Really solid comic shop. Large stock of current comics and a huge upstairs full of discount older stuff. Worth the walk a ways out of downtown Boise.

At first I regretted walking into the shop, as it seemed to be more of a toy store than a comic shop. Once you get past the overpriced toy section there’s a decent range of new titles.
The Good: Really awesome upstairs filled with a range of old titles at great prices.
The Bad: Lack luster monthly«deals» and«discounts.» The staff and especially the owner seem to not enjoy being there. They don’t respond well to any questioning, seeming to have a «buy and go» attitude.
Unfortunately, this is the best Boise has to offer for comics, which is why I now order online.

Captain Comics is a great comic shop, not just by «Boise Standards» but by any standard. Buy the reg print and get a variant for cover price.

I’ve now visited nearly every store in Vegas, Portland, and Salt Lake City: Captain still beats them all. It has THE best selection of any store within a 300 mile radius, and the kicker is that the prices are ridiculously competitive.

I stopped by Captain Comics while on business in Boise, and I’d consider living here just so this could be my shop. Good selection, well organized, and the staff was super friendly. This is one of those places that is really enjoyable to shop.

I am so grateful to finally live near a comic shop that doesn’t suck. In fact, Captain Comics is one of the best comic shops I’ve been to period! They’re extremely professional. By open every Wednesday they have all the new releases organized and neatly displayed on the wall. The store is always clean, which is a nice change of pace from some of the cat-stink comic stores I’ve visited in the past. The nice folks behind the counter are not only helpful in answering questions, but are also friendly. Often they’ll chat with you over how rad your purchases are or how excited they are for a new series. If you are not the owner of a pull box, you will have to get here early on Wednesdays to pick up your more popular comics. They sell out of certain comics fast because they’re really the only fully stocked comic shop in the area. Additionally, there is an $ 8 min purchase limit on credit/debit cards.(Keep in mind this isn’t their fault though. Credit card companies are jerks who put transaction fees on small businesses like these.)

The best comic book shop in Idaho. There’s not much competition mind you, but this is a realy good shop by any standard. The selection is realy good and the clerk realy knew his stuff. They have a fair amount of Silver Age back issues which is something most other stores are lacking. My favorite part of the store is the upstairs with all the long boxes full of back issues. It was a thrill looking through them all. I could spend hours up there. I just picked up a couple of graphic novels on my visit but I could have easily spent more time and money there if I had it to spare. If you’re a comic book fan living in south central Idaho, this place is worth the drive.
