Wonderful little coffee shop. Very quiet, excellent coffee. Warning – cash only. Not that unusual for the neighborhood, but Manhattanites may be surprised. Cool tea selection as well.

Love this coffee shop. Great coffee. Not too pricey. Really good whole wheat croissants and other snacks. Cash only. Has good hours and wifi.

Cozy space, barista knows everyone, music is dialed in. Only serves an 8oz cappuccino, which is always a good sign. Baked goods pretty good as well. Free WiFi, but few /no outlets.

I have two kinds of mornings in my life. Ones that start at Henry’s Local, and ones that involve me drowning in a sea of self-hatred and confusion caused by either hangover or skipped alarm clocks. Imagine what my days would be if there was no Henry’s Local at all. Enjoying the quietude of the early morning or late evening here is pretty special. It’s a cozy space and the baristas are kind — they’re cash only and they’ve many times just asked folks to just pay the next time they come in. The owners are often around, too, and one of them is responsible for many of the tasty treats that line the counter. This place is fairly central to my mental health. I’d suggest you see if it can ease your instabilities, as well. Also, if you’re in Red Hook, check out their sister place on Van Brunt — the Black Flamingo.

Cash only. A cute café to sit down. There is ample seating. We headed in late in the day so it was pretty empty. The bathroom is clean and pretty big. The staff was friendly. My latte was a bit too hot and not very flavorful. Minimal latte art.(If you look at my other latte pics, you know I love my latte art!) Not the best latte, but it’s passable.

Best coffee in the neighborhood. We walk down every Saturday and Sunday to pick up coffee or tea for our morning stroll. The place is tiny so it’s not easy with our stroller, but they have a few chairs and tables outside if you want to sit with your little one. Service is fast and friendly. Just note, cash only.

A very cool spot just north the corner of Henry and 1st Place. A dark interior is so soothing in one’s squinting, non-firing neural, pre-coffee state. I only recently started going there as much on again off again level of coffee consumption has ramped way up again.(I blame the Brooklyn Roasting Company’s proximity to my art studio.) I like to be able to choose different drip coffees, but at Henry’s Local they only offer one. I’ve been to bleary to notice if they change it up. That said, my morning brain jolt has been delicious every time. They have been more necessary than ever since the movers picked my de Longhi burr grinder and Friis Coffee Vaults to take them far from another winter. I have to walk the long 4 ½ blocks in a total miasma until I can cop a cup. Pastries are terrible for my health(yours, too) and there’s are just delicious. I’ve only had the plain butter scone, though I’m looking forward branching out. It’s 7:15AM and I’m waiting outside now. I know they open 30 minutes later on Sundays, but I started the review in bed and had too walk over. The baristas are very pleasant and knowledgeable. I get a kick out of discussing coffee flavor notes and finishes as if I were in deep discussion with a sommelier.

This place is cash only. Really cute, dark little coffee shop. I had ice coffee and a muffin and both were delicious. Wish I could have stayed and enjoyed the interior space more. The man working behind the counter was very helpful and kind. Definitely coming back tomorrow!

This has become my go to coffee place in the neighborhood. It’s coffee competes with Blue Bottle, which is a little bit of a hike from the neighborhood but gives you something to compare against. This place is great and you don’t have to be a local to love it. That being said, it’s out of the way if you are not. I’d give 5 stars but there are somethings that bug me despite the AMAZING coffee they pump out. First is that the staff are just not professional. An order longer than 2 items poses serious difficulty for their memories. They make coffee in the incorrect order, simple fast drinks are made before the harder ones leaving one person waiting with cold coffee(or finished) before the order is complete. This is compounded by the slowness of the staff at making the coffee in the first place. The price is pretty good for the quality of the cup. Compare against Blue Bottle. You will see.

Second visit with rude morning crew. I’ll take my morning business elsewhere. There are too many great places in this neighborhood with employees who smile or greet you when you walk in(or maybe even both!) to continue coming here.

Great small café in Carroll Gardens. Wifi is reliable, there’s always a seat and plenty of computer plugs. The restroom seems to be unreliable as it is closed frequently. After a half hour of drinking iced coffee and no bathroom = bad situation.

Stumbled upon Henry’s Local in a walk through Brooklyn. Nice décor. Comfortable setting. Blah music. My cappuccino wasn’t anything to write home about – in terms of being particularly good or bad – but I liked the general flavor and the service was friendly. I’d say Henry’s is worth another visit.

I used to live across the street and now that I’m 4 blocks away, which is kind of a distance in this neighborhood, I still go back once a week. It’s a quiet, dark and relaxed atmosphere that won’t appeal to someone looking for a hybrid club-coffee shop. But fuck anyone so tacky and entitled to demand that a neighborhood coffee shop offer cheesy incentives and extras. As for the coffee, it is strong and delicious, and the pastries are from one of the fancy bakeries whose name I don’t recall. Great place.

Take note of the«local» in the name. This is kind of the perfectly placed spot if you’re a local. Not that people from other neighborhoods wouldn’t enjoy the laid back vibe, tasteful décor and solid offerings, but it’s set many blocks back from the main drag and many blocks away from the nearest subway. Which I’d suspect is just fine by all the locals that frequent this place. It’s never too empty, never too full. Just right.

First timer and won’t come back. The atmosphere emits«locals only» and the décor is a sad attempt at rustic/vintage. Just uncomfortable. I ordered a medium Chai latte for $ 4.25. It was all foam and lukewarm water! She wouldn’t even put a lid on my order after I told the clerk it was to-go. She scoffed and handed me the lid!

I work nearby and they started opening earlier in the morning so we could all get our caffeine fix!(At least, that’s what I heard) Tasty pastries, consistently delicious drinks, friendly baristas who take the edge off early mornings. If they ever get that liquor license I may never go home again!

Killer café. If I lived in bk(Carroll gardens) Id absolutely make this my number one spot. I had an iced latte. It was delicious. No complaints. Solid wifi. Solid amount of outlets. Great ambiance. Love the vibe. Blues playing in the background was great. The barista was friendly and attractive in a heroin-chic-Cher type of way. They get four stars instead of five because they don’t take credit cards and it’s 2014. If they start taking cards I’ll update this rating to a 5 star. But someone will have to tell me cuz I don’t live in NYC.

I had a pretty long day and I needed to catch up on some reading and unwind a bit. My buddy told me there was a good café up the street called«Henry something something on the right». I got the straight black coffee and a chocolate croissant. This was pretty much exactly what I was hoping for. More cafés should be like this. TL;DR: Solid café. Reasonably priced; good atmosphere; nice coffee.

Really nice little spot. Exactly the kind of place out neighborhood needs more of. Friendly staff, local snacks /treats and nice off the main drag location
