I decided to eat in, I ordered Pepper Steak, they have bottled water and soda from Kirkland. $ 9 …NINEDOLLARSANDCHANGE. AREYOUKIDDINGME. The food was hot but steak was made of rubber. There were no vegs in fried rice. The spring roll and duck sauce was horrible. I am giving two stars instead of one cause the food was temperature hot and he brought it on a plate with knife and fork… no napkin.

This is the second-worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. Totally bland and chicken that feels more like melted Tofu(as if that’s even possible). I had the hot and sour soup, Kung Pao chicken, and cashew chicken. All three were tasteless to the point of disgusting. That said, the portions were generous, the lady on the phone and at the counter was very nice, and they had the food ready on time.

*THISREVIEWISONLYABOUTTHEIRDELIVERYANDNOTACTUALLYEATINGTHERE* my bf and i decided to order delivery last night as we just came back from a long day of fishing and driving! Unilocal reviews made me choose Young Chow Café, and glad someone posted pics of menu on here so i could decide. we ordered Hunan Chicken(extra spicy) and Kung Po Combination(extra spicy), string beans, hot and sour soup, and two egg rolls. we were soooooo surprised when it arrived not even 10 minutes later!!! it is very close by to where my bf lives but still?! 10 mins! thats like crazy fast. i was expecting 30 – 45 mins like most places. it ended up being like 30 bux + tip . the hunan chicken was probably the better of the three dishes we got. it had the most fresh ingredients and veggies and did actually have a kick to it. the kung po combination… meh… i wish we just got that in a small size instead of large, the meat felt and tasted kinda gross, it wasnt as great as hunan chicken. the veggies werent that good either except for onions. Also the string beans barely had any flavor to them =( the egg rolls and soup were delish!!! super amazing hot and sour soup! it was actually hot :) we would order again from here just because they have amazing delivery time and i would get the soup + egg rolls over and over again ! This is more of a 3.5 star review. I don’t understand Chantilly and why it’s so hard to find a stellar Chinese delivery place. My office has tried numerous places and all of them have been blah! Young Chow is the best we’ve found so far. I ordered the Generals Tso’s lunch special. I am usually much more adventurous then this but since this was the first try I opted for a pretty safe option. First off, let me say this was HOT. Not spicy hot, but temperature hot, so whatever method they use during delivery is working. I enjoyed the sauce this was in, however I wish there was a little bit less of it. The rice was dark and rich in flavor but was just rice and egg. Overall, the lunch special wasn’t a bad deal at $ 7.26(which comes with a drink also), however, lets talk about the spring roll. G-R-E-A-S-E-Y! I bit down, and grease just poured out, and that my Unilocal friends, is why I have finally employed the ½ star! It’s sad, the flavor in that spring roll is pretty good, but the grease and the sopping wet shell made it pretty much gross. The staff is nice on the phone and the food was delivered pretty quickly. I wish the menu online was updated but since they brought one with our delivery that wont effect me any longer.

I don’t know anyone that eats at offbeat Chinese take out places expecting world class food, so some of the other reviews are a bit interesting to me but not enough to scare me away. I liked YCC, it was decent food, prepared quickly & a great value. Each entrée comes with steamed rice & the sides(soup, egg rolls, wontons) are inexpensive to add. True, it CAN be a bit bland sometimes but I’ve found that it’s hit or miss, so there must be more than one chef & someone is more experienced than the other. There are good coupons inside the menu that can be used each time you order, the free entrées & extras are cool perks lots of places don’t offer anymore. They lack the traditional, order by number specials for dinner but it’s still a hit with our family & we’ll definitely be back.

Been here a few times over the years, fairly decent take-out, nothing overly special though(have seen a hispanic cook in the back so… expect Americanized Chinese food). My friend loves their chicken wings though. I enjoy watching their fish grow over the years ;)

Price was alright for lunch special($ 7.5) but food was bland. I had the szchezuan(sp?) beef, and it didn’t have much flavor, and same goes for their regular fried rice that came with it. Service was fast and friendly, so no complaints there. Maybe I’ve been spoiled with better Chinese food out in CA and in the NW region, but food was just ok for me.

Probably the best fast food Chinese food in the area! They also serve food not necessarily on the menu — our favorite is Chicken with Black Bean sauce. I have not tried their sushi, but their Chinese dishes are flavorful without being overly spicy. They are always packed well and travel well for delivery or pick up. Large portion sizes. They have minimal seating — more of a carry out place.

The food at best was bland. I’m not kidding, there was NO flavor. Even the hot mustard wasn’t very hot(& that comes in a packet!) The«fried rice» was just that. Rice that had been fried. No egg, no veggies, no meat, zippo… zilch…zero! The food was ready quickly & they are very friendly(reason for 2 stars). I was disappointed to find that the menu on their website hasn’t been updated for over a year, & therefore the prices were higher. I don’t have a problem with inflation, I just have a problem with being given mis-information. I wouldn’t have ordered as much to save on cost. The fried wontons were WAY over cooked as well. I love Chinese food, but only GOOD Chinese food.

I had the lunch special chicken in garlic sauce and steamed dumplings. The steamed dumplings were pretty standard and decently sized according to a previous reviewer. The egg roll was fine. Their rice must be the cheapest rice on earth since it looked that way along with sort of looking like fried rice with the brown chinese soy sauce and nothing else. It didn’t taste bad or anything though. The chicken in garlic sauce was edible, but it wasn’t really something I could scarf down so I had a little bit of leftovers. I’m not sure if it was the oil and its smell or the spicyness and taste that was telling me this is tough to eat. I did get a few forehead zits that night and the next day which is always amusing when you know exactly why. Maybe I just chose the wrong dish?

I’m no Chinese food expert, but I will say that the food I’ve had here is extremely well portioned for the price(you get more than your money’s worth). The steamed dumplings were huge with thick wrappers, and the sauce they come with was one of the few I’ve really liked from Chinese places. As I work nearby, I frequently stop by to grab soup(Egg Drop, Hot & Sour, and Wonton) which are a steal at $ 1.49. Wait times are short here, service is as you’d expect from any Chinese place! Do keep in mind that this is meant to be a takeout place, there is virtually no seating room inside.

this place is soo good i bring the food back to los angeles! i am a flight attendant, and i layover nearby. once a week i order several items to bring back to l.a. for our next night dinner. that’s how good this food is! the kitchen is probably cleaner than most peoples home kitchens. the food is prepared to order. not fatty, greasy, or salty. the meat/protein items are lean and juicy. the veggies are crisp and bright. reasonable prices, good portions, and friendly service. a must go to!

Large portion but lacked flavor. Lady at the desk is nice but beware of the younger guy sitting at the table, it appears painful doe him to say«Hi» or take the mean look off his face… I think he’s the disgruntled cook/son

«Hello, Young Chow Café, how may I help you?» That may sound like a standard greeting therefor easy to remember, but you know you have a problem when you can exactly replicate the accent that goes along with the greeting. You see I have a problem, and I’ve heard admitting is the first step. I have an addiction to Chinese food. There I said it… now, what’s the next step? There are a fair amount of lunching options in the Chantilly, VA area. I won’t lie, most days I wished I worked in Herndon so I could frequent Aaoji or Charcoal Kabob, but on Young Chow days I am rather content with Chantilly. Young Chow Café exists in the strip Mall right after Fast Food Central in Chantilly, same strip mall as Willards BBQ. There is plenty of parking right out front, which is nice because I am rather lazy. There are exactly 2 tables for seating, one of which is often occupied by the delivery guy(except for during lunch rush of course). This is not exactly the place you want to sit and enjoy your meal, but then again, it’s Chinese takeout, what were you expecting? I always call my order in and then come pick it up, so I’m not sure how long it takes if you order while your there. I will say however that I call when I’m leaving my office and my food is ALWAYS ready by the time I get there. My office is a whopping 2.55 miles away. There is delivery for the lazy/time challenged within 3 miles of the restaurant. I am usually both lazy as well as time challenged, but I feel that if I do not leave my desk for more than a 5 minute interval at least once a day I am more likely to feel the urge to beat someone… OK, now on to the food. I find the food is better quality and more flavorful than most Chinese takeouts. I usually get one of the lunch specials(between $ 6.39 and $ 6.59) which contains fried rice, entrée, and spring roll. My favorite is L13, Triple Delight. I also get a small entrée if I’m not feeling a lunch special. My favorite is Rainbow Beef, which I’ve never seen anywhere else. It’s beef with a whole bunch of veggies in a brown sauce. I ask for everything extra spicy and for extra crunchy veggies, they are happy to accommodate. They will also accommodate requests that are off the menu if they have the ingredients, i.e. beef with string beans… nom nom nom. Spring rolls and dumplings are pretty good as well. Quantity of food giving is copious! Do not order the large of anything unless you are: a) sharing b) plan on eating it for more than one meal c) Andre the Giant Staff is very friendly, restaurant is clean, food is yummy and easily identifiable(which is not always the case at takeouts I have found), prices are stellar for the amount of food. Call in — pick up — stuff your face — and then praise me for taking my advice: o)

I am unclear on what constitutes great Chinese food. I am sure this is a failing on my part and not Young Chow. I ordered delivery from them this evening as I was home sick and wanted something simple. Based on the other reviews, I ordered chicken fried rice and the steamed dumplings. First, let me say that the people on the phone were very nice. They also take credit card orders over the phone, which is nice. The food arrived hot and in 1⁄3 the time they said it would, a nice surprise. The portions, on the other hand, were enormous. There are 6 steamed dumplings in an order and each was the size of a child’s fist. The chicken fried rice was also huge with plenty of veggies. The food was fine, although as I note above, I am not sure what would make it great. The overall experience, on the other hand, was great.

Oh my gosh! I’ve finally found great Chinese food near my home!” I read about this place & made a quick stop to pick up dinner last night. I’m so happy that I did. I discovered 2 basics that were quite good for a decent price: steamed dumplings(thick wrapper version) and combination fried rice. The ingredients were so fresh! My only complaints were that they only have a 4mile delivery radius(which is darn good, but I live just outside of) and the sauce for the dumplings was a tad sweeter than what I’m used to. But, believe me I’ll be back again to pick up more!

Best Chinese food in the area. Their triple delight is excellent as well as their soups and spring rolls. Be warned… they are highly addictive. Very fast service. If you call it in, you only need to call about 10 — 15 minutes before you arrive(15 — 20 during lunch rush) and it will be waiting for you when you walk in. Enjoy!

I stay at a hotel near this place at least twice a week for business and I always get take out from here. I order the Sha-Sha Chicken with rice and the Crab Rangoon. The food is excellent and the portions are huge. Ming who works at the counter is very nice and remembers my order when I walk in the door. You can even save some for leftovers as your food does not disintegrate into a mysterious goo after a few hours in the fridge. I wouldn’t eat in as there is only one tiny little table but great for take out. They also won an award for the top 100 Chinese places in the US.
