Love this place! Great gelato, great shaved ice! I’m a shaved ice junkie and this place makes it well. Fine ice, lots of syrup options. Fairly cheap price tag. The only reason I deducted a star is the staff. None seem to be particularly enthused or helpful. My fiancé and I were looking at shaved ice flavors and we saw one called«silver fox». We asked what it tasted like. The girl says«Uhhh I don’t think we even have that one.» They did. We pointed it out to her. «Oh.» She says. Again we ask about the flavor. «Not sure.»… Well, ok. Finally a guy behind the counter rummaged around and produced a list of the flavors and told us it was almond and vanilla. Don’t know why it had to be like pulling teeth. Oh well, I’ll still go.

I loved the Gelato. I haven’t been here in a few years but the service and the cookies were still great! Mint chocolate chip gelato and a snicker doodle sandwhich cookie was quite scrumptious!

As far as cookies are concerned, Christie Cookies are some of the best I’ve ever had. So addicting! Because of the cookies alone, this place gets five stars. They also serve gelato, which I tried recently. Had the peach which was good. Got the small and they pack in in the little cup with as much piled on as possible. I do have to say I’ve had better gelato in the area though. They had a few interesting flavors, but nothing too creative. I also sampled the almond and passion fruit flavors which were good.

Went here after Chili’s for some gelato for dessert. Had a pint of, if I remember correctly, what was called«Cookie Monster» which had all of their cooking(except peanut butter) crumbled up and mixed into vanilla gelato. Think cookies and cream on steroids. It was absolutely delicious and a pure flavor experience. So good in fact that it left me wishing I had suggested such a flavor for the Unilocal event there a few months back. I really need to take my family here some time.

Before this place opened up, it was a Maggie Moos that went out of business. Honestly, there’s nothing really wrong with this place. It’s just that people have become a bit desensitized to specialty ice cream. We’ve seen it all by now. Especially with the froyo screaming for more and more business, there isn’t much pizazz that this place has to offer. Yes, this place is different because is serves Christie’s cookies, but the cookies are dense and brick like. They offer a icecream sandwich made on the spot. But the functionality of the sandwich is lost. By the time you can bite through the cookie, the ice cream has already oozed out of the sides and onto your shirt. I broke two spoons trying to eat the sandwich out of the bowl. Is it any different than a Maggie Moos, Cold Stone, or Marble Slab… Not really. Why not cut the costs and just sell good old fashion ice cream? A group of my friends almost went a second time, but instead we walked over to the Publix next door and bought ice cream for the whole group at the price of a single serving of Bravo Gelato. Fads come and go, but good old fashion ice cream can always be counted on.

Since 2003 Christie Hauck has been producing Bravo Gelato Italian ice cream. This artisian gelato is inspired by one of Hauck’s visits to Italy where he observed some of the finer blending recipes. My favorite flavors of this locally owned desserterie tend to be Olive and Sinclair chocolate mint, cinnamon cayenne, or Mexican. Bravo Gelato uses artisan Olive and Sinclair chocolates in several of their gelatos like the peanut butter flavored. They’re all good, but only one or two are usually in the Brentwood store at any moment. Other cool flavors I like are Pumpkin, Goo Goo Cluster, Capuccino, Sorghum, Dulce De Leche and Malaga. I love frozen gelato particularly since it is lower fat than cream-based ice cream and it’s smoother too. We’re privileged to have middle-Tennessee headquartered frozen treat companies like Sweet Cece’s and Bravo Gelato. Of course Haulk sells Christie Cookies too, but I tend to savor the gelatos when I visit.
