This was my second visit out to the Preserver and the course was in slightly better shape then the first time I played it 2 years ago. The greens were rolling a little slow and I think that was because they had some rain the nigh before, but the fairways were in great shape and the rough was relatively up too. I got there about an hour early for my tee time and they let me head out there right when I arrived. I was able to get around in 3 hours in a cart which is great and you better have a cart when you go there too. The cart is needed when you are moving between the holes and you will use it plenty because there are some serious walks between greens and tees. It’s not a walking course and as long as you know that going into you will be in good shape. The driving range is a good facility there and I appreciate what they have in terms of practice area. Practice bunker and a few practice greens there as well. The holes are designed so you have to hit a number of different shots. You will use all of your clubs and you can hit no drivers if you wanted to off the tees. I mostly hit 3 wood and hybrid from the back tees, but you can use all your clubs if you wish on the holes but you do have to avoid a number of hazards and run out areas. It’s a great course; a little far away from everything down there, but in a good spot and the price is right for golf in the Triangle.

This is a very challenging golf course that you will definitely use all your clubs.
