Yes, I would say that this is more expensive than your Target or Walmart optometrist, but I’m not complaining. This was the first eye doctor I went to that seemed to actually take the time to explain my prescription and information about eye health. It’s usually in, out and on with your life. During my appointment, I found out that I may be at risk for glaucoma. scary, yes, but at least I know now, and will be proactive when it comes to my eye health. I didn’t purchase glasses here, and probably wouldn’t due to their cost. If you have insurance, that does help though. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Avilla and her staff though, as they have been the most informative team I’ve ever had. Am impressed by the professionalism, and will continue to see Ossip for my eye needs.

I visited the Ossip location in Carmel yesterday since I had an eyeglass prescription that was several years overdue for an update. I thought that the service was very professional… everyone I dealt with did a good job of explaining the various instruments used throughout the exam and shared the results as well. It was about as thorough an eye exam as I’ve ever had short of dilation. I had plenty of help picking out a new frame and they took the time to steer me into models that would work especially well with my prescription. All of the options available were well explained and they actually steered me away from one that would not have been a good match. Overall the frame/lens selection process was as professionally handled as the exam. Yes, Ossip is on the pricy side as compared to other such chains such as LensCrafters and Pearle, but the service was definitely a notch above. Having insurance slashed my bill by about a third, so as another reviewer has mentioned, it’s a definite plus. Can’t wait to get the new glasses… based on my exam experience, I’m sure I’ll be very happy.

Ossip is known as a higher end place in the opthalmology world. Not really somewhere you go if you don’t have insurance. I typically go to Costco’s optometrist for my eye exams but this year I splurged on insurance and decided to go where the insured go. Well we get there and they told me my insurance takes 15% off their exam and does not cover it even though I’ve been paying all year and have not used it for anything. Really? I pay every month to get 15% off the exam!?! She also told me each box of my contacts were $ 72. When I questioned her and told her I typicallly only pay $ 13, she screamed over us to a girl across the room which was pretty crowded and they had a conversation where each of them said I’m not sure at least twice, didn’t look anything up, or confirm anything, and told me yeah i’m pretty sure they are $ 72 a box. We left and called insurance to confirm or deny this — totally false. There was only a $ 10 copay for exams. When trying to go somewhere else they said Ossip already pulled my authorization for insurance even though we were only there for 10 minutes. They just needed to release it. Easy fix but. really!!! Thanks but no thanks I will never be returning here for anything. It makes me wonder though… who are these people that DO go here and overpay? Is it just to make themselves feel better or do they not know any better as to what is out there?

Not sure why the person before thought this place was a rip off. It’s not a cheap place, but the quality of product is top notch. I’m a big fan of Oliver Peoples and they have all the latest frames. I also get my contacts and annual check up every year for the past 5 years here. Latest technology to check out my eyes(which I rely on for work, so it’s really important to me). Also took great care of my mom when she needed surgery(pre and post op care plus recommended a great surgeon). I can be a difficult customer with very high standards, so the fact I have been loyal for 5 years should say something.

Even with little to no insurance Ossip has treated me and my family wonderfully. They have looked for ways for us to save money and get the most for the money we had to spend. I have LOVED the place, the employees, and the service provided.
