This review is specifically for Kelli — I found a groupon, and not too many reviews so came in unsure, but so glad I did! She was an amazing stylist and conversationist. I wasn’t really sure what style of cut I wanted, but she was extremely patient and helped guide me in the right direction. My hair took a little longer than anticipated and her next client had arrived, but she still took her time and made sure everything was cut evenly/​done correctly. Sincerely appreciate that, and love my shorter cut! Will definitely be coming back.

Penny Layne is excellent! She did full highlights, conditioning and cut which is the best I have had in a very long time. Penny is very nice and personable and I will definitely go back! I used the Groupon and am so happy I found this salon and stylist!

Gabby is the Goddess of color for anyone suffering from dye allergies. Her cuts are flattering and her presence is stunning. See Cathy for impeccable brows. Love this place.

The salon itself is great, but this ⁵⁄₅ (⁶⁄₅ if I could) review is specifically for Eunice– the best hairdresser in all the land!
Let’s start from the dawn of time… with my hair. From the ages of 12 – 20 it was a revolving door of dye from the blackest black to brightest white. It went from long and thick and straight to frizzy and wavy and falling apart.
For the next few years, I didn’t touch it. I barely trimmed it and swore off dye (albeit, after one last pink-​splattered hurrah!) and left it alone.
Then I found Eunice.
As a person, Eunice is like an old friend you can drink tea and gush about boys with. She’s so friendly and the first time she did my hair we hugged and had swapped makeup tips and stories about boys. She always remembers what’s going on in my life, my finace’s name, where I work, everything. She’s so sweet and always great to see and work with. Oh yeah, and she’s an amazing hairdresser.
Eunice took my floppy frizzy sad hair and trimmed it to where it could grow and get healthy. And I don’t just show up for the obligitory trims– she and I have been working on a full action plan to get my hair on track to where I want it to be. We do trims every 6 – 8 weeks and smoothing treatments every three months. The smoothing treatments we do last so long and every time I get one done (I’ve had three now) my hair is noticably smoother for longer– it’s a million times better than where it used to be. No more frizz halo!
The best part of seeing her is the natural blowouts she does. I’m not one for doing anything ultra-​sex kitten or glam for my hair, and she blows my hair out super quick and leaves it shiny and soft. I end up playing with it the entire day and next day because it always just looks so perfect and feels amazing. I’ve popped in with her for a blowout before a date and before getting a DMV photo– seriously it’s worth it!
I went in recently and was talking to her about a pop of color but not too crazy– holy toledo. She did two peek-​a-​boo bits on either side of my hair that work with my side part. Basically, I feel like Pocahontas in the most empowering way. She did this amazing purple/​turquoise blend that starts dark at the top and gets light. I’m actually a little bummed I didn’t do more chunks– I was scared of doing too much but I can’t get enough of it!
Eunice is fantastic and I could not recommend her enough. I’m obsessed with my hair now because I don’t hate it anymore. It’s amazing. She fixed it!

Technical stuff on the salon:
Parking– free parking on the street, 2 hours on Magnolia and the first half of the block around the corner. If you go to the end of the block, they don’t enforce the 2 hour limit (if you’re going in for a marathon session). Parking is never an issue
Pay– they accept credit cards (all) and don’t charge a fee for it (!!!)
Bathrooms are clean
Kid-​friendly, but mostly adult clientele

I got a reconstructive treatment and blow dry and hair cut done by Penney. She is amazing. I love how my hair looks. She gave me the groupon price without having to purchase the groupon.

Went here for the fist time. They did a good job on the color. I was very happy the way my highlight came out. However the ends of my hair ended up a bet damage so I decided to go in for a trim. Well long story short my hair was cut as if it was the persons first time cutting hair. I contacted the hairdressers and send her a picture of the disaster and she was apologetics and had me go in to fix it. She did somewhat fixed it but I ended up with way shorter hair than I wanted.

Penney Layne is fantastic! After seeing a Groupon for a cut, condition and highlights I checked her Unilocal reviews and only saw 2. I was a little hesitant but the price was right, so I figured. .What the hell!
I am soooo happy that I took the chance. Penney is a great stylist, colorist and conversationalist! I had base color, a cut, a deep conditioning treatment and partial highlights. The time flew by and I couldn’t be happier with the results!
The salon is cute, and had champagne and orange juice on ice for anyone wishing to make a mimosa, bagels and cream cheese, and several different cakes for snacking on while getting beautified.
Great stylist, Great salon, highly recommend!

5 stars for Penney Layne Pynkk at Joseph Lamar Salon! She gave me a great haircut and blow dry yesterday, and was very nice and pleasant to chat with. The salon is a lovely, comfortable environment with convenient street parking and a great location. I highly recommend getting a service from Penney Layne!

Victoria is an amazing hair dresser. I came in with fried ends and hadn’t had my hair cut in over 6 months. I was scared of losing too much length. Sure enough Victoria walked me through what she needed to do to make my hair healthy again and she delivered. My hair has been soft and full of life again. I would recommend her to everyone!

My hair looks amazing I’m sooo happy with the results! My new place for hair for sure. I went from black to 6 shades lighter just like I requested.

Anna is amazing for any type of waxing. She is fast, careful and very detailed. THE experience is as painless as it can get. I’ve been going to her for a little over 2 years now and I wouldn’t go anywhere else. I drive all the way from Santa Clarita just to
waxing from her.
Tamara is great too. Both are very friendly and know what they are doing. Appointments are always available and they work with your time and schedule.
The only thing I would love to see one day is the availability to pay with credit card with Anna instead of walking inside and through the salon to pay. Just a wish list.

Anna is great for all your waxing needs! She is very friendly and makes you feel very comfortable. I won’t go anywhere else for waxing!

I went to see Eboni after seeing these horrible unlicensed stylist at The Weave Scene. I was in really bad shape and she turned my hair around. I got a relaxer, braided and sew-​up in my no do. She taught me how to take care of my hair underneath the weave, how to care of the weave itself and told me step by step what she was doing in her process. Not to mention she’s sweet as pie! VERY TRUSTWORTHY.
She taught me how to grow my hair unlike other stylist.
I also bought my virgin hair extensions from her and she gave me a great price vs the ratty nasty mess I was referred to by other stylist. I feel like she’s honest and you’ll walk in looking like Macy Gray, but leave looking like Beyonce. YAS GURL!

I’m completely satisfied with my ombré!!! My hairstylist Laura did an AMAZING JOB!!! She reassured me that I was in the right hands and she was right!!! =D I’ve had my share in hair disasters and I completely lost hope. I was a little apprehensive at first, but she is now my go to hairstylist from now on! I’ve received so many compliments! Me and my hair thank you Laura;) See you next month!:)

Gladis is an exceptional stylist and really works with her clients to give them what they want. Whether you want to do a little maintenance or completely change your look, you can trust Gladis to make you really look your best. She is continuously up to date on all the latest coloring trends and cuts and really keeps it all fresh. She goes to different shows and you can tell she is serious about her craft.
I recently came to her and did a total transformation. I went from long hair to a very sexy bob. She corrected the dead weightless hair and gave me teeny tiny micro highlights that look amazing. I explained to her that I don’t have the kind of time to maintain a polished look because of my kid and she took that into consideration and styled me accordingly. Who puts that much thought into it?! Now I can come out of the shower and just go and my hair looks amazing. Gladis also gave me some quick styling tips if I want to change my look up for something a little different.
She also thinks about the future in the sense that she can gradually take you where you want to go. For example, I brought in one picture and she said that she wouldn’t recommend I go that route at that time. She explained that we could eventually go there but with the current condition of my hair it would not be wise and my hair would get further damaged. The reality is, is that she could have done what I asked (and made more money) but because she is a consummate professional she urged me to do what was in my best interest and for that reason she has a client for life. I will follow her wherever she goes.

I was desperately searching for a hairstylist in or near the Burbank area. I asked around to friends if they had a hairstylist they could recommend and no one seemed to know anyone. So, today I did something I never would have done before, I got online and googled for a hairstylist that specialized in African American hair-​weaves specifically. I started searching and surprisingly a stylist popped up named Eboni. I read her reviews and was immediately impressed with what her clients had to say about her. So, I decided I would give it a shot and call her. I left a message for Eboni with the receptionist because she was with a client and Eboni called me right back, which really impressed me.
Immediately I noticed how pleasant and friendly Eboni was over the phone. She answered all of my questions and made me feel at ease about the style of hair care she provided. I liked what I was hearing and told her I would like to get in for an appointment as soon as possible. I was so excited when she said she could see my daughter that same day! So, once my daughter got out of school today, I took her in to see Eboni.
Eboni greeted us with a huge smile when she approached us and made us feel very comfortable. The salon was extremely nice and professional. Eboni first consulted with my 16 year old daughter about the style she wanted and then began to work on her hair.
When I came back a couple hours later to pick my daughter up, I was blown away at how fabulous her hair looked! Eboni had transformed her into a little super model! She relaxed her hair, put four weave tracks in and styled her hair. The finish look was spectacular and I was just over-​the-​top excited about her work!
I am one of the pickiest people you’ll probably find, and I must say Eboni exceeded my expectations! She is super sweet and funny plus she will educate you on healthy hair care and how to maintain a beautiful lasting look! She is a gem and I’m thrilled we have found her, I can’t wait to tell all of my friends about her! We’re hooked and now lifetime clients of Eboni!

Jodi is consistently amazing. Ever since I dyed my hair the first time (when I was in high school) I have never gone to anyone else because why would I want to mess with perfection? She’s had me various shades of blonde, brunette, even bright red! We always have a blast during our appointments and I walk out feeling and looking like a million bucks! She can fix anyone else’s shoddy work (I’ve sent friends in after unhappy appointments with other people) and makes sure you’re completely happy before you walk out. I can’t say enough good things about Jodi. She even replicated a celebrity do for my senior prom back in the day!
I’ll follow her anywhere! 10 years loyal with many more to come.

This is a long overdue review.
She is the only person I trust with my hair color and was my go to when it came to up dos for proms back when I was in high school.
When I had a very specific idea of what I wanted for prom I brought in a picture of the up do that Jodi not only replicated, but improved upon.
When I made the mistake of using a «non permanent» dye from the supermarket to dye my hair purple, she salvaged it. Needless to say, it WAS permanent. When I tried to go blonde again after the purple disaster, my hair turned BRIGHT pink. Jodi was endlessly patient with my hair and managed to get it right back to where I wanted it in only a few hours, after I promised not to use one of those boxes of dye again.
She brought my color dreams to life when I wanted to go BRIGHT red with bangs and brought me right back to blonde when I was done with it. She has made blonde, brown and red work on me, all without damaging my hair (which is to my waist).
She has done not only my hair, but my mom and my sister’s as well. She even cut one of my best friend’s hair from long to an adorable short bob. She is the only person I recommend to my friends and occasional strangers that come up and ask me who does my hair.
She has the amazing talent to know EXACTLY what you mean when you tell her what you want, whether it be a color or that you want to «warm» up the color you already have.
Not only is Jodi a hair magician, she is a wonderful, personable, lovely woman and I feel absolutely blessed to have found her. She really, truly, cares about her clients. A visit with her is an absolute pleasure, I almost wish I needed my hair done more often!

This review is for Anna– the aesthetician!
Anna is amazing! I always go to her for any type of wax but I’ve gotten facials with her too, and on both counts she is amazing! She definitely knows how to treat any kind of skin-​be it waxing or facials! I love her! Been going to her for the last ten years and no matter what I will not go to anyone else! She has amazing customer service and will always make you laugh! Imagine getting waxed and laughing at the same time… ;). She is very knowledgable and is a dietician as well! She is amazing! If you need any skin needs… GO TO HER! And I forgot to mention that she does a very clean job and you don’t have any wax left on your body when you’re done if that’s the service you want…

I have been coming to Gladis at Joseph Lamar for years. Before I came to her I had bleach blonde hair that had been fried to its death, and now I have the healthiest, most full and golden hair.
Their are people who do hair, and their are people who are actual hairstylists. Gladis is definitely the best in the business, and I would never trust anyone else with my hair (I cant even stress that enough). She knows what I want, even when I don’t even know, and she knows what best suits my face shape and skin tone. I have referred many people to her, and there is an obvious reason why! She has done every type of cut, color and style for me and all I have to do is say what I want.
I can promise that if you go to Gladis, you will be getting non stop compliments, I don’t know what it is that she does but it will always be on point and what you wanted.
IF YOU HAVE DAMAGED HAIR. she is the one person you should be going to. And if you want healthy beautiful hair, that looks amazing all the time… you should definitely be going to her.
