Komnata Quest Greenpoint

We waited over an hour for our game to start — so needless to say, it wasn’t a great first impression. Initially, we thought the staff was just running a little behind, but it turned out the group before us went to the wrong location and were insanely late. The staff though should’ve let us know when we got there that there was going to be a significant delay. I would’ve just asked to do one of the other available games or rescheduled.
It was annoying because Komnata sends email confirmations stating that your booking gets cancelled if you’re more than 10 minutes late «in order to be fair to all customers». And you’re supposed to get there 15 minutes early to sign a waiver. I was just a crap situation because we did everything right yet we watched another party get briefed on their game, win their game and take victory photos before we even entered our room.
The silver-​lining was the game (our first escape game ever!) was fun for the most part — except when they gave us the combination to a lock; they were probably trying to be nice since we were close to finishing, but we wanted to figure it out on our own. The staff was really apologetic, but I think even they knew what happened was over-​the-​top horrible and there wasn’t anything they could say to make things better. Because it was a birthday gift, I didn’t want to complain right then and there so I emailed them afterwards to see if they would be willing to fix the situation (e.g. a partial refund or just some acknowledgment that our experience was epically bad and a fluke) but never heard back from anyone.
We wouldn’t come back. But if you do, I would definitely give them a call before your scheduled game (especially if you have a late night one) to make sure they’re not running unusually behind schedule. If you don’t have dinner plans afterwards and don’t mind waiting, it might be fine for you. (I did have a pretty hilarious wait laughing with and listening to the staff as they guided the different teams through their games.)

What an amazing escape the room (7 sinful pleasures)
It was filled with technology, mystery and great adult related themes which are meant to push your boundaries as they are meant to make you a bit uncomfortable (but in a great way). I recommend this to all my friends. Great just great. Good job guys.
They have many rooms and I plan on attended the rest of them.

Awesome experience! Team work is a MUST. Great attention to detail. Our group did the murder misery and without giving away any hints you will need to read your clues carefully but not to worry because even though we had to call in for a clue to find the place once locked in we escaped (0 clues) just in the nick of time!

I have done all the other escape quests in New York and Komnata is by far my favorite. First of all, they do an amazing job with the ambiance and the setup. Everything is meticulous and follows a specific theme. It’s not just being stuck in a room with some props — this is the real deal. I don’t want to spoil any (pleasant) surprises, but you just have to try it out. If you’re escaping from a prison — you will literally be in a prison, and so on.
Secondly, the clues. I find a lot of the challenges in other escape games to quickly become «try every combination of numbers that sort of makes sense together on every lock». It ends up being a challenge of time rather than brain. Komnata’s puzzles are always on point. Really enjoy this!

Best room escape ever! Challenging and fun. Amazing atmosphere, story and setup. Super creepy mwah ah ahhhh… almost didn’t make it out!

This was a first for me. I’m not much of a murder-​mystery fan, so I greeted the possibility of a team adventure game with a heavy dose of skepticism, which was completely unwarranted in retrospect. The first 10 minutes of this puzzle give you a false sense of complacency, as you’re placed in an innocuous-​if dimly lit-​setting, but as the game progresses you are exposed to a series of twists and turns that are positively nerve-​wracking.
In addition to the intellectual challenge, the emotional turmoil this experience provides is without parallel in terms of leisure activities. Not for the faint of heart, but definitely something the adventurous among you might want to check out.

Just finished the murder mystery game! So intense! Komnata is the absolute best in the escape room industry in NY. No one does it better than them! The game was super realistic. The large amount of space was also incredible. I highly recommend this game and will surely be back for their others!

Amazing experience! The games were so immersive and the staff was so nice and understanding. We felt a tad uncomfortable with the first game and they allowed us to switch with no charge. Really fun and I would definitely go again!

Haven’t been to any other escape rooms, but I am an avid Unilocaler and Komnata takes the cake based on the reviews… AND IN REAL LIFE! Did my second Komnata quest (The Great Murder Mystery, first was St. Angelo’s Castle) this past Thursday 1÷14÷16 and it was even better than the first one. Maybe it’s that my girlfriend and I already had a feel for it, but the puzzles, the rooms, the props and the music are all top notch. I don’t scare easy but at some points I felt like I was in a live version of Hostel. Komnata RULES! Can’t wait to try the Great Robbery and The 7 Deadly sins! Try it, you might just get hooked like me ;) !

Downstairs in the basement of a sketchy block in Greenpoint, you will find Komnata. Dimly lit, with axes and shears lying around like NBD.
Be prepared to part with your phones and watches.
This was by far craziest experience of my life. We ended up booking the Murder Mystery and were spooked beyond belief. We still can’t stop talking about it.
If you’re into cracking codes but also into being scared beyond anything you’ve ever experienced, go to Komnata & try out the Murder Mystery Room. I like watching horror movies, but this was on some next level.
We managed to escape in 45 minutes (felt like 3 hours) due to my group of friends who were amazing at cracking the mystery.
The girl working there gave us a walkie talkie, and that made us feel like we had a connection with the outside world. Overall, a very unique experience. Try it if you dare.

Just a completely unique and fun way to spend part of the night. I laughed my head off and had so so much fun. I was so excited that it was harder than I thought and extremely clever. Man that was awesome. Highly highly highly recommended, 100% will be back to check out the other rooms.

Me and my friends had an awesome experience at Komnata! They have a lot of different games over here so you can choose one you’d love! All of them are completely different but my favorite one is ‘Impossible murder mystery’. The puzzles are amazing! I’m going to come back for more escapes they’re working on right now!

Never had any experiences like this. That’s really great place to bring a few of your friends to have fun and work out your brain.
To be honest we didn’t find the exit, we were trying to be too smart lol! So I’d like to go to this room again!

The Rubbery That Changed The World is the most entertaining quest I tried so far! I highly recommend it for people who like active games! I loved it!!! Thanks

This was a lot of fun! We split into 2 groups and solved different rooms. The puzzles were smart, interactive and some even hilarious. I’m coming back to try to solve a different room soon.

We went there 5 of us and played the scary game. It was a lot of fun. The Quest is full of secrets. Very interesting!

Whoa! I figured it would be fun, but it was really impressive. It’s smart but not impossible. I’ll try another room sometime as well. Good for groups or coworkers.
