I wasn’t exactly excited about the thought of going to a doctor in a Walgreen’s, but then again, I wasn’t excited about the thought of going to a doctor at all. I’m probably more qualified to write this review than the average Unilocal foodie who eats out 300 nights a year reviewing the corner bar and grill. Seriously, I’ve been to more doctors than your grandma with the trick hip. I have plenty a basis for comparison, and have spent more time inside a doctor’s office waiting room than I have inside of gyms, college lecture halls, and strip clubs combined. There were definite pros and cons to going to a doctor IN a Walgreen’s: –Not having to make an appointment(a pro AND a con… Walk in whenever you feel like it, but there will probably be a line. Then again, most doctors nowadays are so far behind schedule that you have to wait even when you have an appointment, and waiting when you DON’T have an appointment sucks way less than waiting when you do.) –Privacy was a con. The«waiting area» was stuck in between the cough syrup and diabetes supplies aisle next to the pharmacy. Dudes waiting for their monthly Viagra supplies and little old ladies buying a week’s worth of medication tried to sit as far away from me as possible as I coughed up a lung, feebly attempting to aim into my palm as I sneezed. –Boredom was not an issue. People-watching was at its prime. I would almost consider the pharmacy of a Walgreen’s as better than the airport. And if that got boring, you’re in a f**king Walgreen’s, for God’s sake. Go try on 50 shades of eyeshadow. Or peruse the magazine aisle and catch up on the latest issue of Cosmo… errrr I mean Esquire. –The pharmacy is RIGHTTHERE. So you don’t have to drive across town to get the meds they will inevitably prescribe you. –Although the wait was awful, the actual doctor(okay, Physician’s Assistant, or whatever they call them) was great. Probably the most thorough exam I’ve had in a long time. She REALLY took her time with me. Granted, a computer prompted her what questions to ask me, but nowadays almost all my doctors are researching crap on their blackberries while I’m in there, so I’ve just accepted that doctors do the same Google search that I do. –The doc not only took her time, but had great bedside manner, and thought of the little things, like if I needed a doctor’s note for work or not. –I was able to look up online before I went and see how long the wait was. The wait time online was extremely accurate. –They took my insurance, which means it was just a normal copay! –Evening and weekend hours… even Sunday. All-in-all, a great experience. I couldn’t really ask for more. Would definitely return, but I hope I don’t have to. Take care, Take Care Clinic.
