Awesome place, food is great! You would think they are doing to much with Chinese, Vietnamese and Korean but the menu is just right! Food is fresh, flavorful and plentiful! From the generous amount of noodles in the phở to the raging, bubbling boil of the perfect sized pot of soon tofu, this place is better then 90% of the places I’ve been to. The only reason that I did not give the fifth star is because of a plate of well done on the verge of burnt chicken fried rice with a tremendous amount of red and green bell peppers! To me, when it comes to fried rice, less is best!

Menu changed to reflect Korean cuisine which is the right thing to do as it shows in their cooking. Excellent korean food options. Love the banchan and the fact that it changes daily. Wish the kalbi ribs were a little more portion wise since it costs so much but won’t deny that it tastes great. Hands down better than K-Fusion(although I haven’t gone there since they opened). Only negative is the smoke. That place needs more ventilation and I would say it isn’t kid-friendly for that fact alone. Will go again.

The Korean food was good. The Chinese food was horrible! The place is small and sketchy looking but the staff are friendly and welcoming. It seemed a bit over priced as well. Not super impressed but with limited Korean options around I may give this place another try.

I love this place! Friendly staff and great food. Sometimes they change the ingredients(not on the menu) to what you ordered, but I don’t mind I’m open to new things. :)

I came in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and ordered the ramen soup and a side order of egg rolls. The side ban chan dishes came out first, but I didn’t even have a chance to start in on them before the egg rolls and soup were already on the table. The homemade kinchi was excellent and the other three ban chan dishes were also good. The egg rolls were large but could have been crunchier. The flavor was good and went well with the sweet chile dipping sauce. The ramen broth was flavorful and the soup had a lot of noodles and vegetables. Hot tea is included in the price and the servers came by often to refill my cup. It appeared to be a good sign that several Asian families were there eating. Definitely a place I will come back to again.

I’ve never had Korean food before my trip to Mr Wok. I found the food to be delicious and different from other Asian foods I’ve tried. I ordered the bibimbap and enjoyed every bite. I couldn’t even tell you what the side dishes that came with the meal were. Some were good, some I didn’t enjoy. I won’t lie, though, my stomach was very upset with me that I ate the food there. I don’t blame the restaurant, though. As I’ve gotten older, my stomach has gotten a chip on its shoulder. While I should take the advice of my stomach more often, the reader shouldn’t. This really is a good restaurant and you should give it a try.

Best Korean closest to authentic you can get in Boise. Very affordable and delicious. The phở is grand. The spicy seafood soup very filling. Big quantities and lots of panchans — small dishes to snack on. Go.

I’m happy to try out this restaurant before I leave the town. The dishes are well prepared with transitional Korean taste. Love the simpler size starter. Elegantly sits in the center of the little dish. Wish there are more items on the starter. My favor Korean dish: clear/glass noodle and potato salad and tofu salad are not on the menu. Also, wish an egg added to the tofu

Mr. Wok is my new go-to Korean comfort food restaurant. I could honestly eat here weekly. As someone who grew up in South Korea and who has a Korean mother, I approve of their food! I’ve tried the spicy seafood noodle soup(Jjampong), beef silk tofu soup(Sundubu chigae), beef bulgogi, spicy pork bulgogi(daeji bulgogi), and their kimchi soup(kimchi chigae). The food actually tastes authentic, which I appreciate. You even get the traditional side dishes(ban chan) that they make in house. They even make their own Kimchi! WINFORME! I went last Friday and they apologized over 3 times for the wait. I told them I was happy to finally see a Korean restaurant that is packed and has Koreans eating here. That should tell you something. Gangnam was my go to place before Mr. Wok opened, but with some of the same dishes that are $ 5-$ 6 cheaper here, you really can’t beat that. They also give you free hot tea if you dine in. I want to try their black bean noodes(JaJangMyeon) and their seafood silk tofu soup(Haemul Sundubu). I’m sure they won’t be a let down. I did notice the menu change from my very first time coming to Mr. Wok. They used to have more of a Teriyaki/Chinese menu, but most of their food is now Korean. Please do not let this sway you not to return. The food is great, and I really hope this gem stays in Boise! It’s been years since we’ve had a good Korean restaurant in town.

LOVE this place! I used to live in Boston where there is a competitive market for Korean restaurants. This place is definitely on the top even compare to the ones in the big cities. The taste is so authentic, all the side dishes are made in the house, service is nice and prompt. Oh and a delicious mint patty comes after a meal! Only have great things to say, it’s also my Korean friends’ go-to place in town :)

Good korean restaurant, especially if you are craving for Korean food on a Sunday, as this is the only Korean restaurant open on Sunday in Boise … My favorites are the spicy Korean noodle with seafood, it is truly delicious. My son loved the bulgogi as the meat is pretty tender. Their Korean side dishes are pretty good, especially the fish cake. When the owner is around, she normally gave more side dishes… without her, the waitress is not that willing to refill your side dishes. Other food like Kalby and Spicy octopus are not that great… the octopus is rather chewy the last time I tried it, while the Kalbi is not that tender. Their appetizer like grilled teriyaki shrimp and chicken are average. Another good thing about this place is the price, whereby it is cheaper than other Korean restaurant in town.

It’s become my go-to spot when I’m not feeling well and I need a little comfort food. Is it the absolute best korean food you can get? No, but for a little restaurant in Boise, where the Korean population is relatively small, it’s pretty darned great. And the flavors aren’t muted to cater to non-koreans, it’s korean food to a t, which I appreciate. On a side note, I ordered their orange chicken today and it IS different than most people are probably used to. It actually tastes a lot like tangsuyuk(which I LOVE), a Chinese-Korean variation of sweet and sour pork/beef/chicken, and it’s delicious. Try it with your jjajangmyun(also great), a standard combination at jjajangmyun/jjamppong shops. Yum!

So today is my first visit to this place. I wanted to have some spicy Asian — and so, I ordered spicy chicken teriyaki for a takeout. The portions of chicken was so generous. I have to say my order really satisfied my spicy food craving that I had for a quiet some time. The spicy chicken teriyaki came with complimentary house salad and white rice. The rice was perfect and not dry(it’s been a while since I had not-so dry white rice. 6 stars for it).I am not sure about the service this time coz it was a takeout. Will come back again for a dine in next time.

I wasn’t sure what to expect since my experience with Korean food before I moved to Boise was the LA style AYCI and cook it yourself model. But it was beautiful. I have been searching Boise for great Korean food and I think I finally found it. I went for takeout, a Korean food first for me because of the reason above, which was probably a mistake. Sure, you get to eat your galbi with shameless abandon from the privacy of home, but then you miss out on the japchae and other goodies that they serve when you dine in. Next time, that’ll be me for sure. We got the spicy pork galbi and beef galbi dishes along with the bibimbap and everything was delicious. The meats were super juicy and tender, and the bibimbap came with plenty of each dish to share with my boyfriend. Everything was great, will definitely be coming back.

In my opinion, this is the BEST Korean restaurant in town. They offer authentic Korean food. I would say they are the closest to home-made Korean food. Spicy seafood soup(jjam-bong), Seafood silk tofu stew, kimchi jigae are some of my favorites. And their side dishes are different every day. The owner lady also reminds me of a tyipcal Korean mom. She is really concerned if you don’t like the food and is so happy when you finish everything on the table. When that happens(which is almost every case for me), she even thanks you for liking her food! I actuallly asked this lady to raise the price(ok, peeps, their prices are way too low!) because I want her to make enough money to keep the business going. And her response was rather moving. She said, she feels like feeding her family now. In a short time, they earned many regular customers who come a few times a week, and it is her pleasure watching them come back for more food. I love her Korean mommy spirit! To avoid possible negative comments, I want to share one thought. Growing up in Korea and now having to experience culture here, I realize some of cultural differences can be taken as rudeness. But without knowing the other culture, please don’t take it personally when they don’t smile at you. It is NOT natural to smile at people even when you have eye contact in some cultures. :) And of course, language barriers can make things worse at times. Only downside of the place is that they don’t serve any alcohol at all. BUT… I can certinaly bypass that part for a great Korean meal. So please check out this place — I want this place to stay open forever!

I guess they changed ownership from the first time I visited. Most of the Chinese menu is gone. Now their menu consists of mostly Korean food and a few teriyaki options. FOOD: My boyfriend and I came in for take out. I had daeji bulgogi/spicy pork and he had jajangmyeon/black bean noodle. The spicy pork portion was really big. The jajangmyeon was good for 1 person. Both tasted really good! Because of the good experience, I decided to come with friends from work after that. I had chicken teriyaki and beef. Teriyaki sauce was good, but the chicken was rather dry. Apparently the beef in this dish was bulgogi. I thought it was going to be beef teriyaki. Bulgogi was rather bland, I was expecting more sweetness. I wasn’t a fan of that dish. Side note, when you dine in, you can get a free hot tea! PLACE/AMBIANCE: They have a pretty large space. Plenty of seating was available on both visits. The ambiance is slightly off. I can’t point my finger on it, but I don’t feel like in an Asian restaurant when I’m inside. Not sure why. There’s a few parking spaces in the front of restaurant. SERVICE: On one occasion I dined in, the service was good. Our server was attentive and checked on us a few times. No complaints here!

The four of us came here for lunch after I heard that they’ve been on under new ownership since Dec’15. We got seated right away which is a good sign. We ordered Beef Bulgogi, Beef Short Ribs(Galbi), Daegi Galbi(Pork Ribs) and Kimchi Jijae(Kimchi Stew)! They gave us 8 side dishes(Banchan) to snack on. I am impressed! Our food soon arrived. They all tasted good, I am so glad that we come here. I love love love Korean Food. Every time I go out of state I «HAVE» to go to Korean Restaurants! Sure, it’s not as good as what you get in Portland or Seattle, but for Boise this is my first choice to go! We noticed that a lot of Korean people dined there while were there! That’s a good indicator that the food is good. I hope that they add more Korean dishes on their menu, such as Japchae & Seafood Pancakes! After all the good food, service, ambiance, decent prices I can say that we will definitely be back!

I’ve given Mr. Wok a couple more tries since my first review. Here’s an update: The food remains mediocre. That being said, it’s in my opinion that there isn’t a Chinese restaurant in Boise that merits anything higher than a mediocre rating. As such, they’re par for course and I won’t be dropping my rating for them because of it. The ambiance is still really poor. A fairly large space with oddly colored brown walls, a large TV that only ever has the news on it, and the coup de gras: a fantastic bar area… where they keep napkins, plates, to-go boxes… it hurts my heart to see it go to waste. The back area where horseshoes were once commonly played has gone to the weeds. It remains an average, boring Chinese restaurant akin to everything else in our area.
