The Guinness stew is life-changing! And fish fry is delicious. Good food, beer and atmosphere… what more could you ask for?!

Tonight our service was poor, the Shepards pie and Guinness stew need lots of seasoning, garlic onion salt. The music was very loud we had to yell at each other. Menu is ala carte, way to over priced for the food that is served. Will not go back — never!!!

I love Irish Times. On the really warm weekend nights, this place can really get busy. Most of the other times, you can get a seat quickly. My family eats here more than anywhere else in the area. I’ve had a lot of the food here so this is what i will say: the Burgers, Fish & Chips, Guinness Stew, and Ruben are all great! Go with one of those and you will leave happy. The Corned Beef and Turkey Sandwich is ok. I’ve heard the Fish Tacos are not good. They always have a Buckledown and Lagunitas beer on tap along with a handful of other craft beer selections. If you are in the area, it is worth a stop.

A local favorite! I love this place. Great food and friendly staff. They have a nice selection of craft beers on tap. And you can always get a quality Black and Tan or half and half.

This place has really good Irish food! the shepherds pie here was great! The amount of food you got with it was good for the price. i would of preferred brown bread instead of soda bread but over all it was still good. Good Irish feel to the place parts of it are a little out dated but looks like they are getting some updates done. The service is slow around the lunch time even though no one is really there. But good food good drinks ill be back.

My favorite bar to grab some drinks and have fun in a cozy, cute little place close to home. Love the beer garden in the summer! The staff is always friendly and welcoming!

Great atmosphere, feels like Ireland without having to fly there. Delicious foods. Out of all the yumm yumm apps, I always start with the mozzarella sticks. Outstanding beer selection and fun working staff. Seems so friendly. Nice beer garden. Can’t wait for it to warm to pay the outside garden a visit. Cheers to a fun place. Overall good beer, music, FOOD, and friendly staff. Recommend you go for a pint and a plate.

Food is a little pricey and there are mice in their outside area. Good music, didn’t have to pay a juke box to hear good music.

This place is a solid three star Irish Pub. What Irish Times has going for it is the ambiance. Wood floors, wood tables, cool carved wooden art behind the bar, some wood paneling, hunter green walls, fireplace with exposed brick wall, nice comfortable temperature, and cool Christmas decorations! Food is hit or miss. The fried pickles were way too salty, with a weird breading that was chewy. Ended up sending these back, and getting the pretzel bites instead. These were a good, fresh, middle-of-the-road appetizer. It’s $ 2 extra if you want cheese though. Decent beer selection with a good number of drafts– about 25, and another 30 beers or so of bottled imports or domestics. Service is not bad but not great. They are friendly, and seem to have enough staff for a fairly busy Friday night. The only thing is that we had to flag down the waitress a few times for refills or other requests. Overall, this is a solid joint. It’s a nice addition to this neighborhood.

This is a fun restaurant that my family and I usually go to eat at. They have really great outside seating/eating area that is perfect for those warm summer days, to sit out and enjoy the scenery. Whenever I go there, I tend to order their yummy chicken tenders and a side of fresh fries that taste amazing. I hope you get the chance to swing by this place sometime. It is really worth the visit!

Irish Times has the best fish and chips I’ve ever tasted; soft and juicy on the inside while having a light crisp on the outside. Went on a Saturday and it was busy but our order was brought in a timely manner and the staff was friendly. I would definitely come back just for their fish & chips platter.

Slainte! Im not a local, so when my sister in law took me here, I was surprised by how«authentic» this place is, from the décor to the wooden chairs, to the Jameson Whiskey bottles surronding the main bar. I liked the shipwrecked paintings hanging from the walls. Very Irish to me, this place was packed with tons of people. The vibe was good. We ordered two beers and we had the Irish Times Burger, which comes with Bacon, Blue Cheese on a Pretzel Bun. It was delicious, I was worried about the bun being too thick, but it was very soft and fluffy! Very very good! I would definitly recommend this bar for it’s authenticy, great staff and great food. There was also music coming from the outdoor patio, but there were not seats left, make sure to come early to grab a seat if you are there to see a band.

Feelin’ Irish? Go here. Even if you’re not feelin’ it, go here anyway. Passed by on a Friday night and surprised by the mixed crowd. There were chicks my age dressed really cute in blouses and blazers, other bro-type dudes in shorts, other-side-of-the-tracks types, and group of people lookin like my parents but really wasted. There was a Dj in the other room playing all kinda of hip-hop, even some trap music. Kinda weird seeing moms pop it, but entertaining nonetheless. Service was a little weird at first since you sit yourself, so the servers don’t know if you need help or not. Once that was straightened out, it was a-ok. We had the Brussels which were bomb, him the reuben and, I the fish and chips. He said his was superb and mine was unbelievably great. Honestly, they were within the top 5 fish and chips I’ve had in my life. Also the price tag just made me fall in love. Everything is so damn affordable. Will I be back? Hell to the Yes.

After my first«four-star» visit to this restaurant-bar, I took some friends who said they always wanted to try it. When the waitress greeted us and took our drink orders, she was informed that everyone in the group would be needing separate checks. Quite incredibly, she said, «One check per table!» Again, I am really disappointed and surprised at the few places that have this one-check policy. Especially at a bar-restaurant where friends meet, the establishment should understand that there are many instances in which nobody picks up the check for the entire group but only pays for their own. Another reason I — and some of my acquaintances — like to pay individually is because one person in the group refuses to tip anyone, anywhere. With separate checks, the waitress knows which one in the group doesn’t tip and who the good tippers are — which is obviously good for any server’s future reference. From what I observed, the notorious«no-tipper» in the group lived up to his reputation while everyone else in the group tipped at least 25 percent. Therefore, for a variety of reasons, the«one check per table» policy at this place needs to stop. As for the«two-star» rating… Everyone had sandwiches with fries. My sandwich — with corned beef — had a couple chunks of unchewable fat in it. The French fries were not fresh. They were somewhat chewy and appeared to have been sitting for good while. When the checks came, the waitress brought separate checks after all — with a fanfare in which she announced: «I did this for you!» After the checks were dropped off, drink refills and all service stopped as well. Suggestions: No debate on separate checks — just do it when you’re asked to do it — and don’t expect thanks for doing it. It’s part of the job. A server may be asked to do it for reasons that they don’t even understand — as I explained with a ‘no-tipper’ in the group. Additionally, announcing«one check per table» gets the customers-server’s relationship off to an incredibly rocky start. It’s obviously not an enjoyable way to start a dining experience. Also, servers need to keep the beverage service coming after checks are dropped off — especially when she sees that most of the people in the group are very good tippers. After all, if there is a ‘next time,’ the service — or lack of service — will definitely be remembered by the customers.

Amazing Irish pub!!! I had the Dublin Coddle and it was great! It was potatoes, bacon, and sausage! What’s not to like?!? I had the chicken fingers for an app and they were the best chicken fingers I ever had!!! They were beer-battered so very soft breading. The chicken itself was so moist: perfectly cooked!!! Also, tasty Guinness on tap. Lastly, they had a special drink special: $ 10 for a shot of Jameson and a t-shirt!!! The shirt was a green Irish Times shirt. Great atmosphere and excellent servers. I will be back next time I am in town!

We came here the day before St. Patrick’s Day because I wanted to celebrate by trying my first ever guinness and I’ve heard they pour a good one here. It was one of the first decent days in Chicago weather-wise in quite some time, so we elected to eat in the back. I was really struck by how big this place is! Plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, making this the perfect place for any weather. I decided on the fish and chips as well as the aforementioned Guinness. The fish was very bountiful. There were three pieces! It also came out piping hot, so I had to wait a bit before I could bite into it. I enjoyed dipping the fish into the yummy tartar sauce. There was also cole slaw in a little plastic container, which I brought home along with the rest of my fish leftovers. We definitely polished off the fries, though! The Guinness was… Guinness. I was proud to say I finished the entire thing here – my first Guinness ever! I can’t wait to come back here in the future to sample more of the menu. I saw on their Facebook page that they just recently started serving a housemade veggie burger, which looks especially delicious. Irish Times is a fantastic local hangout place for a drink or a meal. If you’re from the area, I imagine the probability of seeing someone you know is high!

Fantastic! We dined here with our children on Friday night for the fish and chips special. By far, this is the best version of fish and chips I have ever had! Delicious! Service was fantastic… thoughtful, helpful, and prompt. Jenna was our server. Even the busser for our table stopped over to make sure we were OK. Very impressive attention to detail. In fact, all of the staff members seemed happy to be there. We were seated in the back building, which was cozy and very nice. My only complaints(which are minor) are that it was a hassle not having a bathroom in the back building(especially with kids) and it was cold and icy walking between the buildings(and dark!). Cannot wait for our next visit.

I came here with a couple girl friends for a ladies night out. I was really impressed by the food and nod in agreeance with previous reviews. We weren’t in a hurry at all, but we couldn’t help but witness that the service was slower than I’d normally expect. I love that they offer more than just typical bar food and they have a great variety of menu items. If you click«menu» on the Unilocal page though, it’s completely inaccurate. I got my hopes up for some of the menu items listed, but they do change everything seasonally. We were also treated with entertainment. There were some young Irish dancers that did a great job. I had the clam chowder, the cajun pork and cheddar sandwich and we also split the bread pudding and the chipotle fritters. All of the menu items I tried were really tasty. I wasn’t expecting much from the clam chowder, but it was great. The sandwich had really bold flavors that went well together. I wanted to drink the stout mustard from a jar, that’s how good it was. The bread pudding was OK, but I can’t say I’ve ever had bread pudding so that could be a personal preference. The chipotle fritters were sooo good that I wanted to steal the whole thing from my friends and let them eat the bread pudding. Our server was friendly when she was around. We did have to flag down another server a few times, but she was apologetic and improved our experience. I highly recommend The Irish Times for any occasion. Just make sure you’re not in a hurry.

Having had nothing to eat since breakfast, we were starving. We were on our way to an event close by, not knowing what time dinner would be served at that event, we stopped here for a little something. I am sorry I was not here to eat dinner. Everything that everyone was eating looked delicious. As food passed us on its way to be devoured, we kept saying things like, «Let’s try that when we come back,» or «That looks reeeeeeeeeeeeeeally good.» We were warmly welcomed, the place had a very friendly vibe, and not knowing there was a fireplace, we were seated in front of it. Perfect on a winter’s evening. As Yvonne B. said, the tables wobble and the chairs creek, but it all works. It is much larger than you think upon walking in. The room to the right is the room with the fireplace and we were told there were 2 rooms to the left. There is a small bar area when you enter and there is a slightly larger bar in the fireplace room. There is a mix of high top tables and regular height along with the limited bar seating. There is also a small outdoor area when weather is better. There were families, couples, singles, friends, a party of 10 and everyone was having a good time. We each had a cup of soup and split an appetizer. They were all tasty. Soup could have been served warmer, but it hit the spot. Can’t wait to go back for dinner. They also have daily specials, some are food, others are beverages. Large beer selection. Stop in and enjoy.

What I love about The Irish Times is that it’s authentic, familiar, and comfortable. It doesn’t try too hard to carry a theme. It’s more like, «This is who I am and that’s that.» The tables rock and the chairs creek. The fireplace cackles and the bartenders are friendly. They’ve served me promptly with a smile. They have a great sense for knowing if I want to talk or if I feel like being left alone to read my book. The bartenders at The Irish Times pour a perfect pint of Guinness. In fact, they were the first people to show me how it’s done over three pints(I didn’t drink all of them myself). It’s a two part pour and it takes six steps( ). There’s actually a lot of nerdy factoids about Guinness and I encourage you to ask the professionals at Irish Times about them. The food is super yummy too. I’ve had their Traditional Irish Breakfast, Fish & Chips, and Winter Salad as entrees. I think that the Traditional Irish Breakfast and Fish & Chips might be my favorite I’ve ever had anywhere. I’ve also sampled numerous other dishes from friends and sides of my own. Try the bread! They bake it fresh and I love it! The owner, Martin, is a young-ish guy from Ireland and is super cool. He got the bar from his uncle who retired back to Ireland. Martin told me that The Irish Times is exactly what a pub would be like if you walked into a pub in Ireland and I believe him. I’ve been to The Irish Times for dinner with friends and family as well as for lunch by myself. It’s felt perfect every time.
