I just had the most delicious fried chicken, I have ever had, it was cooked perfectly, the coating was amazing, so flavorful!!! The green beans were cooked to perfection and the Mac n cheese was out of this world delicious. The fried chicken is not on the regular menu, it is a daily special, but with everything on the menu, you can’t go wrong. Almost forgot the delicious homemade pickled okra that was also on the plate!!!

Enjoyed dinner last night. Ambience is great, staff very welcoming and food excellent. The Chicken Jidori, Ravioli and Pappardelle were ordered. As well as the bruschetta appetizer– nice take on it. I’ve never ordered a meal, where all I wanted to do is just eat it. Not talk, not even rave how delicious it is to my companions. I just ate. I didn’t even offer a taste to my husband. I was lost in the pleasure of enjoying this meal and keeping it all for myself. My husband did the same, as well as my brother-in law. At the finish we all agreed, the meal was just DELICIOUS. The blend of spices is done so well. Huge servings and beautifully presented. To finish the meal– we ordered a lemon tart(excellent) and the hot chocolate Mexican cake, tad spicy due to the addition of cumin and cayenne pepper but none the less delicious. Finally found the perfect place to eat in Lake Arrowhead.

Has potential, you can tell the chef is ambitious as he can be running a restaurant in Arrowhead. Popcorn bisque was uniquely good, Carbonara nice, Tomato bisque excellent. If you want to be a success, recommend the owner/maitre d/host to not get fucked up behind the bar. Tacky. Oh yeah, try to disclose bottle prices before opening.

My boyfriend and mine’s first time here. Had reservations at 5:45. We arrived early and were seated right away… right next to a table with a fussy baby. :-/We ordered a bottle of Chianti. Waitress comes back with an alternative because the one on the menu was not available. :-/BF ordered the burger. I ordered the salmon. I was asked how I wanted it… medium, medium-well, well done? I said«cooked». I’ve never been asked that before when ordering salmon. Funny that the bf wasn’t asked how he wanted his burger cooked. Burger great, duck fat fries good, salmon ok. Service was great, atmosphere ok. Prices are steep. I guess I was expecting more for what we were paying for.

Came here over the long weekend with my family and enjoyed our dinner here yet again. The owner is great and apologized for the delay in our table(we had reservations for 830pm, but didn’t get sat until about 9pm). He got us wine while we were waiting. My chicken entry was delicious. The skin on the chicken was very crispy and had a yummy glaze all over it. It was on top of mashed potatoes and vegetables. Everyone else in our party enjoyed the food. Only giving it –1 star because I know it was a busy weekend but the service was sloooow. I don’t think we got out of dinner until about 1030pm. Normally we would have all got dessert, but with it being so late we passed.

Definitely the best restaurant on the mountain. There is only so much diner food you can eat and this is a very nice break from it. I recommend the Jidori chicken with a glass of the Lincourt pinot noir. Nice atmosphere, great menu, and loud enough you can sneak your kids in if you have to. Definitely need reservations as they book up fast.

Love finding gems like this one in the mountains. Made a reservation(which I recommend) and was sat right away. I have a 3 year old and I will say I didn’t find the place that kid friendly… It was small. Food was fresh and yummy with attention to detail. They make most everything in house. Def recommend this place and will be back.

Great service, even BETTER food!!! So sad this place is so far… I was most impressed with the bruschetta, so sweet and delicious. The pomegranate was a perfect touch as well. Will definitely be coming back, thank you stone creek bistro for an amazing experience!

Great food and wonderful service. Above and beyond to give us just what we needed. Vegan pasta with fresh local veggies and fish and chips with mashed peas. Just the well made dinner we were looking for!

My wife and I were celebrating our 11th anniversary this past weekend up in the area and was given this place by a friend as a place to stop in for a great meal. We were very glad we made a reservation as there is no way we could have walked in after they had opened. We had a fantastic server(Jaime) who I believe also said her husband is the chef. My wife and I ordered the Jidori Chicken and Steak Frite dinner; outstanding! It was the best steak I’ve ever eaten and the Duck Fat Fries were delicious. Thanks so much for a great time!

We decided to try the Bistro while our kids were at the theater. The ambiance is cozy and funky, but overall classy. Our server, Jaime, arrived promptly and provided us with water and many helpful suggestions. We settled on Bacon Mac and Cheese Fritters for an appetizer, I ordered the Heirloom Tomato Salad and my partner the Wedge Salad. She also ordered a cup of the Sweet Onion Soubise. Service was attentive and timely from arrival to course delivery to dish clearing. Jaime was fantastic, never intrusive, but always available when wanted. Other employees who cleared dishes, brought courses and refills were unobtrusive and friendly. Bacon Mac and Cheese Fritters. What more can you want, right? These were delicious. The fritters themselves were small and perfectly fried on the outside with a nice gooey center. Served with a remoulade sauce that was so tasty I could have eaten it without the fritters at all. The Wedge Salad was tasty, a head of romaine halved with pickled onions, bacon, cherry tomatoes and made on site blue cheese dressing. I am not a fan of blue cheese, but I would have enjoyed this as my own dinner. Heirloom Tomato Salad. This is the best salad I have ever put in my mouth. I cannot tell you how amazing this was. I highly suggest this to you if you enjoy tomatoes at all. Four types of tomatoes, hand stretched mozzarella, balsamic vinaigrette and herbs. This had a perfect balance between all the flavors. The mild mozzarella complemented the balsamic tang, and each of the types of tomato stood out on the palate. We simply had no room left for dessert. I will be back to tackle those in time. Overall, yes, the prices are a bit more than I would normally be willing to pay, but absolutely worth it. You can have an affordable meal and an thoroughly enjoyable experience. My favorite part is still that they place your bill inside a book to present it at the table.

Well well well. Looks like we’ve got a player up here in these woods. For those of you with distinguishing palates, you won’t have to forgo delicious food that you’re accustomed to just because you’re in the mountains because Stone Creek Bistro dishes up high quality food that may be among the best on the mountain. The restaurant is not large, but it’s hard to miss because you’ll suddenly see rows of cars parked off the side of the road before you even hit the restaurant. Unless you’re getting there at 5pm or much later, you’ll most likely need to nab one of the spots on the road and walk over. Once inside, the ambiance is a pleasing blend of mountain rustic and casual. You can easily come here in casual clothes or gussy it up a bit and still feel comfortable. Once seated, a review of the menu will yield many an appetizing options that you will be struggling to choose from. I was disappointed that the special of the day — Indian spiced lamb — was sold out, but there must be lots of early diners because we got there at 7pm. However, I switched over to the lamb osso bucco and was quite pleased. The meat was fork tender, flavors were subtle, and the portion size was generous. I tried a little bit of the duck breast entrée and it was also really good. We split the wilted Caesar salad and really enjoyed the homemade sauce served with a side of white anchovies. The Mexican hot chocolate flourless cake is excellent. While the wine menu was not extensive, wines by the glass(and by the bottle) were reasonably priced. Our server was professional and entertaining. He certainly made half the experience as well so kudos to the staff. We were so pleasantly surprised by our overall experience. We’ve bemoaned the lack of finer dining options on the mountain and we’ve finally found it. While down the hill, Stone Creak Bistro might rank a solid 4 star, up in the mountains, it’s definitely top drawer. Due to the popularity of the restaurant, reservations are almost essential if you’re going to have any luck finding a seat.

Fantastic. I celebrated my birthday here while my family was up in Lake Arrowhead for a weekend getaway. This restaurant looked like the most promising. And it didn’t let us down! First off, great service. Our waiter was fantastic. Fun, helpful, and friendly! Second, food. DUH! I have never had duck before so I went for their duck leg and breast speciality. I loved it! 10⁄10 My family had the burger, their chicken, the steak. Everybody loved their meal! The Mexican chocolate cake for dessert was so spicy! Kick to the senses. Overall, it was a great birthday. A pleasant surprise restaurant tucked away in the mountains.

Stone Creek Bistro is on Hwy 189(Blue Jay Cutoff). With limited parking in front, it can be an adventure running across the highway to get into the small restaurant. I highly recommend reservations — there are only 10 barstools and 45 or so tableseats. The vibe is upscale, for the mountain, but it is casual. Family owned: son is the chef and father works the bar(he knows his stuff). Wine-beer list is always changing and the print does not keep up, so tell him what you want– he knows his stuff and will find it(Samuel Smith’s Oatmeal Porter is worth the trip). The staff is VERY friendly, inviting and kid-friendly. I have only two criticisms. 2 visits with 1 person getting the wrong thing because they do not write the orders down. They don’t find that out and fix it because no one comes back until you are 2⁄3 done. I prefer a written order and to be checked on after 2 or 3 bites to make sure that we are happy and that it is properly cooked. We had: Kids’ Burger($ 7): it looks like a standard cheeseburger from McD’s to a child but it is a gorgeous brioche bun with a thin ground beef patty and American cheese that is served with duck fat fries. Yum! A+ French Tomato Soup($ 8): DD had this one; a croquette of incredibly thick tomato bisque is topped with a lid of bread and a layer of cheese. It is rich, creamy, sweet and rich. A+ Roasted Veggie Bisque($ 4 for a cup): DM had the soup du jour, which was a rich and creamy squash bisque that was well seasoned and topped with minced chives. A+ Arugula Strawberry Citrus Salad($ 12): DH and I shared this. A few cup of peppery arugula are tossed in a rich and nutty hazelnut vinaigrette(almost too much) with orange segments, sliced strawberries and minced hazlenuts and served with 3 fried herbed goat cheese balls that are crisp on the outside and creamy on the inside. A++ Steak Frites($ 28): DD ordered a flat iron steak rare; got the steak frites med rare. The NY strip was generally tasty but had a line of gristle in the center topped w/herbed butter(«hotel butter») and was served with a ton of duck fat fries and a garlic aioli. A Lamb Osso Bucco($ 29): DM ordered this with cheesy grits in lieu of mashed potatoes because of allergy. The braised lamb shank was SO tender and was lovely with the very rich grits. The«spring vegetable ragout» was a mix of sweet and tender cooked onions that provided a little zing to cut through the rich meat. It was all drizzled with a bit of jus. A– Pork Chop($ 28): DH and I shared this. Reported as a double-cut, it is actually a single cut pork chop ordered med rare but came med well plus. The jus poured over the top had a little BBQ sauce flavor. The meat was overcooked but about half was still pretty moist. Served on a bed of the cheddar grits that are outstanding(very rich) and pair well with tender collard greens that are cooked with smoked turkey bits and black eyed peas. None of the reported cornbread was there. The grits and greens were an A. The mislabeled single cut, overcooked pork chop and the missing cornbread were a C. Fried Brussels Sprouts($ 10): about 10 gorgeous fried Brussels sprouts that are crisp tender and perfectly colored are served in a little bed of aioli made with sherry vinegar and walnut oil with bits of bacon and are sprinkled with grated Parmesan. OMG. These are heavenly. The aioli is nutty and tangy and the cheese and bacon are a little salty. All three pair perfectly with the sprouts. A++ After dinner, we ordered hot water and decaf coffee. They brought a tea pot filled with hot water and a large French press with perfectly steeped decaf coffee. A+ For dessert, we had: Sticky Toffee Pudding($ 7): a cast iron skillet had a small dry spice cake that really had little date flavor in burnt pecan-toffee sauce with too much unsweetened crème fraiche(very sour). Bad. D Coffee & Doughnuts($ 7): a demitasse cup filled with coffee-chocolate pudding served w/sliced strawberries and 3 square cake doughnuts. While not beignets, they are the perfect cakey vehicle for the AMAZING pudding. Add a sweet strawberry to the mocha-chocolate pudding, and you have a bite that is fit for a king. A+ Cheesecake($ 14): incredibly creative cheese board that has 5 homemade graham crackers, a housemade vanilla bean cheesecake filling ringed in thinly sliced strawberries, a few candied pecans, a cup of blueberries and blackberries, chocolate pudding(no toffee sauce as reported), and lemon curd. This was very good. The cinnamon graham crackers are very crumbly and not as crunchy as the commercial variety, but they are very good. With a fork, you can still top them with the tangy cheesecake filling, the very mild lemon curd(can hardly tell that it is lemon), and the milk chocolate pudding. Add the berries for a little texture and sweetness and snack on the candied nuts. A Overall, this is a lovely, friendly and tasty bistro. Not quite 5 stars, but they could easily be with adjustments.

came up from San Diego for a little vaca this week. Food was phenomenal. We had fried mac & cheese with come with an INCREDIBLE New Orleans style ranch. A burger which was like In & Out version 2.0 and that came with Duck Fat Fries that could be my favorite fries and grilled cheese & tomato soup was again great. Couple tweaks id recommend for the chef. Serve a gourmet stone ground mustard with the fries and maybe a little heavier with the garlic in the soup. Thanks so much for making my visit to town superb!

My friend and I were going to eat at the restaurant at our hotel, but it ended up being fully booked for the entire evening. I immediately took to Unilocal and found Stone Creek Bistro and I called to make a reservation. I am pleased to say that I’m thankful our hotel’s restaurant was booked otherwise we wouldn’t have been able to experience this wonderful restaurant. We drove only five minutes from Lake Arrowhead Resort & Spa to the town of Blue Jay where this restaurant is located. We got there before our reservations, but we were seated right away. Firstly, the service here was fantastic. Our waiter was extremely friendly, animated and attentive. The host made us feel very welcome and even poured us a taste of sherry in cute Pyrex glasses as we ate our divine toffee pudding dessert. Secondly, the food portions were huge! I had the pork chop and my friend had the steak frites. My pork chop was 1-inch think and about the size of my hand rested on top of collard greens and creamy grits. It was delicious. I didn’t taste the steak, but those duck fat fries were to-die-for. There were several items on the menu that I wanted to try, but I’ll just have to try something new every time I come up this way. If you’re in the area and would like a nice dinner, I highly recommend Stone Creek Bistro.
