DONOT join this place unless you plan to die still paying them. It takes an act of God and a bank robbery to get out of the contract. The workout program/system in theory isn’t all that bad but it is the most unfriendly, unhelpful gym facility I have ever been associated with. They are VERY motivated to get you signed on the dotted line but after that, it’s all about the money. Let this be a cautionary tale — read all the fine print before you commit your money and time to this place!

The Koko Fitclub is a gym for people who don’t know how to work out, which is why I go there. The machines(cardio and strength) tell you what to set the machine to, how fast to go, how many times to do it etc. The strength workout change from day to day and as you improve, the workouts become harder. There are three different programs: maintain, strength, and fat loss. I am on the maintain program and so far I’ve increased my strength 40%. For cardio workouts you get to choose what workout you do. If you want something hard it will be lots of incline, fast. While doing cardio you can listen to a trainer give you tips for healthy living or listen to your own music. The idea is that you come in and jump on a cardio machine(treadmill or elliptical) do a 15 minute interval workout and then move to the Smarter Trainer(strength) for a 30 minute workout. This means that your work out will take no more than 45 minutes(or less if you don’t have the time for both). Speaking from personal experience this amount of time is very difficult to talk myself out of investing in. I mean letsbehonest the first 45 minutes that I get home I usually spending screwing around looking at the latest Garden & Gun. The community is also really great. The machines are always clean. The employees are nice. The people are nice but not so much that people are socializing and looking for new best friends. The music is really varied so you get a little bit of everything. Another nice feature is that the club has some incentive programs to help get you motivated. One is the lanyards. Everything time you workout you earn points. Cardio workouts are 500 points and strength workouts are from probably like 900‑1000, it depends on how well you do. When you first join you will be given a white lanyard, once you earn 50,000 points you get a orange lanyard etc. You will also do strength tests periodically. The data from these tests(and all your workouts) is avalible online so you can actually see how much you’ve grown. They also have a lean muscle scale that you use to determine how much muscle you have. Those results are also stored online so you can see your growth. Koko also maintains a bulletin board where they post top weight lifted, perfect scores etc. All and all this concept is well thought out. If you are at all interested in learning more, I would definitely go in for a trial.

I love this place. The staff is amazing and the place is always clean. It’s small and personal and not just a meat market like some gyms can be. Plus the Koko workout program is like having your own personal trainer at a fraction of the cost!
