Recently moved to Baltimore from the SF Bay Area, so needless to say, my Chinese food bar is pretty high. Hunan Taste delivered in a big way. We ordered Mapo Tofu, Hunan Salt and Pepper Ribs, Pressed Tofu w/Chinese Leeks, Dao Miou sauteed with Garlic, and Vegetarian Fried Rice. Everything was delicious, and seasoned perfectly — the spicy dishes were spicy, and the vegetable dishes were more balanced. To top it off, Mike our server extraordinaire, brought us a whole lobster, salt and pepper fried! Turns out they are offering a whole lobster or perch for every table that orders $ 60 or more. The special is good until 2÷8÷16. So happy to have found Hunan Taste!

This is great food. I used to line Hunan Manor in Columbia. However, lately their food quality has gone down a lot. Now, my best choice for good Chinese food around Northern HW county is Hunan Taste. Of course you must know what to order and how to order. If you don’t like certain thing/spices you have to know. So, don’t blame the chef for everything ;)

#NoMore10%Discount# Used to be good. And previously they had two method for enjoying 10% discount. However, they just stopped this promotion without announcing. 10% is nothing for such Chinese restaurant, considering they sell pork rib for $ 16 which can be bought at most $ 5 in Asian supermarket. Such stupid stopping policy will just discourage loyal costumers.

Best Chinese in Baltimore County! It’s the closest thing to the cooking of my childhood, whether you eat in-restaurant or get to-go. They hilariously have a menu for their Americanized customers and a separate Chinese-language only menu for, well, the Chinese-speakers. I’m pretty sure I got the former, but I wasn’t offended. Just be aware that there are probably off-menu items you aren’t aware of. We got the shiitake mushroom with bok choy, Hunan fried rice, salt and pepper shrimp, thinly sliced lamb with cilantro, and ma po tofu. The fried rice and tofu weren’t anything to write home about in my opinion(how can you mess up fried rice?), however next time I’ll ask them to spice up the ma po tofu. My fault for forgetting. Everything else was just exquisite. The shiitake was addicting and the shrimp perfectly crispy. I have a feeling this place shines more with specialty dishes than with simple ones, so I’ll take note for next time. It’s a 30 minute drive from Baltimore, so I’d plan ahead. Your best bet, in-city, is Zhongshan on Park, but that’s not as good, and in a sketchy area. Haha. I recommend both places, depending on how long you’re willing to drive.

One of my favorites in all of Baltimore! Hunan taste has a great selection of both authentic and American style Chinese food. Their dining room provide a great communal atmosphere for large dinner parties complete with semi private dining spaces and lazy susan trays at most tables. Some of my favorites include: Crispy Roasted Duck(authentic menu), Spicy Sauteed Fish Filet(authentic menu), Spicy Fish with Brown Sauce(authentic menu) Dry-fried Green Beans w. Pork(authentic menu), Orange Beef(American menu), and Black Pepper Chicken(American menu). You really can’t go wrong with anything and the prices are incredibly reasonable. In addition, they’re open on Christmas evening, so it’s a great place to go and avoid cooking.

This place is quite authentic, and many of the dishes hit the spot. I personally really like the pigs ear appetizer, which I would recommend to all the adventurous eaters out there. However, I would say that all of the dishes I have had so far are spot on, so if pigs ears aren’t quite your style, there’s still plenty to choose from.

You like General Tso’s chicken? Won’t find that here. This place is prolly one of the most legit Chinese food in the area. The menu is exhausting but they have Mao’s braised pork belly and other delights that may seem more obscure to ze average ‘merican. They also have hot pot! Hot tea, fun atmosphere, and BYO. A bit far from the city but worth the drive for some good Chinese food.

The food authentic and the service reminds me of my short stay in china. Friendly courteous and prompt. Considering I am driving 1.5 hrs from Lancaster, PA… Highly recommended.

This place is pretty authentic Hunan cuisine. Hui Guo Roy extra greasy and spicy. The fish soup really good too. The two things that could use improvement were I asked for a coke and they served it in just a glass and the glass was really small. Not sure what was done to the rest of the can? And the parking spaces were really it can be difficult to navigate the parking lot.

The food here is excellent, no doubt about it. The menu has changed in between the last two times I have been there. It seems as if they have tried to make their menu more authentic Chinese food and less Americanized. I can appreciate that, especially considering the good prices of the food. If you get anything at market price, assume it’ll be around $ 60. My only complaint was due to a time when my date and I were put into their back room and happened to be around a poorly behaved family. The children were running around the room wreaking havoc and the owner of the restaurant came around several times and did not remedy the situation. I know this can happen at all restaurants, so this does not really take away a whole lot from the overall experience. The food is authentic, the service is prompt, and the price is reasonable. You cannot ask for more.

My favorite Chinese restaurant in Baltimore area. They are open until midnight on the weekdays, and one our our favorite places to eat after the gym. The service has always been better then the«normal» Chinese restaurants. The food is the focus, since I am reviewing a restaurant. You can get about anything you could possibly think to eat. From basic dishes that are a staple in Chinese restaurants, to the über exotic plates that would scare normal folk. The menu is quite extensive and most of the items we have tried, has been quite delicious. One of my favorite dishes is the sponge cucumber eggs and the double crispy lobster. The sea bass is also another can’t go wrong order. Whatever you try, this restaurant won’t dissapoint. Are you starving? The food also comes out faster then most other resturants but the food still fresh and delicious.

Probably one of the more authentic Chinese restaurant in the area, featuring northern style. Their hot pot is delicious. The $ 29 all you can eat is a great option for those who are adventurous or indecisive. All the staffs are extremely friendly and helpful.

Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing, because other Unilocalers seem to really enjoy this place while I thought the food was simply alright. I ordered the chicken with mushroom dish, and the chicken was mostly fat and bone! There were large chunks of bone, but what was worse was the tiny bits and pieces of bone that I kept having to spit out. It was pretty embarrassing having to spit out pieces of food in front of my coworker. The bok choy and mushroom dish was rather bland, and so was one of their soups that we ordered. Most of the food on the menu had spicy pepper signs on it, so I didn’t want to order them. This really limited my choices a lot. This restaurant is really authentic though, and they even have things like pigeon and turtle on their menu(see one of the last few pages of the menu). I have never seen that in any restaurant before!

I’ve lived in this neighborhood for quite a few years and had heard good things about this restaurant so on a whim we decided to give it a try. We received a warm greeting at the door and by our waitress. Two menus were presented to us, one with what I would call more«authentic» Chinese food and the other with what I guess would be «American style» Chinese food. We went with the less authentic menu. We ordered a plate of Sweet and Sour Pork and Triple Delight both were very good. I’m sure we will visit again and maybe order from the more authentic menu!

I’ve been coming to this place for years and have always had a fantastic time. Last night, my brother and I met up with a couple friends for dinner and decided to sit at the table on the left side with curtains. We came there around 7pm. This was my 2 friends first time here so we ordered 3 simple but delicious dishes and 1 complex dish for them to try: Mao’s braised pork, salt and pepper shrimp and scallops(not on the menu), Ox tongue and roasted duck. Mao’s braised pork comes with fatty chunks of pork belly in some Chinese brown sauce filled with pieces of garlic which tastes delicious. The salt and pepper dish was simple but great. It’s fried shrimp and scallops seasoned with salt and pepper. The Ox tongue was fabulous. It was very tender, tasty and had a kick to em. Watch out for the peppers tho because they were pretty hot! If you had roasted duck before, whether at a Chinese place or Vietnamese place, this dish won’t be foreign to you. It’s less greasy, less oily than the usual but it does have the same type of sweet Hoisin sauce for dipping. All the food was great. Free unlimited tea, service was impeccable and the owner of the restaurant stopped by numerous times to check up on us. There were a few times where we had conversations and joked around which was great. We didn’t get out until 10:30. This place has always pleased me and my taste buds. This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in the Northern part of Maryland.

I like this place a lot. In fact, it’s one of the best places for Chinese food. But, today they pissed me off. We arrived at 535pm(an early bird dinner for us) and the place was empty except 2 large parties in the back room. The owner/manager escorted us to the 2 top table in the back room adjacent to the 2 large parties. I asked if we could sit up front at a 4 person table because we wanted to order a lot of food. He pretended to not understand me and handed us off to the junior manager/host. He explained to us that the boss didn’t speak English and claimed that many people called ahead to reserve tables. He offered to let us sit at a 4 person table towards the front of the restaurant. He said he didn’t usually offer those seats because of the draft of the opening door. We picked the table furthest away from door(out of the 3 table cluster) and as I was about to sit down, the Boss said we couldn’t sit there. 90% of the restaurant is empty, it’s 535pm and you aren’t going to let me sit down? That guy sucks… he’s lucky the people he hires to cook do a great job. So frustrating.

Came here for lunch today with a party of 3. We arrived around 11:30 and it was pretty empty, so we were seated quickly. The décor inside was really beautiful, loved all the lanterns, the chairs, the tables, the sink. The place was chilly, so thank goodness I was able to get hot water instead of ice water to drink. We ordered the lamb and fish casserole, sweet and sour ribs(糖醋排骨), and beef on toothpicks(牙签牛肉). The casserole was a soup that came out in a beautiful metal pot over a lit fire. The broth was a milky white and super flavorful. The lamb and fish were so tender and tasty! My favorite was the sweet and sour ribs which were tender, had a slight crunchy coating to them(yum!), and an awesome sauce. The beef on toothpicks had a cumin, xinjiang styled spice to it which was tasty. My only criticism is that there was too much fried coating and not enough beef. I’ve heard that this place is the only decent Chinese place near Baltimore and while the food is good, it’s pretty overpriced. One perk is that you can get a frequent diner card and after 10 meals, you get $ 20 off.

My roommates took me here for my birthday and got the hotpot! It’s $ 25 a person, all-you-can-eat. Considering the rarity of hot pot places around Baltimore, this did not disappoint! Our waitress, Mandy, warned us that it was a «bad day» for hotpot because they didn’t have certain fixings(pigs blood, cuttlefish ball, crab, maybe some others). We proceeded anyway, and boy if that was a «bad day,» I can’t wait to see what a «good day» is like… You get only 2 broth choices, spicy or herbal – just get the mixed pot. One roommate was sniffling through dinner and someone’s eyes were watering because the spicy half of the pot was on her side. That’s my answer to question of «Was the „spicy“ really spicy?» I suggest eating most of your hotpot using the mild broth and finishing off with the spicy. Bigger-than-expected portions of each fixing were brought out to us. My friend made the remark, «Hmm…this would be good for the guys…» I recklessly ordered all the mushroom and tofu varieties and realized too late that we were going to have the problem of: too much food, too little time. Not to mention: too little stomach. The only thing I wished for was more sauce concoctions, as we only had sha-cha, soy sauce, and chili oil. Tip: they make their own fishballs! I usually never eat fishballs, but I tried one and it was SOFT and spongy, and not«fishy» in taste. It was the one thing we actually considered getting a second order of, despite our gradually protruding tummies.
