I really like DK kitchen because it offers a HK take on Western food and reminds me so much of some HK cafes that I really like. Their food is fresh and the price is fair. Their fried calamari is amazing with the garlic aioli and their set dinners whether it be seafood or steak is always on point. Service can be a bit slow but they are always very friendly. I have been coming to DK kitchen for many years and was very disappointed when I went there yesterday and found out that they will be closing after 6⁄26 since their lease will be up. I really do hope that they reopen at a new location and I will be sure to visit.

Been here a handful of times for dinner. Always get a reservation. It can be get crowded quick. really dim lighting. They have seasonal decorations in the interior. Friendly staffs. I’ve had . — Hanger steak, lobster & shrimp — get it medium rare!!! good flavor, good amount of seasoning, juicy — Grilled chicken steak, lamb chops, & shrimps — good flavor, thank goodness lamchops are cooked perfectly — Fried Calamari salad — crispy, pretty good — their free toasted garlic bread — yay free bread, crispy — seafood udon — okay taste — curry chicken — not my favorite, curry is lacking flavor, moist chicken — sirloin steak — good meat — buffalo wings — always fresh & hot in temperature, flavor. not so much — pan fried salmon with mash potatoes & vegetables — good salmon, but on dry side, bland/dull mash potatoes & vegetables — borscht soup — not bad, very light, good starter — french fries — not soggy but not as crispy, no seasoning — crab cakes — insanely tiny TIP: 1) CASHONLY 2) They always have their meal/entrée/soup. Always ask about it 3) It’s always the same basic ice cream flavors — don’t bother with it 4) EXPENSIVE 5) Mostly bland food other than the poultry dishes

This place is cash only — which I thought was bothersome. Usually it’s not a huge deal if it’s a cheap eats kind of place — you know each thing is maybe $ 5-$ 10 dollars. Average price per entrée was $ 17 ish which I did not expect as it is a pretty CASUAL Brooklyn asian-fusion restaurant like HK Tea and Sushi that serves comfort food… I brought $ 50 for two people, thinking it was enough, and I was wrong. Anyway, on to the food — we started with cheese fries and baked clams. Both did not leave the best impression. Cheese fries were pretty standard… I mean I could go to Wendy’s and probably get the same thing — maybe even better. Baked clams, wouldn’t really consider it «baked,» or at least not comparable to MUCH better baked clams I’ve had elsewhere. It just seemed kind of stewed? The tomato flavor was overpowering… meh. I ordered the bolognese with rice. Pretty basic. All entrees come with a soup or salad. Ordered the cream of parsnip because they were out of the other soup I initially chose. It just wasn’t my thing and there were no other options. The garlic bread starter was a nice touch. Probably my most favorite thing there that night. The waitress was very nice and constantly came to check up on our table/refill water/tea. Overall the place/food is okay, but not worth the price coupled with the cash-only thing, leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Meal for 2, 2 appetizers, 2 entrees = $ 55. Almost $ 30 a person.

Ok so I didn’t like that you had to order certain items a day in advance(soup and soufflé). Especially since this was my first visit! How are people supposed to know? ! This is why I posted my tip. Any way moving on… they made up for it with the menu and soup choices of the day. The borscht was just like a classic tomato soup with mixed veggies and chunks of beef. The cream of mushrooms was good too, really had a lot of mushroom pieces. And just a touch of cream. Favorites from what my group ordered: sea bass special on the prix fixe menu, smoked duck breast app, and the shrimp with avocado. Even the free toasted garlic bread was delicious(we asked for more). The prix Fixe menu was very economical and had good choices even though I’m allergic to shrimp. We went on a Saturday night but ate at 6pm. Go early to get good parking nearby and seats. The restaurant service was great and attentive. I’d suggest making a reservation. It gets crowded fast. I would totally come back again. Food was nicely prepared and presented.

I came here on valentines day with three other friends cuz it was one of my friend’s favorite spot. To be honest, they exceeded my expectations. For some reason, I was expecting a fast food chinese restaurant. Not to mention that their staff was pretty sweet as well. The place looks like a hong kong and western fusion café. The decorations were pretty cute. For valentines, they had a different and separate menu. So i do not know how the actual menu looks like but my friend did tell me that they increased $ 1 or $ 2 for valentines day. Anyhow, the food was a little pricey but it is still worth the try. I recommend the hangar steak and lobster, it was very good. The steak was cooked at the right point and the lobster was pretty fresh. I also ordered the seafood spaghetti which was a pretty good portion. For appetizers, you must try the portobello mushroom with crabmeat, it was delicious! Good food and staff. Definitely would come more often if only I lived in Brooklyn!

I’ve been here a couple of times over the past couple of years and the food is good. I love their fried chicken wings and steamed mussels. The soup in the steamed mussels is amazing. I would highly recommend these appetizers. The Bolognese is really good too. It comes with an egg on top which is perfectly poached! I left 4⁄5 stars because they’re hours are always a mystery for me. There have been a couple of times they weren’t open when I visited.

Stopped in for lunch and tried their lunch specials which are all 9.95 and come with soup or salad. We had the grilled chicken with spaghetti and black pepper sauce and the grilled pork chop with spaghetti, both with borsch soup. The soup was not as tasty as I’ve had in other restaurants but was decent enough. The grilled chicken and pork chops were cooked perfectly however, lacked seasoning. The spaghetti was nicely cooked and tossed in butter. Overall decent but nothing special. Will come back again and try something different.

I have been here for more than five years and more than 3 times. The food is always fabulous and I love everything there. The food itself really covers everything… Enjoy it I am going to have a dinner with party of six people! Go for it!

Good consistent food. I always get the spaghetti with shrimp. I also get the mussels appetizer. Their crab salad appetizer is real crab, not imitation crab. Their soufflé is the best!!! Sooooo yummy! But the price is a bit on the higher side.

Fusion of Hong Kong and western food. I have been coming here for several years now and the food quality is fairly stable. Their prices have gone up through the years and I find it a bit too pricy now. The crabmeat portobello appetizer is good. There’s a layer of baked cheese on the top, and it’s not too heavy to drown out the crab. The pasta dishes are mediocre. Steaks are thin style which are often served this way in Hong Kong.

I mainly decided to check this place out for their club sandwich. I believe it’s part of their lunch special. The place itself is quiet welcoming in terms of their environment. It is calm and relaxing along with their nice employees. The club sandwich, however, took a while to make, hence the 4 stars. Despite the long wait, I must acknowledge the amazing taste the sand which brought to my taste buds. I also gave their fries a try and must admit they are pretty delicious ! Defiantly wouldn’t mind giving this place a try.

Came here for dinner and the décor is pretty cute inside. This place is a little pricy for Brooklyn standards. What really cost it to lose points is that the food is not good at all. I went with a part of 6 and we all got something different and I’ve never had such a bland meal before in my life. The food was really not memorable and just not tasty ATALL. I gave it two stars because the service was pretty good, but when you go to a restaurant you want to eat something tasty and this didn’t deliver. It’s nice if you live in the neighborhood and don’t wanna travel far for food but I don’t think I’ll give it another try.

the food was just alright. I don’t think i’ll come back here although the weekend’s lunch special is good. $ 9.95 for an entrée & soup/salad/fries(depends what entrée). I ordered the fried pork chop cutlet spaghetti w/lemon tartar sauce & my boyfriend ordered the steak spaghetti. The pork chop was okay. at least better than the spaghetti. Even with the sauce it had no taste. We also got the fish & chips as appetizer. The fish was alright & fries had no taste. Other than that, service was friendly but slow.

I’ve been here twice, my first time at least 4 years ago. The first time, we left very satisfied with the food and service. I have to say the standard does seem to have diminished over the years. Its sad because I found it to be a unique addition, HK style western food, to the area. Parking there is such a hassle so I always thought business would’ve been better if they were located elsewhere. Even though the train station is nearby, a lack of parking as an option definitely hurts business in suburban parts of Brooklyn. Dim lit and plenty of seating. Calamari, and mussels are pretty solid appetizer items. The surf and turf is good. Overall very large portions but not complaining there. They need to pick up the service though.

I really wish I didn’t have to give dream kitchen a two star review because I came here a couple years ago for a small dinner date, and back then the experience would’ve been a 4 star, but it’s sad for me to come back and see that it’s gotten worse from then. If a two star stands for«Meh, I’ve experienced better,» then Dream Kitchen does render a two star review for my experience here because of the poor service. I went in here around 9pm on a Saturday night, and it was pretty empty. Only 3 tables were filled. The décor inside is not bad. There’s a pretty heart shaped light décor on the window, the lights inside are dimly lit, and the music there sounds like your generic z100 playlist or something from Pandora, not bad. So the bads of the night starts with the service. Me and my friend ordered our dishes, him the Pork Cutlet Udon($ 9.50), and my the Bolognaise Pasta($ 14). And after that order, she was nowhere to be found when my friend wanted to get something else to drink, since we got no refills on our waters the whole meal. I turned around many times to try to see if there were any waitresses around, like say the two that had served us our meals, but all I saw was the top of their heads behind the register talking to each other. The only time I could get their attention was when I needed(had to) to get the check because they were closing down and setting up the restaurant for the next day. And so my friend waited the whole meal to finally get the fruit punch he wanted because he was so thirsty by the end of the meal. If the food was good, it would’ve bumped up the review by another star, but it was nothing spectacular either. It’s nothing you can’t make at home yourself. And there wasn’t a wide selection of dishes either on the menu. So yes, overall, average food and a lack of service renders a 2 star review. I don’t feel I’d come back to this place.

–1 star for service. It took 40mins for the appetizer and breadsticks to come out! –1 star for forgetting our soup and asking us if we were sure we didn’t get our soup! Hello, why would we lie to you? Our spoons were still in the placemat holder! Besides thst, it took 10mins to get a waitress’ attention. –1 star for not refilling our tea after we received our food. The waitress kept refilling our tea during the entire 40 mins that we waited, but as soon as the food came our, we were ignored. –1 star for rushing us to pay the check. If the food came out earlier, we would have finished dinner in a reasonable amount of time and the group that arrived for their dinner wouldn’t have had to wait for their table. Being apologetic about rushing us to pay when giving us the check doesn’t really help. Conclusion: the food was good, but if you value service, don’t come here.

This place is certainly out of the way, but I was craving some HK style«western» food. I miss those set lunches and dinners! My friends and I came here for lunch, it wasn’t very crowded. The décor was nice, kind of casual/chic. I saw that they were ironing their denim placemats, prepping for dinnertime I guess, nice touch. It was very organized and clean, which I appreciate. BUT one thing that was a total turnoff: windexing the tables while we were eating. The smell and hoping it doesn’t contaminate my food is not how I want to have a meal… They should leave the serious cleaning for after hours. Moving onto the food, it wasn’t anything amazing, but I believe they certainly pay attention to taste and presentation. Ingredients were good quality and flavors were on point. Nothing worse than restaurants using msg and sauce to cover up poor quality ingredients. We ordered from the set lunch menu and were happy with our choices. What really stood out to me were the sauces, garlic aioli for the calamari and lemon tartar sauce for the fish cutlets, pretty good. I’d love to come back and try their desserts!

It’s a weird place to have a restaurant and therefore parking is pretty scarce, but the food is great. I love the idea of Western-style Chinese food since it’s kind of like having the best of both worlds. They have delicious things like Creamy Chicken & Potato Stew on top of spaghetti, which really hit the spot. It was super creamy and had a hint of sweetness from the bell peppers. They also have delicious soups — some of them even come with a puff pastry! My favorite part of dinner was definitely the soufflé. They say on the menu that it needs to be ordered a day in advance, but we were able to order when we sat down and it came when we finished our meal. It’s a tiny, personal-sized soufflé so it’s perfect for dessert. They do it the right way too! I’ve seen some other Western-style Chinese restaurants serve up soufflés that look more like a round cake than a soufflé.

I came here last night for Mother’s Day with my mom and brother. I made a reservation for 6pm and reserved the baked alaska($ 9) and soufflé($ 7) ahead of time as well as the lobster bisque($ 9). Those items mentioned have to be reserved and ordered before your arrival since it takes time to make. The place was pretty empty when we showed up a little late around 6:15pm. There was one large party and a couple of other tables taken but the rest of empty. We sat down right away. My brother and I both ordered the rack of lamb which came with steamed mixed veggies and mashed potatoe and mint jelly sauce on the side. My mom ordered the surf and turf of half lobster with some shrimps on top and a hanger steak with peppercorn sauce. Our first course was the lobster bisque. That soup, although pricey at $ 9 each was worth every cent. It came out with an ample puff pastry on top and large chunks of lobster in the soup. My mom was raving about the soup as did the rest of us. Next was the salad. Fresh greens, not much to say there. Then we had the main course. The lambchops were moist and tender and cooked the way we asked… medium. We then tried my mom’s steak and WOW! I could not believe that was hanger steak. It was so tender and tasty… even more tender than some filet mignons that I’ve had elsewhere. After the delicious main course, the dessert finally arrive. I’ve seen photos of the impressive basked alaska on Unilocal and could not wait to try it out. The waiter came by with the basked alaska which was big enough to share with the whole take and a separate container of brandy sauce and lit that sh*t on fire! Of course we had to take a gazillion photos before we let him put our baked alaska on fire. We finally let him pour the brandy sauce on the dessert and the whole thing lit up causing major excitement and oohs and ahhs by us and others in the place. My mom couldnt even wait until the fire died out before digging in. She loved it! And she had every right to. The dessert was amazing. I’ve had baked alaska before and the raw eggwhites usually bothered me as I am sensitive to its smell. But since it was lit on fire with brandy, there was no weird raw eggwhite smells and all I tasted was dessert perfection. The final bill came out to about $ 140(before tips) for 3 very full and very satisfied people. I cannot wait to go back and try out the rest of their menu! TIP for PATRONS: CASHONLY.
