Usually I go here when grabbing lunch after shopping at the plaza. Experience is pretty good. Well, the time there — will be just that — my last time. Chicken teriyaki dish had a huge bone in it and what wasn’t bone was gristle. Very nasty. I dumped the whole thing in trash. Then I went to cashier, waiting some time to have her finish her conversation with the man standing on counter handing out free samples. Told her about situation and she said that she’d tell kitchen. That’s it. No apology, nothing.

Maybe we got them on an off day but our dinners were mediocre at best. My husband got the sushi and I had steak with fried rice. It’s not busy here today, there’s no excuse for me having to ask for napkins twice before the waitress brought them. My husband asked for spicy mayonnaise when his meal was delivered. By the time she brought it to him he was ¾ of the way done with dinner. With these prices mediocre just doesn’t cut it. Disappointed. Btw, no free refills here for soda… I guess I’ll stick with the Cheesecake Factory.

Everytime I go to the mall I can’t help but buy some of their chicken teriyaki. It always smells so good and always tastes great. Like many other people, I’ve been eating at this place for many years now and hopefully many more to come! The prices are fair and the taste is always mouthwatering.

I tend to turn here for eats when I’m at the South Shore Plaza but man, have the lines gotten out of control recently. Is there some sort of secret that I’m not aware of? I’ve been waiting in lines 10 — 15 deep. The griddle is only so large to have a particular amount of orders cooking at one time. Anyway, white rice, shredded veggies including carrots and cabbage with chicken is all you need to know here. Don’t order anything else, it won’t be worth it. This is what makes Sarku tick and what they do best. They accept credit cards, a plus. The staff is usually friendly and they will also offer up extra sauce so ask for it upon being handed your food. It’s only a $ 1 extra to double meat, another added bonus.

I’ve been eating here for years, love the taste but unfortunately my whole family has paid the consequences. We ate here over the weekend and we all have been sick with vomiting, diarrhea and headaches. While looking back to the past two days this is the only place where we all eat the same food. Health over taste!

I’m definitely a sucker for the chicken teriyaki over white rice… make sure you ask for extra sauce… when you are in front of the person cooking.(i dont know why it’s called japanese or why people think it is. it’s definitely created in america) haha. I always find it delicious and it’s not too expensive… I usually go to CVS beforehand to grab a drink, because i just don’t feel like getting a fountain drink… i mean, they’re not any good are they? This is #1 place I will order from at any food court. I think I just love rice and loads of sauce. mm mm good. If this place is dirty, i’m sure every other place in that food court is, whatever. As long as I don’t see a cockroach, i am a-okay as for the«daily special»? it’s always here and it’s the special — hence«daily special!» jk

Fast, cheap, and ok food. Its in the mall, so they push food out like a factory. They don’t have time to interact with you because their a line. You get to watch them cook your food.

This is my little food sin place. I love this place for mall food, and the sushi was actually pretty good! I get the Teriyaki Chicken(I ask for extra chicken and extra sauce) very good!

This was the worst choice at the South Shore Plaza food court. I really regretted it. I should have walked away when I asked for chicken tempura(prominent on the menu) and the woman behind the counter flatly stated they don’t have it. No apologies, no smile, no explanation. I was the only customer. I ordered the chicken teriyaki instead. Then a tall young man behind the counter slapped two huge piles of white rice onto styrophome container and then sprinkled a few bits of cabbage and carrots. I was horrified when he turned around, took the lid off a large lined trashcan on the floor and, using a large square bulk scoop, dug out a huge sticky glop of whitish lumpy stuff and plopped it onto the grill in front of me behind the glass. I watched him poke it around and spread around. It was totally gross! I don’t think customers were supposed to see where he got that stuff. Another guy behind the counter scooped up some already cooked teriyaki chicken stuff that was piled in a corner of the grill. He then put some on my pile of rice and asked me if I wanted some sauce. He then ladeled some watery brown stuff on top of my «food.»(I think they must have added water to whatever the sauce was to cut corners and save having to restock it.) Needless to say, ordering and being served was off-putting to put it mildly. I decided not to ask for a refund before eating but told myself I would pick over what I could. I found the chicken was a bunch of unidentifyable parts and skin(mainly dark meat) and the flavor was very bland. There were a lot of bad parts of chicken in the mix and I only ate some of it before throwing it away. I have strong reservations about the people working at Sarku. They did not seem at all concerned with the product they were putting out for paying customers. They seemed like they were there just for a paycheck and customers and food really had no meaning to them. I really wish I had waited for a seat at Johnny Rockets or had some pizza nearby. I strongly recommend against Sarku.

It’s the most busy of all places in this food court, sans Dunkin Donuts in the morning. Not sure why. The advertised«daily special» has been the special since I was going here in middle school. Nearly ten years ago. It’s basically a slab of unseasoned rice, a scoop of dead and limp vegetables(cabbage and a carrot) and a big scoop of meat chunks on top. I’ve had it several times. When I was younger, I loved the meat and its sauce, but I find it just so bland and unappealing nowadays. My manager had a coupon for a free meal, and found it so bad she just threw it out. I had a coupon for a free meal a few months ago, and I did the same thing. They have sushi as well, which is generic and plain. I wouldn’t trust the quality of the fish, but the vegetable rolls I get tend to be typical supermarket level quality. Decent, but nothing special. Staff always yells at the next person in line, no matter how backed up it gets.

Eating at the mall food court is usually your first mistake, opting for the Asian restaurant is usually the second, and regretting it all after you’ve chosen it is pretty much the final kick in the nuts. Anyways, Sarku is pretty generic except they have sushi. Though my common sense got the best of me and I didn’t order any. They run a special of the day(today was Chicken Teriyaki) for $ 4.99 that comes with steamed rice and vegetables(more on that in a sec) — which EVERYONE orders. You can double meat that for an additional $ 0.99. All with a big ass drink for $ 1.89. So, the steamed rice and vegetables. They have big rice cookers which I marveled at during my 10 minute wait. But they don’t cook the rice in them. No, they cook the rice in the back and then lug the finished pots of rice so they can sit in the cookers up front. Odd. The veggies? Yeah, shredded lettuce, a few broccoli florets, and maybe a carrot slice. Gross and uninspired. All the food comes lumped on top of itself in a styrofoam container. A tasteless blob, really. The wait is long, the service is ok, the food is bland at best, yet the prices are low. You can go, I will skip this next time though.

Okay, I admit it, I left work a little early today to go shopping! BUT I needed a calorie fix before I was shoving my arms full of Forever 21 goodies and helping a friend pick out her graduation dress. But just my luck, its very hard to be a vegetarian who is trying to eat healthy(aka no fries, pizza, ice cream) while eating in the mall! Jonny Rockets, two types of Pizza, Meat dishes galore! Finally we decided to head to Sarku Japan that had 7 chefs(3 times as many workers as any other stand) behind the counter, all wearing red chef hats. Maybe this is a good sign? They are usually busy? No, in fact our food was soooo very slow! I ordered the vegetable dish(mostly cabbage a few carrots and broccoli on rice) an avocado roll and a water. My friend got a tuna and California roll with a water. Everything total came to just about $ 15, which was not bad, expect that my «Vegetable Dish» was really simply a side missing the main course :( Oh well! At least it was enough to get us through a successful shopping trip! 3 stars for being the healthiest option in the mall, thank you for trying Sarku!
