I’ve been here one time with my friends and it was great. I highly recommend the Italian grilled cheese. It is seriously sooooo good, like I crave it on the daily. This place gets pretty crowded on weekends, but they are pretty quick. I’d highly recommend this place if you’re on the Ave and want a quick, delicious grilled cheese

The girl behind the counter had us wait until she was fully done with her order even though there was another person working in the kitchen. OK that’s fine. but then she comes over to take our order and has the same plastic glove on which is covered in garlic and salt because she just tossed some fries. So when I handed her my credit card I got it back with all the stuff on her glove. OK fine. Maybe she will change her glove before handling my food. NOPE! SHEUSEDTHESAMEGLOVE. This is against all health codes. I dont know how many orders or credit card or how much money she touched with that glove before I walked in but I will never go back. Proper training needs to be in affect immediately.

Location in Burlingame is extremely slow service even after the lunch crowd. Not quite sure when the«re-opened» for business as I had started taking my patronage to the Palo Alto location at Stanford shopping center. Was shopping in Burlingame today and decided to pop in as the line was short. Ended up waiting so long that I ordered online, walked to the front and scanned my QR code to finally order. I see very dirty and unkempt tables, floors and soda /drink area as well.(2 stars) I hope this location improves. I’m giving an extra star for food flavor. Always tasty at each location. I love their gooey Mac n cheese and can never go wrong with the cheddar burger or classic grilled cheese favorite. I do enjoy the homemade sodas instead of conventional soda companies.

Great mac and cheese grilled cheese sandwich with bacon and perfectly cooked crust. I saw someone else eating a burger which looked yummy to. Simple to order, a few things I want to try. Service was good. Place was clean. I would definitely go back.

Brilliant! Advertise gluten free food and then cook it on the same grill as food with wheat. No staff training. No understanding of the ramifications of their actions. The woman at the counter couldn’t even pronounce the word gluten. If you have celiac disease please avoid this place completely. The Melt is not safe.

Went here on a beautiful sunny day with my group of friends after class. Plenty of seats for us and attentive service. Order, look at the screen for you initials, and you are good to go. I got the«Cheesesteak Melt», «Cookie’s and Cream Milkshake» and«Well Dressed Fries». They were amazing, BUT for $ 17!!! Wow! Little Lucca or Ike’s Sandwich are wayyy more bang for your buck, but this is a grilled-cheese café after all. All in all, I still have mad love for the Melt, despite its pretty ridiculous prices. It’s good a treat if you are ever around the area, but going to Ike’s or Little Lucca’s is your best bet.

Can’t complain about the food it was good, but the costumer service SUCKED. Have 4 guys back there working and none of them could could get our order right. Ordered 2 grilled cheeses, 2 fries, 1 shake &1 drink. When it was time to give us our order they gave us someone else’s food & told them we were missing a fry & shake still gave them about 10 mins and nothing had to go back up to counter and ask and they still couldn’t get it right had to wait again. Really come on how hard is it to get an order right !!

Tried it for the first time, really tasty. Had the grilled cheesesteak sandwich and natural fries w/cane cola. Also ordered the kids mac n cheese.. Very good. 3 stars for the prices vs portion size, felt a bit skimpy.

Went to Melt for first time today. The counter server was flustered. Musty been his first day. Food was pretty good-Hard to mess up a grilled cheese. We had«the works«fries. They’re ok, I wish they would use more grated cheddar and less sauce. I’m not even sure what that sauce was! My husband’s salad was served in the same funky wire basket as they serve their sandwiches and burgers in. Kinda difficult to eat a salad outta a basket. We were there at lunchtime. The place is an obvious Mecca for the mommy and small children set. The noise was a little overwhelming at times. I was trying to get some work done while there and it was a bit challenging but if my kids were still little I’d be there too. What kid doesn’t like grilled cheese? All in all its a great place to grab lunch. Next time I’ll do take out.

the service was good and food was served with a smile! although I’m glad the employees were happy, the barbecue bacon burger I ordered fell apart towards the end but it was tasty and properly cooked. I also would have liked cleaner tables and more people in the kitchen next time I come and it would made it to five stars.

A grilled cheese place? I’m down! We walked past this place while shopping around the area and I knew I had to try it. We stopped by on a Saturday lunch that was pretty dreary so the place was full but not packed. Stepping up to order, we were given a number and then choose a table ourselves. The cashier that day(Lugo?) was extremely nice and helpful. He also did not look at us weird or say anything when we went back to order the dessert(s’mores). I got the Mac Daddy(mac & cheese grilled cheese) with a tomato soup combo. The bread itself was topped with all sorts of seasoning and looked like it would be so salty and full of flavor. Sadly though, it was actually kind of flavorless. We were really glad to have gotten the tomato soup with it because it tasted a lot better and more bearable with the soup. The s’mores(which was not on the menu so I’m not sure if it’s a seasonal thing or what) was seriously where it’s at. It was the best«sandwich» I’ve had in my life and I have since craved it constantly and even tried to replicate it. Although to be fair, I am a lover of marshmallows so that is a pretty big factor in why I liked it so much. I’m not sure if I’d come just to eat here but if I’m in the area, I’d stop by for another s’mores one for sure!

2÷5… why? Because the service sucks. The menu is small. The burgers are small and don’t have much flavor. The fries aren’t good either. If I could say anything is good is their ice… ice from their ice machine is soft ice and I love chewing on it. lol… i’m just weird?

This place is refreshingly reasonable on Burlingame Ave! There portions are a nice size too! I love the Mac Daddy. You would expect it to be super greasy but it’s actually pretty light and very delish. The Spicy mission burger is also super yummy. The only downside would be the slight inconsistency. They sometimes forget to put stuff on your order and whatnot. No biggie

The menu isn’t just grilled cheese sandwiches. Surprised that the food is good since this place is never crowded, unlike Five Guys, Crepevine or Pizzeria Delfina in the immediate area. It also seems to have a more refined clientele than Five Guys or Crepevine. It’s very clean, not expensive and the food is ok The green salad was very good, maybe the strongest part of my meal here. DH liked the chocolate milk shake and his cheeseburger. I had the Mission burger that comes with mushrooms, but the amount of mushrooms was tiny. I also added avocado, but the portion was not generous. The burger was also on the small side, although it was good. The one thing I appreciated is the absence of hamburger grease dripping onto my hands. So not a juicy burger, but ok.

I’m a big ol’ sucker for grilled cheese. Who isn’t? It’s a big definite childhood favorite small meal/big snack that easily fulfilled one’s appetite. I’ve tried Melt previously before coming to this location through their food truck that used to stop by in San Francisco, but the portions were pretty small for such a high price. But I was pretty stoked to find a location here in Burlingame! Pros: — Located in the heart of the many shops in Burlingame. You’re pretty much surrounded with even more restaurants, if not stores. — Very minimal white interior with a few tables. — Simple menu that consists of different styles of grilled cheese, fries, soup&salads, burger melts, chicken melts, desserts, and even mac ‘n’ cheese! — Helpful workers. At the time there were only two, but since we were the only ones there they were very fast and efficient. — Accepts cash and credit. — Has a kids menu so you can bring your little kiddies to eat also. — Parking is street or public lots, if you’re lucky you’ll be able to snag a street parking spot. Cons: — A bit pricey for a grilled cheese. — Pretty oily, I could pretty much taste some of it through my sandwich. — Protion size is small, but it really depends on your stomach and how much it can take. I’ve had the Italian Job Grilled Cheese Melt, which consists of Fontina & Provolone, Mushrooms on Spicy Garlic Bread and the Well Dressed Fries, which has Well Dressed Creamy Aged Cheddar, Fontina & Jack, Crumbled Bacon w/Crispy Onions. The server was kind enough to bring our food to our table, how nice! The cheeses really compliment the spiciness of the garlic bread and it was pretty much a triangle of ooey goodness. The fries were okay, but they didn’t amaze me the way the grilled cheese did. Melted cheese that hardens and fries don’t taste that great together. I’ve yet to pair the grilled cheese with soup, but I will if i’m ever around the area!

R & I had the Mac n cheese and the Italian job fries and a soda. The sandwiches come with a delicious pickle. The food tastes great, I mean it’s melted cheese! The Italian job is just amazing. Withe the herbs and the mushroom inside. Oh So Good! The only negative, why 4 and not 5 starts, is their sodas. I wish they offer Coca cola or Pepsi because I really didn’t like theirs. other than that it’s a great place to come eat some comfort food.

My son is a picky eater, but as he gets older his palate is adventurous. It’s like the Melt is growing with him. First he just wanted a simple grilled cheese. Then he moved on to the Mac Daddy, combining his love for grilled cheese, Mac and cheese and bacon into one combined masterpiece. Now his go to meal is a hamburger which, lo and behold, the Melt now serves. Imagine a burger with grilled cheese on the bun. They are a bit small, but I found the beef patty tasty and juicy. I’m so glad the Melt grew their menu. It’s nice to go someplace with a simple menu for a quick bite, and the Melt is that place for me. Now if only my son could pay for his own lunch … But hey, what are moms for, am I right?

Such a bad choice in fast food. I’m shocked they even have a store front. I first heard about this place by seeing a truck. Assuming since I randomly saw this store front decided to finally try it. Ordered the truffle sandwich and the Mac daddy. Both sandwiches were super salty. The Mac tasted so mediocre. I think Kraft’s Mac n cheese out of the box is better. The trio was also salty. Too salty for my daughter to eat. Hubbie says the burger was ‘ok’ but not something to come back for. I guess it speaks volumes when you have a store front and its completely empty vs all the other places around are packed with people. Sorry guys. Don’t mean to be harsh but the taste just wasn’t there. The people were like in that ‘whatever’ mode — jobs a job to get by. Way to make a customer feel comfortable right?

Whoo hoo for The Melt remodel! The bf and I just happen to be walking around and Jenna The Melt’s Marketing person let us know they were doing a test run to try the new menu prior to the store reopening open to the public! A grill cheese sandwich for free what?! I have to say this was the best thing on a super rainy day! They now have burgers and bacon fries! Yes, I said bacon fries! I have been to the SF, LA and Stanford location and this one also has a special place in the my heart. This place has a cool, clean vibe to it and there are outlets to charge your cell in the booths! Returned for during for a regular meal and the sandwich was just as awesome! Yay for The Melt!

The Melt has finally reopened in Burlingame after a construction hiatus — perfect timing for rainy season! I stopped in on a wet day to grab a classic grilled cheese wth tomato soup — my idea of rainy day comfort food. Unfortunately, they informed me that their soup wasn’t ready and they would have to give me a refund for that portion of my order. Ugh. I walked out with my still satisfying grilled cheese, but dreaming of the missing creamy tomato soup that should have been. Le sigh.
