got something different because they have a great selection. We had a delicious garlic bread appetizer, some pizza, baked ziti, and more. We sat upstairs, but they also have outdoor seating — both have good ambiance and a great chance to people watch. I agree with some of the other reviews that say the only drawback is slow service — while our waiter was really friendly and accommodating, honestly, the place was slammed and it was really a long wait to get our food. Still worth it.

Great food and great beers! I am fan of this place. Their curly fries, their shrimp dip(the spinach and artichoke dip is also good), their calzones and their entrées are excellent! The ambience is great as well. They play good music, sometimes there is live music. The service is good all the time. In case you are into beers, this place has an amazing collection!

The Cellar is my favorite restaurant in Blacksburg, hands down. I’ve been to the restaurant at least 30 times in the past two years, and I’ve never been disappointed. I love pizza, and their Pita Pizzas are phenomenal; as well as their chilli(which are my two main dishes). Their seating outside provides a wonderful atmosphere during the warm months, and their«seat yourself» philosophy is pretty refreshing and makes eating their very straight forward.

Cool little spot. Mixture of Greek and pizza. They have an old-school pinball machine and it’s connected to a gourmet beer grocery shop. Good food all around. Good service all around. Even had a cool little side room that can seat six people with a TV in it. Attended with my family of 6 during Christmas break

Favorite restaurant in Blacksburg! Yum yum. … A few years ago I went to The Cellar and the wait was so long, and the staff was rude I vowed to never go back. I must have been there on an off night, because I realized I’ve been missing out big time by not going here. It’s understandable that there will be a wait if you go on a weekend during rush hours because the place is so tiny inside, but that adds to the charm. If you’re waiting upstairs try out the basement, there are a lot more seats and the menu is the same. I actually prefer the basement. I went last weekend with my parents and we all loved it. I ordered a 6″ gyro and curly fries. My mom tried to convince me to order an entrée instead, but I am so glad I didn’t listen. First off, the curly fries here are delicious. They’re perfectly crunchy while not being over cooked, with some great seasoning. The gyro was so delicious, maybe I love all gyros I eat though. The gyro was pretty standard with lamb slices, lettuce, onions and tzatziki sauce. The pita was perfectly moist, sorry if you hate that word. The only thing I wish was different was if there was a little extra tzatziki sauce on top, but I probably always think that. My mom got the chicken souvlaki kabobs. The plate came with roasted potatoes, asparagus and chicken kabobs(obviously) served with tzatziki. The chicken kabobs were lightly marinated to perfection. It was such a simple dish, yet so delicious, if you’re looking for a light option try this! My dad ordered the Aegean pasta dish. Which was shrimp on top of linguine, with feta cheese, pesto, tomatoes, mushrooms, garlic, and some onions. This dish was delicious as well, and tasted pretty light and fresh for a pasta dish! My favorite dish here is the BBQ chicken pizza. I think the crust is what makes it so good. It’s so reasonable and delicious! I get it every time now. Wish I was still in school, so I could head to the Cellar right now.
