Without a doubt, these are fantastic tamales. Flavorful without being overly heavy. Love the tamales dulces that are perfectly sweetened. This is always the family’s go-to for tamales and has been for several years.

I was a happy camper when I stopped by on a whim and picked up a cheese and green chile tamale and a dulce tamale for cheap. Man they were hot and good too! Definitely my favorite tamales in El Paso so far. No wonder I kept seeing a lot of people go in and out of the place during the short time I was there. Local rocks!

This little shop is great! I have Been traveling to EP for work off/on for years and just found Lupita’s! So happy I did! I’ve only had their chile con queso tamales but they are awesome! I’ll definitely be back anytime I’m in EP.

Tamales here are pretty good. Overpriced and too much masa is the reason I have this review. Meat quality is good and flavor is there with both the pork and chicken… but $ 12-$ 14 for a dozen tamales is expensive when they’re $ 6-$ 8/doz in other cities. The masa to meat ratio is about 70⁄30. I prefer the opposite. It’s worth the trip, but not in a huge hurry to return due to price.

I have been on a Tamale quest for a month now and I stumbled upon this place I see the locals come here among other city residents. it’s definitely a hidden Gem the outside is clearly posted Lupitas Tamales it easy to spot feom the street as I park the car can see there is a line forming outside waiting to come in I can’t wait to get inside and place my order the menu is simple Tamales Pork, Chicken, Cheese and Sweet. $ 14.00 a dozen. They also sell mexican sodas and regular sodas also they sell carnitas, and other meats. As the line moves quickly I get in and there are 2 clerks taking orders and finally it’s my turn I want to try them all so I order a dozen and mix them up with a Mexican Coke. I pay with cash but they take ATM bank/credit cards. When I get to my car the smell is wonderful I couldn’t wait to get home and eat one so I unwrapped the Pollo con salsa verde it was moist full of flavor the green chile’s, the seasoned chicken it was the perfect combination of spicy and the masa was amazing I never had a cheese tamale taste so good it’s like the tamale Angels just blessed these tamales I was like wow let me go back inside and buy another dozen. In my years I’ve tasted many tamales but none like this one and don’t even get me started on the cheese & green Chile they were also amazing just the perfect hint of spicy not mild not medium just right it was just exploding with flavor I loved it words can’t describe what my tummy was feeling all I know is that it was good darn good and made daily. When I’m craving tamales I’m coming here trust me there worth it if your a Tamale lover like me you will love Lupitas Tamales an if you don’t think there as good as I claim hey are try them for your self you won’t be disappointed

These are the best damn tamales besides when my Tia used to make them from scratch. Perfect amount of maza and meat which is a rare find. Chile Colorado comes with delicious pulled pork that is just so tender and falling apart. A new variety I had yet to see was their chile con queso which man I was so glad I tried. Like a chile relleno but with maza around it. So gooey, cheesy, and a bit spicy. They freeze well too. This little market really blew my mind and I will for sure be coming back every time I go to EP.

Seriously stumbled into this place by accident. Place is no frills all grub. Counter style order, with the food right in front of you. Killer tamales, and burritos. Outside seating only. I will be back again next time I’m in EP.

The tamales are wonderful!!! Coming from Dallas we’ve had a lot of amazing options and out here it really hasn’t been great until Lupitas came along, I found them around Christmas because a few local news stations made a point of saying they’d be open late and promised full selection. The chicharrones are hit or miss honestly, sometimes chewy and flavorful and other times rock hard and burnt tasting. You kinda never know what’s coming till you get there. They have a ham hock I believe that is always great so worth a try!!!

OK… maybe they’re not Pepe’s, but they’re on the Westside, their tamales are authentic and delicious, and they don’t limit themselves to just the standard chicken w/green chili and pork with red chili. The green chili and queso tamale is perhaps the best one Tamales Lupita serves.

These tamales(red and green) are so tasty and seem homemade! Also their buñuelos for the holidays are so good too!

Tamale Heaven! Thirty years ago, I ate a sweet tamale with raisins at a Puerto Vallarta street fair. I’ve been dreaming about it ever since. Today I finally found one just as good(with raisins and coconut) at Lupita’s. The tamale verde con pollo is excellent, too. I’m sorry I’m only passing through Canutillo.

I thought I had waited too late to get Christmas tamales. My barber suggested Lupitas and I will be forever grateful. Green and red — they were absolutely fabulous. Tasty and just the right amount of spicy bite. This will always be my go to place for tamales, just like Kikis for enchiladas and Good Luck for menudo, and Chopes for chile rellenos. Now the search continues for the perfect taco. They freeze well and reheat nicely(I use a double boiler to steam them).

These are the most amazing tamales ever. I have changed my route from Amarillo to El Paso just to get these. I wish there was one in Albuquerque. I have been going to this place for about 15 years and have never been disappointed. I just wonder why they haven’t popped up in other cities.

This Christmas Eve was my second waking up at 4:30am like I’m some kind of farm animal, just so my family would not go hungry and without this Mexican tradition. You have to know the drill and how this place works. Get there early, because they will run out of red and it usually take 25 – 40 minutes for them to get a new batch out. If you want dulce or green chile and cheese, get there early. They run out and they’re done. Why do I love them? Consistency. The masa to meat ratio is balanced. These tamales are gooooooooooood. They’re spicy and flavorful, but not so hot that you need a gallon of milk to stop the heat. They have green chile and cheese(YUM), green chile and chicken(DOUBLEYUM), red chile and pork(YUM), and no frills dulce(HECKYEAH!). I’ve been other times when you can order burritos and meat. Their barbacoa is heaven. I’ve always been impressed with the food I get from there. The owner is doing is right by keeping things simple and yummy.

If you are in search of the best tamales in El Paso, search no more. Head to Canutillo and stand in line, wait patiently, and buy a few dozen green chile & chicken or red chile & pork. You will not be disappointed.
