I’m always skeptical about Mexican food. It seems like every time i get Mexican I’m always disappointed. Starving at midnight i went on my seamless web app and saw Chinantla. This was new so i had to check it on Unilocal.Pretty decent reviews and not too many pics to base the food off of and not to mention it was a Mexican grocery store! Super weary i decided to order anyway solely based off the aguas fresca since i really wanted one. I decided to go with a beef quesadilla(can’t really mess up a quesadilla) and i wanted the Tamarindo aguas fresca and a watermelon one but i was ordering kind of late so I got the horchata instead since i know they always have that. The food got here pretty fast and the delivery guy was very nice. When i opened up my container i was surprised. It’s rare you see authentic Mexican food and this was it. The tortilla was freshly made and it wasn’t a circle like most quesadilla. It was topped with cheese and refried beans and the inside was stuffed with steak, onions and gooey cheese. It was absolutely delicious! A mini side avocado salad accompanied it as well! And the horchata!!! My god! I think the best I’ve had in a long time! It had a delicious cinnamon-y taste and not watered down like most! I will most definitely be ordering from here again, i want all the aguas frescas!!!(Preggy cravings!)

Have never Unilocaled before, but I want to give say thank you to chinantla. They deserve everyone’s business. Incredibly authentic, reasonably priced yet large portioned, beautiful food. Always so kind and happy to help. Go above and beyond every single time. Thank you!

I mostly order delivery from Chinantla on Seamless as it has become one of my go to food options. I love the mariscos soup, beef enchilada, cemitas among other options. Really simple, flavorful, and affordable food that tastes really authentic. The deliveries have mostly been close to 45 minutes to an hour, and they are nice over the phone– all of which makes it a better choice than most Mexican places I see on seamless in the area.

Awww man now the Guac price is gonna go up. They hid the joint in the back for a reason guys… OK I confess the food is excellent and fairly priced. Please don’t do anything to change that OK? PS the peppers are for real, not canned and pickled this ain’t Chiptole, this is not a drill.

Well, we decided to give this place another go, and we’re so glad we did! Chinantla has now become our GO-TOPLACE for tacos! Generous, fresh, well seasoned, delicious. Best we’ve been able to find in the neighborhood(and we have tried pretty much all of ‘em!) Guac and homemade chips are splendid as well. Chinantla, we salute you!

Deli in the front, restaurant in the back. This is a hidden gem serving up great tacos on Myrtle Ave. These are among the best tacos I’ve had in NYC. Try the grilled goat tacos, they’re amazing.

I’ve ordered from here twice, and both times it was great. Until I found several long hairs in my food the second time I ordered from here. There is no reason I should be picking long hairs out of my food… gross.

This place is my go to when it comes to Mexican. The portions are huge(which I love) and pretty cheap. They deliver super fast too! Being from California, I know when I have good/authentic Mexican… and this is it. The chicken enchiladas are pretty spicy and I love it.

This is my go to Mexican take out spot. Super cheap, large quantities, quick delivery, delicious food. The tacos are always loaded(barbecoa or spicy pork when they’re out of barbacoa), although their tortas could be a little bigger! :) Still amazing but I’m used to Mexican restaurants making huge tortas. Their taco salad is really good too, it just seems every time I order it there are different ingredients in it, haha. It’s always spot on though. Their juices are delicious too!

Got takeout earlier today, cool/divey sit-down space in the back and nice selection of produce/cheese/snacks/drinks in the front. I got a huge! burrito, which came with a small salad as well as some guac(so tasty, awesome lime flavor without being overwhelming) and an additional styrofoam container filled with chips. All of it was wonderful and very filling, leftovers for sure. The women who greeted us spoke limited English, but let us know immediately and happily figured out a way for us both to communicate. I’ll be back for sure!

I ordered a mushroom quesadilla. I was unaware that there would be an abundance of jalapenos in it. I love spicy, but the peppers they used were so spicy that I couldn’t eat the food. I was in tears after 2 bites. I was also kind of annoyed that they didn’t cut the qusadilla.

I had dirty scotch tape in the middle of a sandwich. Like bit into it, pulled out a piece of disgusting tape that had marker writing on it. I used to eat here quite a bit. Decent food, cheap prices, and delivers later than most in the neighborhood. Never again. When I informed them of this they said I had to come in to the store to get my refund(it had been a delivery order). Then when I got there they made me wait forever, and were crazy rude. To top it off they wouldn’t refund my order, they would only give $ 10 back for a $ 16.33 order. They had no argument, side, or leverage, they just wanted to nickle and dime me over $ 6. On principle it seems like a really bad business decision to make someone who used to be a regular customer so annoyed that they create a Unilocal just to give you a poor review over $ 6. Oh and to top it off, they had gotten the order wrong. All in a days work for the fine folks at Chinantla.

I love this place… it’s one of our favorite places in the neighborhood. The cemitas — oh my! The tacos… YUM! Guacamole…delicious. I only hold back one star for the roasted chicken… we ordered one whole chicken with beans and rice. The chicken was missing one leg and thigh! My boyfriend and I both love dark meat so things got a little awkward until we figured out how to share. Great little place.

(One star is for horrid service) First, let me say that the food is DELICIOUS! Tastes fresh and the portion sizes are plentiful. Kudos to the cooks. The price is right too. Why only one star? The phone/cashier operator is RUDE. She hangs up on you while you’re still talking, catches an attitude if you ask any questions, and if you go in to the store she will say«Are you ready?» with her bitch face. No, «Hey, what can I get you?» Or a nice«How are you?»… No. I don’t need to be coddled but I do want someone to appreciate my business or show some general courtesy. That is not too much to ask. That type of thing really makes me not want to come back. Too bad because like I said the food is really good. If you can stand the bitchiness I say go for it.

Chinantla gets 5 stars for many reasons — 1) It’s delicious 2) It’s really inexpensive and I got a very filling amount of food, with generous portions of quality meat and guac and salsa 3) It’s not widely known of, so there was not wait or crowd. As soon as I ordered, stuff started being made. Also no snobbery or attitude from the servers(which is something I find common in good food venues in BK for some reason). I got 3 tacos: carnitas, carne enchilada, and chorizo(which was a recommendation of the waitress after they didn’t have barbacoa). I usually hate chorizo, and this was delicious. I wil order it again. The carne enchilada too was so so good. The carnitas was good and generously filled but the former two stole its shine and made it seem plainer in comparison. All tacos had great sauce, and were great with squeezes of lime. For $ 9.40(that includes a tip) I’m really happy with this meal and my experience.

FACT: We had friends visiting from Mexico City try, and certify as first-rate, several of Chinantla’s tacos. FACT: Their barbacoa tacos are the main reason why i’m taking so long going fully vegetarian.(Closely followed by my weak will). Tried all of their tacos, huaraches and burritos, all consistently and equally good(ok, if you really can’t pick: barbacoa, carne asada, chorizo, lengua). Guac is perfect. Even the vegetarian taco(pinto beans, rice, salad. etc) is pretty decent, considering. Servings /fillings are atypically generous. Delivery always on time.

Best Mexican in the area and tons of food for the price! Honestly, I’m not a big fan of Mexican food but maybe it’s because I’ve never been to a good spot. I usually find it bland and under seasoned with tough meat. I prefer more Latin like Haitian, Puerto Rican and Dominican food. This place though got it perfect. We got the guacamole and chips, breaded chicken torta, chicken mole platter, and Mexican style steak platter. The guac is super fresh, well textured and the chips hold up well. The torta was awesome! A nice kick from some peppers, well seasoned chicken, and yummy bread. This alone I would at least make this a fav sandwich spot. The bistec wasn’t tough but could of been a little more tender. Mole is hardly ever wrong so no surprises there. I ordered on grubhub and it just said torta. The counter girl called and wanted to check what meat and overall the whole ordering experience to delivery was pleasant. I am only taking off a star because the mole was alllll over the place when it arrived so perhaps they could find a better container for wetter dishes. Additionally, the rice was good but nothing to yell about.

Ok so it’s been almost a year and I still frequent Chinantla and the good new is… they’re so much better! Seems like not only are they running a tighter ship, the food is tasting better. You’ve just gotta know what to order. Here are some bulletproof items that are guaranteed to be delicious: — Chilaquiles con huevos(get the red sauce, green is good too tho) — Huaraches(so good with that fresh handmade tortilla, I like it with the chicken) — Tacos(Carne asada, cesina, chorizo, lengua — all delicious! My friend likes the barbacoa) –Pozole(OMG that pork pozole! So flavorful and they send all the fixings. Note that the hot sauce they’ll provide with this is some cayenne pepper. Wish they had a sauce like my mom makes for pozole but alas it will do) Things to know: –The chicken is awesome, possibly better than the steak. Go with it. –The delivery will be accurately delivered 45min-1 hour later. It’s not that they purposely get you your food that late, it’s that their slammed with deliveries because the food is so good. Also, the closer you live the least wait time you’ll have. I live a mile away and that’s how long I wait. BUT the food is always hot. –The aguas frescas are super good(my faves: jamaica, melon. the tamarindo is a bit too sweet for my liking but the horchata is perfect) All in all, Chinantla has improved drastically in my eyes. I enjoy that they are on Seamless, the delivery guys are always nice. So tip them well. Those guys work hard and aren’t assholes who show up at your door. Always worth an extra dollar. #happyMexican

Better than decent. Awesome guac. Good burritos and tacos. They have a weird approach to sour cream and cheese… melted mozz in the burritos and cheese is used sparingly elsewhere– yet, somehow, I still enjoy the food. The chicken seems better quality than the steak which has been chewy. Enchiladas were so spicy I couldn’t eat them.
