Prices are extremely high, and the staff is extremely rude. I called in to ask for the meat prices, as they do not have a website. The woman told me rudely that she cannot tell me more than one price on the phone. I told her that Nimah does not have a website where I can verify prices, so I needed to ask on the phone. She then told me that the limit for asking for prices is 1 item, and then I have to come in. If you want Indian Meal Moths flying around your house and their larvae climbing on your walls, you should buy your grains from here.

They have a good selection of spices, rice, dal, and most of what you need to make Bangladeshi, Pakistani, and Indian foods. The spices are an especially good value compared to most places I go. Example: 14 oz whole black peppercorns for $ 4.89; much cheaper than stores in Little Armenia, where they charge $ 8.98/lb. Today I discovered that in the basement they have a lot of freezers with many kinds of fish, and also lamb and chicken(Halal). I don’t require my meat to be Halal, and I prefer it fresh, so I won’t be buying meat there. However, I got two nice filets of some unknown fish that looked good for a fair price. The red-bearded(henna) butcher was very friendly and kind. He gave me a tour of all his freezers and gave me advice on some of the unfamiliar spice mixes(I have never bought Bangladeshi spices before). They also have a variety of utensils, some of which are not easy to find elsewhere. Some time ago I bought a juice press for making pomegranate juice.

I stopped into this store for the first time last week to buy moon daal. I needed it to take on the plane with me on Thanksgiving morning so I could make kitcheri for my father who has been ill. As I was packing my suitcase on the night before Thanksgiving, I opened the package to take some, but not all, of the amount. I was horrified to find bugs crawling out of the package. A lot of bugs! Yuk. It was too late to go out and buy more so unfortunately I would not be able to make the healing dish for my father after all. That was bad enough, but, today when I went back to the store to return the(carefully wrapped) package to show the store owner and request my $ 3 back, the two men there began hassling me. There was no one else in the store. It’s true I didn’t keep the receipt for a one time $ 3 item — I didn’t expect to have to return it. But, I also wanted to let them know so they would be aware of the problem. The two men were unkind, did not apologize, nor return my money. While Whole Foods is a big chain and I prefer to shop at local markets, Whole Foods will take back any return with or without a receipt regardless of price. It’s an amazing policy and shows how much they stand by their product and policy of customer service. I will NEVER shop at NIMAHMARKET ever again and I warn everyone from shopping there — unless you like bugs in your beans. Consider yourself warned.

Just went in and bought an umbrella during a storm. Guy was very helpful and found the one umbrella he had left. It broke before I got home and it wasn’t windy at all, but what can you expect for $ 4? I didn’t mind that as much as all, not some or most but all, of the bread on the shelf was green.

love this place! it’s right down the block from my house, is open late, has super helpful and kind staff, reasonable prices, rather decent selection of indian/middle eastern foods, and the homemade samosas are tasty!

They have a great range of Indian, Bangladeshi, and general Asian food… definitely more expensive than other Indian stores I have been to, but i still come here because they have so many hard to find things all in one place! They also have a selection of saris and salwars-kamees outfits and indian scarves… I am a fan. The staff are also very friendly and helpful. The only problem i have with them is that they do mark up some things a ridiculous amount… for example packets of premade chickpea channa masala which are 99 cents at a smaller Indian store on Somerville Ave are 2 or 3 times the price here.

I gave this place a 4-star review because it had Biggie Iggy ice cream sandwiches. The last two times I’ve been in there, there have not been any Biggie Iggies. Also, I have since found Chewie Louies — Biggy Iggy’s chocolate cousin — at the Cumberland Farms just outside Porter Square. For 70 cents cheaper. YOULOSE, Nimah Market. GOODDAY, sir.

Thought the prices are much higher than elsewhere, their fresh ginger and eggplant is considerably lower than Whole Foods! Also — you can get basmati rice, and a variety of canned goods and sauces like fish sauce and coconut milk. Also an inordinate amt. of Indian spices like cumin and coriander powder. It’s curry time! They also sell neat drinks like mango lassi. There is a minimum on credit card purchases. I look forward to finding more goodies here.

The people who run this store are REALLY nice and I will continue to go there just because I want them to succeed. The prices are REALLY high though, and the ice cream I bought there last week was completely melted and disgusting. They have three freezers… why not keep the 4 pints of ice cream they have in one of them! I don’t get it. Visit #2: I needed some eggs, so I decided to give Nimah another try. I bought the eggs and left, while noticing that the guy there seemed to be looking at me intently. Anyway, turns out the eggs expired a day before I bought them, and 5,(yes FIVE) of them were broken. I feel like the guy there knew I was buying bad eggs, and it was OK with him to rip me off. This«international» grocery store is a bunch of BS. I’m hoping they’ll go out of business and another store will move in with owners with integrity and an interest in serving the neighborhood as a whole.
