This is one of our favorite places and we love sitting out on the patio in the evenings. They own Stone Soup Café and Mojo’s too and the food is incredible. The tacos with various smoked meats are delicious and we especially enjoy the pulled pork taquitos, sliders, Texas cheese steak, and the pulled pork grilled mac & cheese.

This place is excellent. We ate there last Friday night and sat out on the patio. The food was fantastic, the waitstaff was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was fun. I had the Mac n cheese with pulled pork on a grilled cheese. It sounded a little odd, but it was amazing! My hubby had the Texican burger and loved it. Everything was so delicious. Will definitely make the trip from the mid-cities to eat here again!

The Texican Burger is to die for! That gets 7 stars :) The bartender is very good at her job including making guests feel welcome. The lower patio is so nice with comfy outdoor sofas. The dining patio is the reason I cannot give 5 stars… It’s leans downhill and so does your food! Please get that leveled!

We went for the first time during happy hour. The server quickly pointed out drink specials and was very attentive throughout the service, she did a outstanding job. The reason for my rating was the food. I had the Texas cheesesteak. Great concept! «Smoked Brisket on a roll cheese, jalapeño relish spuds great. The brisket was did not appear to have been smoked. It tasted life big box frozen beef that had been sauced. I was very disappointed. My wife had the chicken fajita taco. It was about average. The beer was cold and reasonable price during happy hour. They don’t have fries! I wanted to like the place and the menu sounds really good. I guess in Fort Worth, I expect to have smoke on the brisket, not sauce.

Hidden gem in Burleson! This place had the best happy hour. Half price drinks and appetizers. Their food was so unique! We had the texican burger and it was phenomenal!!!

Waitress was very on the ball. Had the brisket taco and pulled pork taco, both were outstanding. I loved the brisket taco best. The smokey flavor was right on the money. Atmosphere was good.

Second time there absolve it. Fish Tacos are wonderful(even tho a bit pricey). Very accommodating staff.

Interesting place… Had great potential but the food was just okay, the waitresses were pretty awkward and had to be reminded a few times about things we had asked for, and the table placements in the hallway that people walk through was weird. Kind of an odd vibe, maybe they will step their game up. if not, hopefully something else takes its place!

Awesome food! The Haystack salad with grilled chicken was incredible! Cheyenne at the bar poured my Revolver Blood and Honey just right! This place has great food and great service. I recommend any of the street style tacos as well! Old town Burleson never fails to impress me!

This place is great! It’s a simple, small town and friendly. The grilled cheese with pulled pork is out of this world! The Texican burger is pretty awesome. Tacos, nachos and everything else I’ve had there is good. I wasn’t that crazy about their version of a Philly cheesesteak though. Reading some of these reviews is comical! Oh the things people complain about… They just need to stay home and cook. Can’t be pleased. Every time I’ve been, no matter the time of day or day of the week, service was great, food was great and the manager checked on us EVERYTIME! Definitely try it out

Service was okay, not great. Food seemed to be all covered in cheese, which didn’t help that we had free chips and queso with a coupon we had. I had the hickory tree burger and it had good flavor but after I finished half I realized it was mostly cheese I was tasting. The tomato was diced which is not your typical style but still good. The mashed potatoes were decent. Also had the brisket taco, too cheesy and wouldn’t recommend. The blue ribbon chicken taco was decent in comparison. The del rio chicken was moist. Didn’t have it with the sauce on top but on the side. Found the sauce to be spicy but good. Again, the chicken was covered in cheese. Vegetables were green beans and carrots which were cooked well and very fresh. The corn was nothing special. Overall I’m not sure if I would return. The outdoor seating area looked nice. Inside initially walking in feels like you’ve gone in the back door and there isn’t much decoration in the first seating room. Talking with the hostess we were being pushed towards sitting at the bar for some reason but we asked for a table instead. Before we ordered we overheard someone being compensated for the taquitos not tasting right. You be the judge.

Impressed with the food. Tacos are delish… two are plenty to fill you up. Nachos ate awesome as well. I recommend the steak. The décor is pretty cool but you’re going for food and service and they both are better than average. If you’re looking for new place in Burleson definitely try out Hickory Tree. It needs the repeat service so it’ll stick around! Support your local business over chains!

Food — outstanding Service — outstanding Décor — needs much improvement. Maybe in time they can upgrade the interior. Only negative.

This is your basic, trendy/hipster place. The restaurant itself is nicely appointed, and the outdoor fireplace is fantastic! The food was decent, but for the meager portions they gave you, it was overpriced. The queso dip was absolutely delicious, and for that reason it was worth it. If you like trendy/hipster places, then this is the place for you. The wait-staff didn’t seem very knowledgeable about their menu items, as when I asked about them, our waitress had to go to the kitchen to ask. They were very friendly, and they were attentive. I just didn’t care for the food.

I have been twice since the opening and have 2 more dates on my calendar to go this week! Like sweet-ish martinis? Ask for the(not on the menu) «Undercurrent» it’s delish. My fav so far is the grilled cheese complete with pulled pork and Mac n cheese! The side of potato salad that comes with it was also very tasty. We also had their potato skins topped with the same melt-in-your-mouth pulled pork. This place is a great replacement for the not so great previous burger joint that used to be in the same location. The Hickory Tree is just what Old Town Burleson needed!

Hickory Tree Grill is a trendy looking new place that has recently opened in Old Town Burleson. The outside has a warm welcoming feel with stacked firewood and patio seating for those nights that you are looking for something to do outside. Caution: Hickory Tree Grill is not suited for large parties; it is an intimate dinning experience. A quick glance through the restaurant from where we were seated in the front room revealed mainly 2 and 4 person tables and some small 4 person booths. There was a large party(8 people) who were waiting when we arrived and had just been seated when we were paying out close to an hour later. Outside seating, from what I could see is also limited. I counted 7 outside tables, but each table(round — so you can’t pull them together) is small and would only accommodate 4 people comfortably. There is some couch/lounge seating outside if you were just having drinks and/or appetizers. The bar menu is decent; a good selection of all the major brands of draft beer with a few favorites from local breweries. The menu also had a selection of specialty drinks that seem to carry the theme of the restaurant. The food menu was large enough to accommodate someone with an appetite, but not overly complicated. The offerings included tacos, fajitas, quesadillas, burgers/sandwiches along with a few other samplings. We decided to start the meal off with Chips and Queso. We were pleasantly surprised when we got the Queso. It was a yellow cheese queso; thick with a good flavor, not just a cup of melted Velveeta. The chips were on par for what you’d find at any other restaurant in the area. Next we ordered dinner. She ordered the Chicken Fajitas, and splurged to get the bacon-wrapped shrimp on the side. I ordered the NY Strip steak. The fajitas came out on the standard fajita skillet, minus the sizzling and smoke. The chicken meat was nicely flavored but not what you would expect when ordering fajitas. The chicken had a sweet marinade flavor to it which almost made us think rotisserie chicken, but served on a bed of grilled onions and bell peppers. The plate came with the standard side of refried beans, rice and a roll of warm tortillas. Overall, the meat was nicely flavored and juicy but different from the standard chicken fajitas you’d find in other restaurants. My steak was served pre-sliced with a creamy peppercorn sauce over the top. In hindsight, I wish I would have 86-ed the sauce; while it was a great tasting sauce I lost all the taste of the meat that I was hoping to get. The steak however, was cooked perfectly with a hot pink center as would be expected when ordering a medium cooked steak. The sauce could have been a nice addition to the steak, but there was just too much. I think a drizzle of sauce, leaving me wanting more, would have been preferred over the ladle of sauce that I got on my plate. The steak was served with«crawfish boil mashed potatoes». Not being a big fan of anything crawfish I was hesitant but in the end they were pretty good mashed potatoes. I couldn’t really tell what made them«crawfish boil» over«loaded» mashed potatoes, but I can say that I did not detect anything remotely close to a fishy taste in them. The second side with my steak was some kind of squash — the waitress gave the name which I can’t say I was familiar with. The squash was diced and had been cooked on a grill with some light searing marks. The taste was good, but I felt it was undercooked since it was still firm and crunchy. There was an option of a house salad instead of the squash, but I was trying to live on the wild side and try something new. Lesson learned. Just a quick note on service — the waitress we had was very polite, checked on us frequently but was not a nuisance. The timing of service was perfect. A few sips into our drinks and the appetizer arrived; just as the appetizer was done dinner arrived. This is a new restaurant so I expect a few service errors like forgetting the steak knife with my steak or not being able to remember the vegetable of the day when asked. I think once the new wears off the wait staff will be top notch at the Hickory Tree. Overall, this was a good dinning experience for a place that has only been open a few days. The biggest obstacle for the Hickory Tree Grill is size and seating. I see this as being a major issue in the future. The food was different but all well prepared and quality. In another review of this same restaurant someone said the food wasn’t worth the money — while the price point was a little higher than«normal» for this area expect a little more taste and quality for your dollar than what you’d get anywhere else. I would gladly visit the Hickory Tree again, and look forward to trying some of their other options.

Everything was ok. The room we were sat in inside had two big windows, with no cover or tint. So with the room being dark. It got toasty. Then most of the food needed salt and pepper. The loaded potato skins needed a lot more cheese on them. The nachos also not an even level of toppings. The fish poboy, the bread wasn’t toasted. So it wasn’t crunchy. Also, again the toppings were not too even and salt and pepper was needed. We will go back to try it again in a month or so like we always do with new places. I hope everything is awesome second time around. The money we spent this time was not worth the food.
