We stayed in the neighborhood while visiting for a wedding and had breakfast here twice. The coffee is great, yogurt and granola delish and the French toast is amazing. The second morning we grabbed two quick smoothies which were good and served their purpose of providing quick on the go nourishment.

Sorry to be the party-​pooper to all this praise. Perhaps it’s mostly 5 star reviews are well deserved but I can only speak to my own experience on a Sunday afternoon around 2:30pm.
We live like ½ block away so my wife and went in for a quick bite. She ordered the #1 Panini Vegan and I ordered the #3 Panini with mozzarella & tomatoes.
This took them 30 min. Crazy. At 20 min I asked what the ETA was and was told that she was sorry but they had a bunch of orders before me. I looked around and saw about 6 plates of food distributed across 3 tables (mostly consisting of breakfast or luchy items)
Not sure what kind of kitchen they have but it’s ridiculous that so few orders would totally bottleneck this shop. Fast food to prepare even.
Also, food was simple & greasy (but tasted decent). My «panini» was just a toasted cheese sandwich on whole wheat bread… not really worth the $ 10.75 price tag IMHO.

This place is great. Everything I’ve had there has been fantastic. The people who run the place are so nice — it just has a really welcoming vibe. Delicious coffee and breakfast options. The BLT with turkey bacon is great for lunch. Just a great place all around.

Had a great breakfast at Café 11 231 this morning. My boyfriend and I each got omelettes with fresh fruit and coffee — everything organic — cooked exactly like we like it! Anthony (who must be one of the owners) was very friendly and let us know how much the café values fresh ingredients and doing everything to order, which you can taste. Feels like someone made you a home-​cooked meal just down the street. Great place to just grab a cup of coffee and hang out for a little. We live just on 2nd Place and will definitely be back!

My favorite place in Carroll Gardens. The only café that serves organic eggs and organic food. Run by the nicest local family. If you’re committed to eating fresh, organic, real food this is a hidden gem in the neighborhood.

Love this little place. They serve mostly organic, make fresh organic scones daily (amazing), and have great organic coffee. Condiments are all organic too.
French toast is out of this world. Omelettes are cooked to perfection and not greasy. So tired of overcooked eggs at most other places. The family that runs it is very kind and really care about better ingredients.
This is a great place to support in the neighborhood.

The blueberry scones are amazing and the coffee is great. The owners are really friendly and care about what they’re making. Plus they’ve been in the neighborhood forever. Café 11 231 has quickly become part of my weekly routine.

Number 1 café in New York hands down. They have amazing coffee, omelettes, smoothies, and more. Had an omelette with zucchini onions peppers and cheese. Easily the best omelette I’ve ever had — fluffy and fully organic. The staff is also very friendly and the café has a very welcoming vibe. Can’t wait to come back!

I love this hidden gem! The service was great and the food was amazing. A great place for breakfast, lunch, brunch, dessert, and of course coffee! All of the drinks are delicious and everything is organic. Highly recommended if you are in the area.

Try the Egg cup or one of the other egg breakfast offerings. This place has been redefined in a wholesome and organic offering. So hit this sopy up for a minimum of great coffee and a old time family merged with a modern perspective. If you live near Carroll Gardens… You probably will hope that no one else finds this place after you’ve been there

Super sweet staff. All organic. Biodegradable cups. Damn fine coffee.
