My visit to this doctor was the most unprofessional doctor visit I’ve ever had. I’ve been going to see Dr. Kay for years but I will not be going back. I was told to get there 15 minutes early to be numbed. I was called in 15 minutes late and was never numbed. When I told Dr. Kay, he complained about his own front desk staff saying the error was on their part. He asked me to speak to their manager. I was very confused by the entire ordeal. He threatened not to do the procedure and then when he did, he did not clean the site or provide after care instructions. The visit was horrible. Read the bad reviews. They are all accurate. And for all this, I’ll have to pay him over $ 300.

This is a great location first of all right next to the freeway so it was a straight shot from my house and super easy to find big building with address numbers visible! Refreshing! … The office was beautiful and clean very professional and upscale feeling with a rear display of the products they offer (Lattisse). Creams and potions etc. My fist time patient forms were short and sweet much like the wait to see my dr who is if any indication of her work facially flawless!. After this angelic faced lady examined me and asked me a few questions and let me tell her my tale of trying everything under the sun for my ACNE which appeared after 25 suddenly. She confidently prescribed me some medication with a smile that to me said «your gonna be okay». I left feeling uplifted and hopeful which was owed thanks enough … So thank you again and be seeing u soon dr passalacqua !!

I want to make an update to tell you that Dr. Kay is STILL amazing! I went in again to have what I like to call «crop circles» checked out on my shoulder. He wasn’t quite sure what it was, though he had an idea. He went off for 10 mins to do some quick research. He wasn’t satisfied with what he found, and told me he would get back to me within a couple of days as he wanted to spend more time (his own personal time) researching. I thought «yeah, right» thinking I would be forgotten about. NOPE. He called me 2 days later, even emailed me what the disorder is and now we’re in the process of seeing if it’s caused by an autoimmune disorder. With so many doctors treating patients like cattle, I can’t express enough how grateful I am for a doc like Dr. Kay and the fact that he doesn’t have an ego. Instead of dismissing me because he didn’t know why my crop circles have appeared, he legitimately wanted to figure it out, which I think makes him a better doctor.

After reading the mixed reviews on Unilocal,I was hesitant. However, after my visit today, I could not be more pleased to recommend Dr. Andrea Passalacqua of Dr. Kay’s office. She was wonderful as was her nurse. The receptionist and staff were friendly and nice. I highly recommend this office. I do not usually take the time to write Unilocal reviews, but thought that this one deserved to be written due to the negative posts about the front office with which I disagree.

Terrible front office! They transfer to voice mail. Without trying to help.
Terrible nurses who never call back. She said call us if instance doesn’t cover. We go through another pharmacy. Three calls (messages) and a week later they called the pharmacy for the wrong medication. When called back the fourth time, the front desk is arguing about nurse being busy! Really? Do they think I will go back? NOT!!!

Very, very disappointed with today’s visit to the office. Worst customer service. Rude with the smile on the face. I was running a little late due to heavier than usual traffic. My appointment was at 3:45 and I called an office out of respect to let them know that I’m running 10 min late. Receptionist said: well it’s already 3:46! Then she checked with nurse and told me that they are not willing to wait 10 min and I have to reschedule. I said that I was coming anyways and they will need to assist me. I arrived about 3:58, signed I and sat in The lobby. There were a couple of patients that came after me and they were called in momentarily, but no one called my name. when around 4:10 I asked when I’m going to be seen, receptionist called nurse and they both announced that the doctor had left. I was told it was actually my fault that I didn’t get assisted because I should have been trying to get receptionists attention! (did I mention that she wasn’t even at the reception!) Like the signing sheet was nothing. I pointed out that everybody after me on the sign in sheet was already called but they kept ignoring me, As I mentioned in the beginning of this message the nurse called Anna was very rude with a smile in the face she would just insulting. She also stated that all doctors left home. And this is while patients that came after me were still inside!
I’m speechless!!!

This place has the worst customer service. The front desk workers are very rude and disrespectful. I was stuck in traffic due to a car accident that occurred on the freeway I was 10 min late which I had called and notified the of they did not accept me because I was 10 min late. Don’t go here they don’t understand the concept of patient satisfaction.

I went in for a consultation with the exceedingly professional Alia. I explained that I was seeking treatment to obliterate my acne scars. What a class act! I was so comfortable with her, she made me feel like I was having a discussion with a friend. I’ve been apprehensive about the procedure in the past, so I was glad she was so knowledgeable about every aspect pertaining to it. She really took her time to answer all my questions (I had quite a few) and addressed the many different approaches the clinic had to offer. I’ve been looking for a while and was getting discouraged, I’m so happy I found her!

They do amazing laser work, especially physician assistant/​laser technician Nancy Primo who is super skilled and knowledgeable. Dr. Kay is very caring and kind. He cares very much and it shows. I have had fabulous results with his Sclerotherapy procedure. He oversaw a treatment of Actinic Keratosis — held steadfast that it was not cancer to hold off biopsy, despite other doctors saying to cut. He takes great care on every visit. Not only is Dr. Kay an incredible doctor, he is so welcoming and warm and makes me feel so comfortable to be there. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a great dermatologist.

This is long overdue. And considering they have come through for me long ago, and for numerous other referrals I’d finally like to leave a simple review about Dr. Kay. A long time ago he said one thing that stuck with me… he said I’m not a genius. And, actually I disagree. I think the art and science of medicine is something that Dr. Kay perfectly exemplifies. He has hands down one of the most personable physicians I have met and had the pleasure of being treated. He is highly trained and highly knowledgeable, and is great at reassuring confidence. It is people such as Dr. Kay that really give Western Medicine a good name; he puts in the time and effort and actually empathizes with his patients and I am happy to say I would recommend hands down, and he will be my dermatologist for life. For the simplest blemish to any serious skin I or my family encounter. Thanks for your great service and expertise. You are very much appreciated.

Dr. Kay has literally saved my life and my skin! Prior to my visit with him, I met with more dermatologists than I can count on my fingers. Every time I came into his office, I had a pleasant experience and noticed his staff would try their best to accommodate my needs. One day I found out another doctor was going to see me because Dr. Kay was in surgery and I literally freaked out because I have put all my faith into him. Then a few moment later, Dr. Kay walks in with his scrubs! He has so much knowledge/​education and will answer any question you have! The office staff is friendly and I rarely have to wait. All the nurses are wonderful, especially Angela, but there is one nurse who does have an attitude problem. She is in her 40’s and is always so angry and bossy, but other than her, I have no complaints!

I have one of the worst most humiliating experiences I have ever had in Doctor Kay’s office. Dr. Kay gave me several dirty looks, then got angry and yelled at me during my consultation. He then stormed out the door. After that he began to yell at his staff for several minutes in the office.

My new insurance (Obamacare) did not allow me to see any of my previous doctors so I did some research online and found Dr. Kay. My appointment went pretty smooth. Filled out the new patient info and waited 15 minutes or so to see Dr. Kay. He sat down and explained my condition in full detail and answered all of my questions. Did not feel rushed at all and happy that I found him.

I have been going to Dr. Kay for a little over a year and he has helped tremendously with my skin. He encouraged me to go on accutane after I had tried everything else with previous doctors. I was extremely skeptical of this drug because of the rumors I had heard but he assured me that he wouldn’t have put his own children and himself on the drug if he didn’t believe in the results. My skin is still clear and it’s been a year since I finished taking it. I am so glad that I did it and I can’t thank him enough!
The only improvement I think that would help the office is the customer service from the other staff members. They are not always the friendliest. I would recommend Dr. Kay though :)

My general partitioner recommended Dr Martin Kay, so despite a few negative reviews, I made an appointment for my «Mohs» Surgery. (A procedure for skin cancers that have a tendency to have hidden tendrils. For more information, check out: ttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohs_surgery.)
1.) First off, all the staff members were sincerely sensitive and kind. I felt scared and all members of the office and nursing staff took me under their care. Thank you all!
2.) I am a cash client and Dr. Kay gave me the best price of all eight other Dr. s I spoke with from Burbank to Pasadena.
3.) Dr Kay was efficient and kind, listening and touching my arm to reassure me when I asked questions. After nearly two hours (procedure can take four hours) he reassured me the cancer cells were clear and proceeded to close my ear up, taking his time to make sure my ear would have as little scaring as possible. I am grateful and thankful for the care I received from Dr Kay and his staff.

Don’t visit Dr. Kay unless you have great insurance and hundreds of extra dollars laying around. I was referred to him by a friend about removing a small scar on my face. I went in for a consultation, talked to him for 2 minutes, paid my $ 35 co-​pay and STILL got a $ 150 bill in the mail. One month after that I got another $ 50 bill for a canceling an appointment I never made. Dr. Kay is a nice guy, but his office is run very poorly. I tried speaking to them about the outrageous bill and kept being referred to my insurance company – who in turn kept referring me back to Dr. Kay. Don’t go here unless you want to waste a bunch of money on a useless consultation.

Dr. Kay is the best derm doctor, and his face products are awesome and affordable.
