Frequent business traveler who makes his way out to Buffalo on a fairly regular basis. This is my first time eating at the Seabar, and I have to say that I was very happy with the meal and plan on making this spot one of my regular spots. The restaurant was crowded on the Tuesday night I showed up, so I was sat at the bar. This was fine, the bar staff was attentive and friendly. Sitting at the bar, I started off w/one of their specialty cocktails, the«Beatnik». This is a bourbon drink with ruby port and a bitter. It was great. Well made, well balanced, perhaps a little sweet for my taste, but the bourbon and the port worked well together. Started off w/a simple Miso soup. No surprises here; but the Miso soup was better than most I’ve had. It had a generous amount of seaweed in it and a good flavor that reached out beyond the Miso. I moved on to the appetizer of pork and shrimp Shiu Mai. The dumplings were fat and juicy, and the dipping sauce was rich and thick; in short, and excellent plate. For my main, I ordered the Spicy Tuna Roll. This was very good, but far from the best spicy tuna roll I’ve had; and the short-coming here keeps this review to four stars instead of five. The roll could have been a bit more imaginative; and a bit more generously portioned with tuna. They were also fairly bland for a «spicy» roll. As I said, a competent effort, but hardly remarkable. On the whole, this restaurant is a solid 4 stars. The décor is pleasant, the staff friendly, and the food very good. Try it if you’re in town.

Great sushi! With a twist… Mike A adds his own flair to how he prepares his dishes. For lunch, get combo 3.

Never have been inside this place, but Jason has brought home Sea Bar for dinner when I have worked late. The only things I have ever gotten from here is the Beef of Weck Sushi(TODIEFOR!!!) & the Coconut curry soup! I bet he actual restaurant is fab– but they also do a really nice job of packaging a to go order. Cannot wait to make my own selection and enjoy all that Sea Bar has to offer

Another one of my favorite restaurants in Buffalo! The owner/chef Mike goes to the airport to pick up fresh fish from Hawaii every week and boy you can tell the difference!!! FResh and delicious!!! The sushi is a favorite here, especially the crab and lobster rolls with mango and rice paper. It melts in your mouth! Also tried the coconut noodle soup and noodle salad with fresh tuna… both superb! Its fun to take large groups here! On my birthday they brought out complementary chocolate cake with fresh berries to share and jello sake shots for everyone… now thats pretty cool huh?! If you like a cool atmosphere with fresh seafood(do have tasty non seafood options), GREAT service and people… come to SEABAR! yumyumyummmmmmm

I came here on a Friday with my girlfriend and made reservations a few days in advance. I always find it easy to get to these Ellicott Street restaurants due to the fact that there is so many parking lots nearby and Seabar is no exception. We arrived right at our reservation time of 7pm and we were sat immediately. Our server took our drink order, brought over a bag of popcorn, and detailed the night’s specials. The first thing I noticed about this restaurant is that there’s a ton of space in between tables. Being a big a guy there is nothing I hate more than being butted up against a wall or being 6 inches from the table next to me. So I appreciated having lots of room to have a somewhat intimate dinner with my girlfriend. I ordered a beer(lots of options on tap) and my girlfriend ordered a wine, both of which were reasonably priced. Viewing the menu online before we came I had my eyes on one thing and one thing only; the steamed buns with pork belly. I am a huge huge fan of pork belly, and these steamed buns did not disappoint. The pork belly was perfectly cooked; not too crisp and not too raw and perfectly sauced. The kimchee, cucumbers, and herbs accompaniments were perfect and the plate was beautifully presented(I wish I snapped a picture!). We also ordered a special for the night; steamed pork dumplings. Normally I am not a huge fan of steamed dumplings as I feel like the meat is not cooked to an appropriate level, but these were cooked to perfection. The wrap was perfect cooked as well as the pork contained inside to a nice medium rare, very very good stuff. For our entrees we decided to split a couple rolls. I couldn’t come here and not order the notorious Beef on Weck roll, and it truly is as good as people say it is. The combination of the carpaccio, white rice, caraway, and kosher salt truly makes your mouth think you just took a big bite of a beef on weck sandwich. The horsey mayo that comes drizzled on top is genius in my opinion. Why wouldn’t horseradish work when wasabi is always included with sushi? Duh, why didn’t I think of that? I dream of this roll in my sleep, and I can not wait to get back here to order 5 of these to my face(no sharing allowed). We also ordered the spicy tuna roll which was very fresh tasting, and was sprinkled with what I was told by the server was tiny bits of tempura. Very unique, quite tasty, and added an extra crunch to the roll. Overall I could not find a reason not to give this place 5 stars. From the service, to the all-important food, and to the bill at the end EVERYTHING was exceptional. This is by far my favorite of all of Chef Mike A’s Buffalo establishments. I will be back again and again until they tell me I’m no longer welcome because I do not see this place getting closed any time soon! KEEPUPTHEGREATWORK!

Eating at Seabar this weekend made me sad… Doing the math in my head and figuring I’d be lucky to have 50 more years of life in me, and since I eat three meals a day, then(50 years x 365 days = 18,250 days, + .25×50(leap years) = 18,262.5 days, x 3(meals a day) = 54,787.5, round up to 54,788) I can only hope to be able to eat at Seabar 54,788 more times… I better get to it! The seaweed salad — which is my favorite salad these days — is absolutely tremendous. It’s pricey($ 4), but it seems listed for about the going rate. The sesame noodles are fine as well. I’ve had better, but I’ve had worse. Then comes the cream of the crop: the Beef On Weck Roll($ 12). It’s better than it even sounds. The dish has raw beef slices circling sushi rice with a beef tenderloin center, sprinkled with caraway seeds on top and planted on a plate garnished with a creamy horseradish sauce. Just brilliant. I feel all it’s lacking is for the chefs at Seabar to go back into their mad scientist laboratory and create a soy sauce aus jus for dipping. Man, all this Unilocaljng about Seabar has both made me hungry and distraught, knowing that I’m wasting time because I could’ve been eating at Seabar instead.

Seabar has always been a favorite of mine. I don’t go as often as I would like, but when I do, I am never disappointed. We always start with the famous beef on weck roll. It’s to die for! Really– it is! We have tried just about everything on the menu, from oysters, sushi roll, entrees and apps. Everything has been super amazing. Fresh ingredients with great flavor. Service too has also been good. This past time when we went we sat at the bar. The bartender was very friendly and also gave some good suggestions. Oh, I can’t forget about my favorite dessert, the coconut rice pudding, served warm. So good! Just another example that Mike A does it right and hits every nail on the head.

Buffalo is loaded with good restaurants, but Seabar is a standout. It’s not too big, but the place is nice, especially the bar. A reservation might be necessary, but the bar is a solid consolation prize. When we sat down they took out drink orders and gave us some curry popcorn, which is insanely good. I could probably just eat the popcorn and order drinks(highly recommend the Bee’s Knees). Somehow that may not be the smartest move, though, because Seabar has something called a Weck Roll. Holy Sh*t…this is the best roll I have ever had. Just order it and don’t ask questions. But wait, there’s more… the Thai coconut curry soup is legit. It doesn’t have much shrimp in it, but the broth is why you order it. In a city known for bar food and wings, Seabar has some exceptional Japanese-like food and drink.

First of all… Make a Reservation!!! Don’t be like me and walk in having to sit at the bar… which wasn’t all that bad anyways. But the food! We ordered the fish tacos for a starter and they were amazing! Never had fish tacos in my life before and was abrasive to trying them due to not being a huge fish fan but I’m telling you they were insane good! For entrees we ordered the famous beef on wick roll and the bbq salmon roll. Holly crap! Best sushi we have ever had in our lives and I have eaten lots of sushi all over Asia on my 2 six month deployments in the Navy and my girlfriend had fresh sushi made right in front of her in Costa Rica, we both were so amazed by the taste. Finally we finished with the Seabar Sundae. As if it couldn’t get any better… it did. This sundae is to die for! If your looking to have an orgasm while eating, this place will surely get your food gasms going!

Seabar has been our favorite restaurant for about five years running. Date nights, girls nights, celebrations… seabar is the place to go for delicious food and an amazing atmosphere. I would advise making a reservation especially during peak times, however if you’re last minute we’ve came late(after 830) and sat at the bar and they always seem to accommodate us. On to the food. Everything is good. Everything. But I’ll just touch on our favorites: The fish tacos are like no other. Prepared with sushi grade ahi tuna, white rice, guacamole… so fresh and such a unique flavor, you should not miss out on these. I refuse to share when I order them. The chicken and waffles make it hard to give any other chicken and waffles a chance. We have been to places famous for this dish in the south and always end up disappointed in comparison to seabar’s. Served with a perfect ratio of chicken to waffle, delicious seasonings and a generous portion of buttery syrup my mouth is watering just writing about it! And I can’t write a review about seabar and not mention the beef on weck roll… Unique hometown spin on sushi that is a real home run. Even on date night we have to order 2 trays because they’re truly THAT good. We bring people to seabar all the time and have yet to meet someone who wasn’t blown away by these magical creations. All in all if you’re looking for a place that takes classic dishes you know and love and serves them to you in a way that you’ve never had before… and are somehow better? Get off Unilocal and get to seabar!

The sashimi is tiny. It’s like one piece cut up into four little pieces for the price of six pieces. It’s unfortunate that the sashimi is so tiny. The rolls are creative with an American twist which takes away from the raw fish goodness of traditional sushi but is good for those that don’t like raw fish(although it seems to defeat the purpose of sushi).

I came here back when it first opened. I liked how exclusive it was and relatively close to my house. At that time the menu was just sushi options with a few other Asian dishes. Since then the menu has expanded to include other types of American foods. I was a bit confused at first due to the sudden change, but I feel like it fits them well. I like that the sushi is prepared right in front of you. I also like the fresh options and authentic taste. It’s definitely worth a try if you’re in the neighborhood

This review is for the Cheeseburger alone. Just kidding, but it is really good. Before my sushi-eating days, I worked on the same block as Seabar and would occasionally pop in for a burger for lunch. It’s big, juicy, flavorful, and served with a heaping portion of fries, ketchup and mayo. But the kicker is the Velveeta cheese they use on top of it: it has completely changed my life. Velveeta is a fairly sketchy product and could very well be taking years off of my life, but since trying the Seabar burger, I always cook with it. It just works for me. For years, nobody listened to me about the burger. «How can you go to Seabar and eat a burger?» my girlfriend would ask, and I’d just shrug, worrying she’d never understand. Imagine being the person who discovered the Grand Canyon and having nobody believe you. That’s what this was like, only worse. However, I finally got the validation I’d been seeking this past Friday when my girlfriend finally tried it and agreed that it was very good. I was kind of hoping she’d tell me it was the best thing she had ever tasted so in that respect she let me down, but she did admit it was delicious, so I will take it. I guess I will talk about the sushi now. In the past year or so I have really made an effort to eat more sushi, and Seabar has been a big part of that. I’ve probably had about half of their rolls, and they are all amazing. I like how you can sit at the sushi bar and watch the chefs prepare the rolls; they are absolutely locked in on those things. There’s some real focus going on there. The miso soup is solid and the sesame noodles are spectacular. The service has always been good, and the prices are fair. I’m a customer for life.

Sea Bar is a great for date night! My boyfriend and I went on a Wednesday night so it wasn’t very busy. Service was amazing Mike was very attentive and personable. He also had great recommendations. Best Pork Enchiladas appetizer ever! Surprising considering we were at a Sushi Restaurant. It was a large appetizer that came with 3 enchiladas in a delicious mole sauce with fresh quacamole pilled high! We couldn’t stop eating it. Top 3 Favorite rolls The Beef on Weck Roll The Miso Carmel Crab Roll(served warm) The Lobster Roll SEA Bar has very unique sushi rolls, yes they are a little Americanized but it’s what makes them different than so many other sushi places. They have fresh fish that you can create your own sashimi with if you feeling like going authentic. It’s great for sushi virgins. Next time I will try an entrée, they looked really good. A table next to us got chicken and waffles!

Seabar is my favorite place to come for sushi. Everything is fresh and delicious and if you’ve never been here… do yourself a favor and come. The lighting inside is very classy and modern and it’s beautifully decorated. All of the food is so different, but all so delicious. If you don’t like sushi or seafood, I still recommend coming because they have entrees on the menu that cater to all tastes. My favorite appetizers here are the seafood tacos(all raw seafood so be aware of that), the thai curry coconut soup(my absolute favorite), and surprisingly the meatballs here are delicious as well. My favorite sushi rolls are the beef on weck in horseradish cream sauce(this is a must get if you come here), spicy tuna, miso caramel crab roll, and BBQ smoked salmon roll. I’ve also tried one of their scallop dishes that was on special the one night I came in. It was absolutely amazing, a little pricey for the dish, but still amazing. I’ve never had dessert here but I’ve heard nothing but great things about the raspberry sorbet so i’ll have to get that when i’m in next. They also have delicious sake jello shots if you’re celebrating a birthday or just because! I would recommend making a reservation for dinner, especially if you’re coming in on the weekend. However, you cant go wrong either just sitting at the bar!

Seabar is my favorite restaurant in Buffalo. It is most likely due to the fact that I’m a NY seafood snob ;) I love seafood, I mean absolutely love seafood. This is our usual meal: Seafood Taco’s, Japanese Salad, California Roll, Best Spicy Roll & Miso Caramel Crab Roll ** this roll is absolutely splendid & unexpected. The Thai Coconut Curry soup, Basil Citrus Crudo & any of the oysters are amaaaazing. My favorite of the daily oysters are: Beau Soleil, Malpeque, Wellfleet & Misty Point. They usually have at least one of those type. Go if you’ve never been. You don’t have to love seafood, as there is Chicken & Waffles, but please go at least once. Lastly, at least try one of the specials as they are amazing masterpieces. As well, the bar is rocking. Their special cocktails & selection are great. They do very well with groups too! The largest party we’ve had was for 14, and it worked out perfectly. We somehow always end up celebrating there :) because it’s the best! ;)

Seabar is one of the best restaurants in Buffalo. The meals are so unique and delicious! The chefs are very creative. There’s a large variety of dishes to choose from. Seabar has several different sushi rolls, appetizers and entrees. My favorite sushi rolls are the Caramel Crab, the Beef on Weck in a horseradish cream sauce, and the Eel Tempura roll. They also have a special entrée: the Hawaiian butterfish brushed with a Miso glaze, soaked in a Sake butter sauce. The atmosphere is lovely and the servers are very nice! I would recommend this restaurant to anybody who enjoys sushi and seafood. Even if you don’t like seafood, they have chicken, duck, and pork entrees.
