If you know where you are on the spectrum of loving fashion, you can enter unafraid to any store and get attention just by approaching whichever one seems available. The sales people are discreet. I have been well paid and unpaid, but always welcome when I speak about the love I have for the fabrics and unusual construction of a piece. I also know they have a sweat shop free policy. I love the Grocery Store and Susan as well. I ask questions, I try things on. I’ve been buying and not buying for the past 20+ and I am always welcome to see anything in a display or try something on. I do try to make the sales, but when I am ready to buy a piece I do that. my wardrobe is not large, but all pieces well made and flattering.

Boo on you Susan’s! I don’t go out of my way to write negative reviews. I’m seldom repulsed enough to write one up. Wow! Talk about truly terrible service a la Julia Roberts in «Pretty Woman.» Sorry, I guess I forgot to come all decked out in my designer duds for a casual Sunday stroll on Burlingame Ave. Silly me! There is NO excuse to walk into an empty store and be ignored by three salespeople twirling their thumbs for ten minutes. NONE! And it was not the first time either. I’ve been ignored in this store many times. No problem, their loss. That’s all it takes, a simpe hello… You don t need to kiss ass, just say hello! I won’t buy anything there on principal now. And trust me, I could if I wanted to! Go to Neimans, Barneys, or Saks if you want designer duds and service with a smile. Better selection and prices, too! And trust me, i’m an elite :)

Like the other reviewers have said, the prices are not for the faint of heart. But if you want investment pieces and take advantage of their sales, it’s worth it. Really needed a dress in a hurry to wear to a wedding that weekend and could not stand setting foot in a department store where I would have to wade through the choices myself. Wandered in and met a salesperson named Anita, aka my fairy godmother, who quickly picked out a bunch of dresses that might fit my small frame. It’s hard for me to find dresses that fit, but I ended up finding a chic, simple silk Sophie Theallet in this amazing shade of blue. Anita took the extra time and effort to help me accessorize this dress, even helping me make a belt that I bought at another store work with the dress. She has great taste and is very approachable, unlike most salespeople at high end boutiques. The clothing and accessories here are beautiful, individualistic and very chic in a non-ostentatious way.

Okay I am updating my review. I phoned Susan’s back to inquire about another pair of shoes I saw in the store earlier this week. She asks«Is this Nicole?» Awwwwww my heart melts … Hee Hee. I’m that easy to please! :) “““““““““““““““““‘ This store is very unassuming … From the outside it looks like a store with tacky, cheap clothing. You know, one of those random stores with cotton onesies and shtuff … ;) Ummmm that’s *not* what awaits you inside! Welcome yourself to a world of Lanvin(I bought a stellar pair of patent platforms here), Marni, Balenciaga, etc. It’s a Burlingame Ave Haven for designer clothing, handbags and shoes! Be warned, the price tags are not for the faint of heart. The sales staff could learn a lesson in treating the customer like Goddesses. The designer duds are pretty fantastic. I know it’s a recession … but I have myself a problem! A shopping problem! ;)

Hilarious service. Susan will go into the local history books described as «it’s like the shop that didn’t want to help Julia Roberts spend her money…»

this is not a place for people with no money, just had to be real on that. I remember as a little girl my mom dragging me here once a week. The first time I saw couture up close and personal is here. I remember it like it was just yesterday seeing the word Moschino and asking my mom if that was the same people who made cherries(you know marachino… im a dork). This is where the Hillsborough women who have nothing to do but shop go, and they(the owners) know that and keep their clientele satisfied. all the big names are sold here, and this place is pretty major. I have looked at ads for major fashion houses in Vogue, and in the«where they are sold«section several times Ive seen SUSANOFBURLINGAME . frickin major

i am a poor student that probably can only afford one of Susan’s fantastic items every three paychecks!!! the stuff here is fantastic. balenciaga, lanvin, marni, so so so beautiful. can you believe they have lanvin & prada for half-off??? still pricey, but much more reasonable for my budget. i saw a beautiful patent red bag and started salivating. the service was helpful and sweet. you can tell the people working there were just in love with these products as i was!!! promise to come back and tell others.

This store’s personnel will help themselves to your money through their functionally non-existent return policy. So if you buy some of their very expensive stock, that money is gone once the credit card slip is signed. For example, if you decide to exchange items(s) you bought for other items(s) they don’t adjust the previous charge. They ADDTHEAMOUNTOFTHENEWITEMTOTHEPREVIOUSCHARGE — even within the two day«return» period. I’d rather support smaller businesses, but this leaves a sour aftertaste for boutiques. Back to Nordstrom(sigh).
