This is my favorite place to take liver phobes. Because the Pan-Fried Cubes of Calf’s Liver served with Sumac-Coated Thinly Sliced Raw Onion and Lemon Wedges will convert anyone. Even kids. Yeah, that’s right. The Fried Feta-Filled Phyllo Cigars are another must. And yet another standout is the Iskendar Kebab. If you’re imagining cubes of meat, instead think tomato sauce-topped gyro slices served over yogurt mixed with toasted bits of bread. Trust me. And really, anything with lamb is a winner. Honestly, I have never had a bad dish and I have been eating here off and on for 15 years. One of the most consistently good restaurants in all of NYC, if you ask me. On any given Saturday night, the place is filled with boisterous diners, some of them egged on by their own generous pours of BYO-vodka. For us, over the years, the restaurant has evolved into our go-to for meeting up with other families to share a bunch of dishes, and BYO-wine(no corkage fee!). Family friendly Taci does large parties right, with efficient service and the option to make reservations(which I strongly suggest on the weekend). Hipster Schmipster. It is spots like this that make me truly proud to be a Brooklyn girl.

One of the best Turkish places in Brooklyn! Friendly staff. Reasonable prices! Delicious food! This place is BYOB(no cork fee), so make sure to bring your own booze of course if u want some! For cold appetizers u should try lebni and smoked eggplant! Cigar rolls will be really good choice for hot appetizers. For entrée Adana kebab is really good choice(grounded lamb or chicken for your choice) served on pita bread with grilled tomato, pepper and french fries on the side. And dont forget about dessert: Baklava or rice pudding with turkish tea

This is a great Turkish restaurant. If I name any specific food it would be injustice to the other items in the menu. Still few items deserves special mention: Cold Appetizer: Eggplant with spicy tomato sauce Entrée: Mixed Grill containing different variation of Lamb Kebabs, Chicken kebab and Chicken adana kebab Desserts: Kunafee, Halwa(which is not in there menu)

Turkish delight in Midwood! This spot is a local favorite. You know the food is good when It’s always busy. The food is delicious! The Shepard salad with feta cheese is a must. Get the hummus and jajik to dip their Turkish bread in. Their spicy ezme salad is very spicy so beware. I love it but your taste buds might burn off hahahaha. For mains get the salmon shish and the Bronzino. I recommend getting the filet instead of the whole fish because you will be picking out bones for days. if you’re in the mood for good Turkish food look no further.

My family and I come here for dinner once in awhile and we love it. Firstly; this is a nice sit down restaurant that lets you BYOB. Second; their food is great, comes out fast, is well prepared and delicious. Some recommendations include the mixed grill entrée, the Doner kebab with yogurt, the Ezme and shepherd’s salad, the hummus with pastrami, the fried calamari, and of course the bread is delicious. The desserts are great too– the kazandibi is delectable! I can taste their meat on my tongue right now, it’s so good. We come here time and time again for authentic Turkish cuisine.

Great food, I’ve been there 4 times already. Wonderful service, the waiters/waitresses are helpful and nice. I highly would recommend the chicken kabob which was very juicy and tasteful. Probably the best chicken breast I ever had. The stuffed eggplant is wonderful land the hummus is a must have. I would recommend to place a reservation if you’re going on a weekend night. It does get packed. Also, it’s a byob.

I have nothing bad to say about this place. Ordered the shepherd salad for an appetizer and it was amazing! For the main entrée I got half lamb half gyro meat with pita and rice. They give you a generous amount of meat and it’s very good. Also, great service they’re all on top of everything. Highly recommend this restaurant.

I have lived in Sheepshead Bay for 30+ years and I finally visited Taci’s Beyti for a meal and it DIDNOT disappoint! Where do I even start with this restaurant full of Turkish cuisine awesomeness?! I’m one to never say this is the BEST of anything, anywhere mainly because I haven’t been to every single restaurant that serves this type of cuisine, but I’m pretty confident this is considered and IS the BEST Turkish restaurant in NYC from all of the excellent reviews on Unilocal,Zagat, other public domains, my Turkish friends and, most importantly, from my own personal experience here that very evening! We came here for dinner on a Saturday evening at about 6:30pm and there was a short wait of about 10 – 15 minutes for a table for 2, which wasn’t bad. As expected, the restaurant was already bustling when we arrived. After we were seated, the amount of people waiting began to build. The wait visibly got longer and longer for arrivals so get here a bit earlier than the usual during times of the day when people eat(i.e. 12pm, 6pm). After sifting thru some Unilocal photos and seeing just about every table order it, it was obvious to us that the Shepherd Salad was a must here so we ordered the small salad with pastrami & feta cheese on top. If you’re here with a party of 2 – 3, the small will do the trick as it was bigger than I had expected for an appetizer salad. Parties of 4+ should definitely go with the large. As for how the Shepherd Salad was? In one word, AMAZZZZZZING!!! It was one of the best salads I had ever had in my life! I’m not a huge salad fan, but I know an awesome one when I have it and this was one of them. The HUGE chunks of tomatoes, cucumber mixed with onions, green peppers, parsley, black olives, feta cheese and drizzling of olive oil, lemon juice was so freshing! We couldn’t get enough of it! It took us a good 10 minutes to finish the salad, but it was the perfect way to start our meal off. Just when we finished the salad, our entrees came out. My girlfriend ordered the Shish Kebab and I had the Beyti Kebab. Both entrees were GYnormous as expected! The Shish Kebab consisted of cubes of baby lamb marinated in chef’s special sauce with roasted peppers & tomatoes served over rice(rice is $ 1 extra). The cubes were big and tasty, but a bit on the dry side for my liking. The roasted peppers & tomatoes over rice were very good. Beware of the green peppers though as they will light your mouth on fire like it did to us! Those green peppers were no joke! As for the Beyti Kebab, that was perfect! There was chopped lamb flavored with garlic, hot pepper & parsley, grilled on skewers & served with roasted green peppers & tomatoes served over rice. I have to say I might be a bit biased as I love sliced lamb and there was plenty of it on the plate. The lamb was very juicy and extremely flavorful. I definitely favored the chopped lamb over the cubes. Before I end this review, I also want to state that the décor inside made it feel very cozy. The brick walls and atmosphere made us feel right in our neighborhood. It felt like what a neighborhood restaurant should be like. Also, the service was fast, fast, fast! Waiters were flying around since there was so much activity. We came, we ate, we conquered and we left stuffed! The meal was everything I thought it would be and I would definitely come back in a heartbeat!

Taci Betyi was not arbitrarily chosen as Zagats #1 Turkish restaurant. Deep in the heart of Brooklyn where more than a few excellent Turkish restaurants are found, Taci’s Beyti impressed four hardcore Turkish food lovers with a slight, but noticeable«je né sais quoi»(a quality that cannot be described). Everything was freshly made, fragment, well prepared and seasoned. A big local, ethnic crowd came pouring in shortly after we arrived, further validating our decision to eat here. It’s a big place, occupying two storefronts through an opened wall in the middle. It gets darker as you move away from the window. Fortunately we had the window table with good light and a parking spot in front so we could see our car.(Readers Note: Whenever New Yorkers can see their car from the restaurant, the food usually taste better as stress and anxiety wane allowing our taste buds and other senses to emerge! .) Great service and even better food which I’m not describing other than through my photos. Enjoy.

Best Turkish food you will ever find in the U.S. Zagat had it right. They have amazing appetizer, I usually get the hummus with Pastirma and the liver. The liver appetizer can’t be beat, most tender and fresh thing on the menu, melt in your mouth. The Doner(gyro) is probably the best meat they have on the menu but I always get the Mixed Grill since you get a little bit of everything, and it’s a fair price at $ 23. Parking is a pain since they don’t have their own lot so you’ll have to walk a bit, but that’s a good thing since you’ll end up ordering half the menu and will need that walk to digest the food.

Solid Turkish joint. Great kebabs, decent salads. The baby lamb chop was excellent. Service was a little slow, although it was a very crowded day.

I am a huge fan of delicious authentic Mediterranean food. Although I live in Sheepshead Bay, Taci is my go to Turkish spot before any of the other 12 Turkish spots that stand between us in South Brooklyn. The number of times I’ve eaten here with friends, family, on dates, on dates where I pretended not to realize were actual dates, and just casual lunch meetings to the amount of dishes that I have tried — is beyond me at this point. I can confidently vouch that the service and the food is of the utmost quality. They serve wine, but you can also BYOB, just cross the street and pick up a bottle from the huge liquor store. The hummus is amazing here. The shepherd salad is huge, even the size small. Shrimp, scallops, chicken kebabs, fish, you can’t and will NOT go wrong. DO it.

With many, many, many restaurants in the area serving similar cuisine, I’m curious to know why this place is so hyped up. Came here for the first time last week and was simply not impressed by the food, service or Zagat putting their label on this place. Was the food or service terrible? No. However, it was comparable if not identical to many of the places in the area that have an identical ambiance and cuisine. If you’re already sitting down or on your way there, order the mixed grill and spinach pie.

I was off from work to take care of some business with my sister and being an avid fan of Turkish food, I made the slight detour to try out one of NYC’s higher rated Turkish restaurants in Taci’s Beyti. Set in the busy Sheepshead Bay section of Brooklyn, the first thing to note is that local parking can be difficult, so plan ahead or take the subway. Entering the really nicely decorated restaurant we were promptly seated. I scanned the menu and was quickly familiar with all the standard Turkish fare. My default dish is always the decadent classic Iskender Kebab so that’s what I ordered. My sister ordered the Chicken Adana dish. To start off we ordered the grape leaf appetizer. The grape leaves were delicious with a pleasant texture from the fresh pine nuts and also some nice punch in fresh herbs like dill and parsley which were really pronounced. My Iskender Kebab was awesome and possibly the best variant of this dish I’ve had the pleasure of eating. The Gyro meat was so flavorful as it had a nice fat/meat ratio that imparted deliciously rich flavors. The gyro meat slices had a slight crisp charred edge which also enhanced the flavor. Prodigious chunks of buttery toasted pide bread were nestled under the generous portions of Gyro meat and a layer of richly smooth yogurt sauce. The tomato sauce had a pleasant tanginess which was paired nicely with the richer elements of the dish. Sister’s Chicken Adana dish was good as well, but had an issue which I’ll mention further in this review. The Chicken was amazingly moist, almost to the point of not tasting like chicken, but was nicely seasoned. This leads me to say that the Adana could have used some more time of the grill. Now to my main issue which I referenced to above. When typing this review and reviewing the photo I took of my sister’s Chicken Adana, I noticed that the Chicken Adana dish she was served was on a bed of pickled white onions. Reviewing Taci’s menu it mentions the Chicken Adana as being served with rice. Instead she was given a piece of Pita bread(just look at the picture). Not really realizing this when we ate, in hindsight, what happened? So while the food was excellent, I would say this rice malfunction was quite odd, and drops Taci’s down a bit on my ratings.

Not sure how anyone can have a sub-par meal here – not I! Or my brother and nephews, who have also been coming here for years, BEFORE Taci’s got a write-up in Zagat’s and everyone came charging in from other boroughs to see what all the fuss was about(OK fine, I probably came after Zagat’s, too). This area is a competitive landscape for Turkish restaurants. After all, Sahara, the«original» Coney Island Avenue Turkish emporium, is just a few avenues over. So to stand out here, in one of the major Turkish-American enclaves in Brooklyn, is really something. It’s all about the food here, and if it’s your first visit, you must get the kebabs: probably the Beyti Kebab, which is similar to Adana but has its own spice formula. Any other lamb or chicken kebab will also knock your socks off, and it’s worth getting regular old lamb kebab, where Taci’s displays its skill with skewered meat. On my latest visit, I tried the«oven menu.» The lahmacun(aka«Turkish pizza») is a great entry point into Turkish baked pides. I gave the most decadent-sounding option a try, Karisik Pide – it was a monster-size flatbread folded at the edges – essentially a split open calzone stuffed with mozzarella, turkey sausage, ground lamb, and pastrami. This is their version of a meat lover’s pizza – food coma territory unless you play it safe and share, or save some for the next day… or three. All the standard appetizers are outstanding as well: from the dips to sigari boregi. Soups are good too, and our bread was fresh and definitely hot(not sure if that’s always the case based on other reviews). The servers are friendly and, despite a few minor hiccups, did a really nice jobs. Décor is fine, but again, you come here for the food. Taci’s is always full of Russians and Turks, two peoples who appreciate skewered meat, and it’s about as impressive a kebab place as it gets in New York.

Ordered: Shepherd salad, Sigara boregi, and Mixed grill Pros – The bread basket was very fresh and soft. The salad had a nice acidity to it. I liked the cigars. They had a nice flavoring with the feta cheese inside. I dipped them in tzatziki sauce which made them taste even better. Cons – When we walked in it took awhile to get a hold of a hostess, as there was no hostess stand by the door. The main entrée also took a long time to come out. I wasn’t a huge fan of the spices on the meat. I felt like they took away from the true meat flavor.
