My wife and I decided to go to a decent place for dinner last night, and thought this was the right place. The servers were nice, but the service was very slow. I don’t think we even finished any of the courses, the food definitely wasn’t even worth half the money we paid. But the slow service and the bad food did go together! We wont even consider going to another Claim Jumper ever again, I literally wasted $ 75.00. I would have had better food and service at any Denny’s, at least there you get what you expect!

My wife and I ordered tri tip… very fatty with too much pepper. My son ordered a turkey club… not sure what was in the mayonnaise but it tasted spoiled. My daughters pizza was good though. Waitstaff was friendly… not a bad experience but I wish the food was better for the price. We can scratch this chain off our list.

Great food, solid service. Deep drinks. Pretty good kids menu. Management cleared up a questionable double charge to our credit card. I love this place!!!

Very very slow service and it took forever for my family to get all their drinks and any straws; kept getting an explanation that our sodas and juices were made at all these different service stations. Soups and salads were prepared in different locations… Had to ask for the complimentary bread because we waited so long for food and the kids were terribly hungry… Sigh. Front of the restaurant waiting area reeks like the bathroom, it’s extremely unpleasant when you walk in and are required to wait for a table. Food is ok, and staff is friendly, probably will stop coming here, not like it used to be.

It was a nice surprise that they had a late night happy hour with cheap drinks, great food and a fun staff. The bartender was really cool that she let three other guys and myself watch a basketball game that was on going into overtime as they cleaned the bar area. Thank you and I’ll be back soon!

So my 4 stars alone won’t bump up their overall rating but it’s an honest expression of how I feel about our visit today. First of all we had a toddler in our group of 4. The server and hostess were all very helpful with finding a table that suited us best and set up a high chair, all in a very friendly and efficient way. Kinda made me think they had kids of their own. We got here around 12:30 and it was not crowded. I took a quick look at the salad bar(one the things we used to get often and Claim Jumper) and decided I wanted to check the menu. The new mommy ordered black tie pasta with chicken, my wife the sliders and Caesar salad and I had the roasted tri tip. The ladies had no complaints about their food, our order did not take longer than what I would expect for«cooked to order» and my tri tip was quite good, actually. I asked for country gravy on my mashed potatoes and the veggies made for a nicer lunch than I would usually have.(Like some burger place.) Most of the menu items we got were either $ 12 or $ 13 dollars and with beverages the total came in around $ 57. With good team style service I felt very well taken care of. My only negative comments have to do with my mashed potatoes and gravy were not hot and the restaurant needs a deep cleaning or rehab. The carpets smell old and make the whole restaurant seem tired and outdated.

Came here since we in the area, the service was pretty good and prompt. The food however was just very blah and smaller portions from what they used to be. Doubt we will come back here and any other location as we now have had to very blah experiences.

This place is pretty pricey! But the food is good. However, the chips came out really oily. I had the baked salmon with mashed potatoes and the salad bar. The salad bar didn’t have the cold pasta that I usually like on my salads, but it was still pretty good! The service was great! Our waitress kept checking in on us to see if we needed anything. It wasn’t too often, but it was just enough to show that she was thinking about us. We also ordered a slice of carrot cake which was late and in charge but we were all able to kill it! A child’s red velvet cupcake was also ordered and we all had a bit of that as well. There were 6 of us and we were all pretty stuffed. The grand total came out to be about $ 150 or so all together. This is one of those places where you have to be willing to spend a lot of money and be ready to feast.

Claim Jumper is always good. Go once or twice per year with a group. Get the French Dip Sandwich! Ask for Horseradish Sauce on the side… BOMB! Again, another good consistent restaurant. Never had a complaint, will keep going back and would recommend anyone to try it.

Love this place! We got here a tad on the early side, so there was no wait. Mozzarella sticks were out of this world. Chicken fried chicken is amazing. Portions are large, even for me. Never had a bad entrée here. Highly recommend giving it a try.

Our server was amazing but food has really gone down hill and so has the portions. And service overall wasn’t the best. Also our food was burnt and dry.

Came here with the family for my son’s 12th birthday last month and we weren’t disappointed. Our waiter, can’t remember his name, was awesome! We never had to ask for drink refills because we had a fresh full glass before we ran empty and he checked on us constantly. It helped that it wasn’t too busy. Food was good not great. I agree that the portions have drastically become smaller and the prices have definitely gone up but still enough to fill you up and in our occasion take some home. Kids meals are huge. No way my toddler could eat that entire pizza. My son’s steak was way too pink for being«well done» and the salad was a bit dry thus the missing star in the review. Nothing drastic enough to not come anymore. Bbq ribs are pretty good and the side of grilled veggies are delish. The chocolate overload cake is by far our family’s favorite thing from here. Must try! Since we live close by we’ll come on occasion just to pick one up to go. We’re still fans and we’ll continue to come but definitely on special occasions only. Food is not cheap and they do seem to be getting a bit stingy with portions.

We’ve been eating Claim Jumper for over 15 years until recently their portions have been getting smaller and smaller as their prices are getting higher and higher; they used to pride themselves on BIG portions — not anymore! I ordered their BBQ chicken with green beans, side salad and mash potatoes. Talk about small portions! Back in the day the mash potatoes would have filled half the plate; the portion size I got was no more that half my fist. The chick breast about a ¼ the size my fist — and their side salad was about a half of cup!!! Sad to say, this was our last visit — when management decides that greed outweighs tradition and quality then it leaves old timers to venture on… Good luck Claim Jumpers, no wonder why you weren’t packed tonight…

Food: came here for Sunday Brunch($ 17.99). Food was not very good at all. Everything was lukewarm besides the omelette station. They did not have utensils out for scooping salsa and other condiments. They ran out of syrup and did not refill it so I was stuck with sugar free syrup for my dry spongy waffle. They definitely go for quantity and not quality here. They have salad bar with many fruits as well. Ribs at the omelette and carving station were really good and tender. Service: we had to stack our plates after we finished and got another until finally they were cleared. Server was nice and it was not busy just as they opened at 10. Got seated right away and a table of our choice. Parking: lot is large and gets packed on weekends. Atmosphere: they have the usual bar section with many TVs. The dining sections had the typical booths and tables. This place would accommodate well for a large party as they have a few very large tables. Nothing fancy w the décor here.

Came here for Sunday brunch with the family. Meh. Here’s my plus sides: empty restaurant at 10am. BONUS! More food for us! Salad bar was fresh(as always) and stuffed French toast was yummy. The buffet itself was unorganized. Some dishes were missing spoons, there were no knives to spread butter, nothing to pour the salsa with. And the food was just luke warm. I was so excited for an egg Benny and the temperature let me down. Service was pleasant but she didn’t take our empty dishes away. We ended up stacking plates until she realized she should take our dirty ones. Weird because the restaurant was empty. What’s going on here?! Parking will never be an issue. Huge lot, very empty on Sunday mornings. $ 17.99 isn’t a bad deal for a brunch, but unless there are improvements, I probably won’t come back for brunch.

I never thought I would return here after my last experience, and in fact, it has taken me 15 months to even consider stepping foot back into this place and it is right down the street from our house. Ironically enough, my husband won a $ 25 gift card to here of all places, so I reluctantly agreed to go. We visited during the week and later in the evening, so there was no crowd. Our waitress was very sweet, and the first thing I said when I sat down was that my last experience here was the worst dining experience of my life. I wanted to make sure she knew that if everything wasn’t to par, she would be hearing from me(I did let her know it was not service related, just food quality related). She promised that she would make my experience enjoyable. We started with the pretzel sticks, which were piping hot and salted just right, with mustard and cheese dipping sauces. As everything with CJ, a large portion too. My husband and I shared the potato soup and a cesear. The soup was outstanding. Thick, big chunks of potato, and they put these potato crisps on the top that really put it over the edge. The salad was tasteless, I am not even sure that it had dressing on it. For the mains, my husband had the porterhouse with crispy mac and cheese bites, and I had the chicken fried steak. My son had the kids meal, grilled cheese. It is a great deal at $ 5.99, you get a sandwich, fries and an additional side(he chose mac n cheese) and a drink. My husband’s steak was cooked perfectly, and my food was great as well. No complaints. Our waitress checked in often to make sure we were happy with everything. We ended the evening with the salted caramel mud pie(it was good, but the crust was gross) and they brewed a fresh pot of decaf to me. I tipped well, since my waitress really went above and beyond to make sure she made it up to us. I think I will return and give them the opportunity to earn a few more stars back.

I met my bride years ago at Marie Callendars, so really, the Claim Jumper menu is always a little familiar. I’m sure the connection between these two companies is well-documented on the Internet, so no point in rehashing it here. During our recent weekend away, Mrs. Picante and I seemed to think that walking from the Hilton Garden Inn on PCH to Claim Jumper would be a quick trip. It looked close on the map, so what’s a little hike to dinner, right? Turns out it was nearly a mile. Which isn’t a big deal– we’re half marathoners and hikers… At least I used to be– and besides, nothing gets the appetite aroused like a brisk constitutional before supper. Upon arriving at CJ, we were pretty tired… Turns out that in full disclosure, operating a motor vehicle was pretty much out of the question that evening, and neither my bride or me are very Magellanic after an afternoon of lounging by the pool with adult beverages. The place was huge… I left our table to find the restroom and had to ask a server to help me back to our table. The menu is the same as it always is, except at Marie Callendars, they always watered down the clam chowder to stretch it– no such idea here… It was actually thick and potato-ey and good. I had a club sandwich, and it was good, too– thick sourdough bread, hot bacon… the tomatoes were definitely ethylene-gas ripened, but that’s pretty much everywhere unless you grow your own. Honestly– much like our first date all those years ago, it was less about the food, and more about the laughs and conversation with my bride. When a restaurant experience doesn’t block that or detract from it, it’s all good in my book.

I’m not sure when the last time I went to a Claim Jumper was… Perhaps never? I remember passing by the same Claim Jumper restaurant as a kid before it finally closed down, unable to sustain itself with the heavy Asian population that is now Rowland Heights. Fast-forward several years later, my group at work decides to celebrate a project well done at a local Claim Jumper. It’s got the theme of the wild west with heavy wooden tables and chairs in saloon-like room. We go because it’s got a wide variety of food choices, a salad bar, and delicious chocolate cakes. I’ve been here twice in the past three weeks. First time I ordered the sliders with«the works» on the side — lettuce, tomato, and a side of Thousand Island dressing on the side. Surprisingly delicious! The bun was soft and moist, the meat was juicy and tender. Of course there was more bun than meat, but that’s what you expect at a typical chain restaurant. I also loved their thin cut fries — they were crispy and were salted well! My second time around I ordered the sandwich duos in which you get a half sandwich with a cup of soup or salad. I opted for a clubhouse sandwich and a cup of clam chowder soup. The clubhouse sandwich was large, the bread was toasted to perfection, and it had a great bacon taste to it. Overall, taste is about 4.5 stars. Service was on point(there weren’t that many people there for lunch), and I’d rate it about 5 stars. We were asked several times by different servers as well as who seemed like a general manager how we were doing. It’s really more of a 3.5 star rating, because while the food was absolutely fine, it was way too heavy for lunch. I think maybe that’s what they’re going for, but I felt like after I ate my lunch portion, I really didn’t need to eat until lunchtime the next day! They do have a happy hour and I intend on going back to try out that menu.
