Dr. Fontana and Dr. Kubicki are the best! I have dry eyes and could not wear contact lenses until they fit me with schleral lenses. I now can wear contacts! I LOVE THESE GUYS!

Dr. Kubicki is great! Very friendly and professional and gives lots of freebies for contact lenses wearers. Great service and kind receptionists!

I’ve been going to Excel Eyecare Professionals for a few years and think Dr. Kubicki and his team are the best vision professionals in Lake County!
I appreciate the fact that I’ve never had to wait more than a few minutes going from the waiting room to the examining room. And I like that Dr. Kubicki spends time talking to his patients to explain everything. I always come out of there learning something and knowing more than when I walked in.
The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and the office itself is beautiful. It’s conveniently located in Spoerlein Farms shopping center in Buffalo Grove.
Dr. Kubicki has invested in high technology to test the health of your eyes, and I recommend you opt in for this kind of testing because it provides a baseline to compare against every year. It’s surprisingly inexpensive, too!
Their newest technology does High Definition OCT (optical coherence tomography) that allows you to look inside the retina at every layer to see what’s going on. This allows for early detection of glaucoma, diabetes, macular degeneration and a number of other things that could become much bigger problems if left undetected.
They also have a machine that does retinal photography which takes pictures of the back of the eye which also helps detect problems early on.
Get the tests and Dr. Kubicki will sit with you to go over the results, show you images of unhealthy eyes to compare yours to, and print out the scan for you to take if you’d like.
I believe they’re the best practice around, not only because everyone in the practice seems to be on top of all that they do, and Dr. Kubicki spends quality time with each of his patients, but because the health of our eyes is so important, and often overlooked. We think in terms of latest technology in doing diagnostic tests for other parts of our bodies — and for our cars — why not for our eyes???

Dr. Fontana is one of the best optometrists out there! He was trained by his father who was also incredible. This doc is masterful when it comes to contract lenses.

Summary of what happened to me: I purchased glasses that took 1 – 2 weeks to process (aka takes forever), and then waited an additional week for them to be shipped to me (I’m from out of town). I try them on and lo and behold, I can’t see in them-​they were like looking into two fishbowls! I went in for an appointment and the doctor told me (in his most sugar coated manner), that they overlooked to size the glasses to my face and to see where the lenses would rest with my eyes. I am now in the process of waiting (yet again) for 3 weeks for these new glasses to come in. Here are my issues with my situation:
— If they were experts, they should know to size my face to my glasses and to make sure I can see through them. Logical, no?
— The doctor told me he would call me as soon as he found out if they could fix my lenses. Did he call? NOPE. I had to call him. If you made the mistake, you should take it upon yourself to reach out to the customer.
— I understand that some places need to send out their glasses to the lab but honestly– 1 to 2 weeks?
— Selection: There glasses selection are very minimal and many of them are expensive. (I paid $ 400 for JUST the lenses alone).
This place gets 2 stars because their redeeming factor are the kind receptionists and that their place is clean. That is all.

Dr. Kubicki is great. Very personable, extremely knowledgeable. He does my whole families eyes. Highly recommended.
