I have been playing golf in Raleigh for only a few short months and have been quite disappointed with the quality of the public courses so far but this course was great. The layout is really nice with lots of variety of shots. The course had just received a good soaking 2 days prior but the course was running fast and there wasn’t any nasty muddy spots on the course. This course obviously drains well. The course conditions were fantastic for this time of year(April). There were still some aeration holes on the greens but largely the greens had begun to recover. Putts didn’t roll as true as I would like but I will hold that criticism for when the greens should have fully recovered. The fairways were in great shape and provide a good amount of roll. I could get quite a bit of spin from fairway shots which suits my game style. The only big negative I had was the 5 hour round. Need to speed up play for sure. The starter suggested that the greens were running 12 on stimp meter but I have putted 12s and these were no 12, maybe 10 or 9.5.

Nice track in a beautiful neighborhood. Great program for kid’s as well(Dona Lerner Golf) Price is very low, all things considered. Most likely because its do far in the middle of nowhere You won’t be disappointed

Since the new owners took over the course(and food service) have steadily gone downhill.(And that’s saying a lot for the food service as it was pretty bad to begin with). The wait staff are slow, rude, and… well what else is there. The only bright spot is the golf staff. These folks are the consummate professionals you’d expect in a neighborhood golf course; and the folks on the other side of the building could learn quite a bit about customer service from them. Don’t waste your money — play Finley.

Awesome course in great shape. Greens were soft and watered and fairways were also prime. A lot of variety off the tee, not really a grip it and rip it course. Very fun round and fair rates especially at twilight.

I had high expectations coming into this place cause the website touted it as «One of America’s top 100 Residential Golf Courses.» Obviously from my 3 star rating, I was disappointed, but it is still a decent course. Starting with the good… Pace of play was good, and it presents a pretty good challenge. the course is very well kept and the greens are in very good shape. BUT, the greens were very inconsistent… some were firm and hard to hold, while others were really soft. It was very frustrating to see your shot 2 skip and stop on one green, then backspin off the green the next. Hitting and praying takes fun out of the game! The thing that really turned me off about the course was the layout. I didn’t really understand a lot(a majority) of the holes. For example, there was a long par 5 with a hidden hazard going across the fairway, that my drive happened to find. I am not a long hitter so I can only imagine the number of people that hit good drives and were punished(nothing indicating distance to hazard on the teebox). Not only that, the hazard is so long, you would have to carry about 300 to pass it with a drive. Having to tee off with a 3 wood on a par 5 is kind of a strange concept considering I had to lay up after i dropped because I was still about 250 uphill. There was a common theme of holes that had fairways slope downhill into hazards that you had no idea were there(first timers beware!). There are also countless par 4s that you HAVE to lay up on(I have never teed off with 3 iron on so many holes). I have no problem going with 3 iron off the tee… when my driver is off, or on a hole for strategic purposes. But here, I had no choice but to hit 3 iron after 3 iron after 3 iron because the holes presented no other options(I was even close to hitting into the hazard with a 3 iron a couple times so 3 wood would even be out of the question). In stark contrast, there is one ridiculous par 4(7th hole) that you either have to go for in 1(280 yds dogleg downhill) or lay up about 160 yds. Obviously, I went for it(TINCUP!!!) and landed on the green, but it skipped off the side of the green and it nearly rolled back into the hazard(wth?!). Okay, enough of the venting. To be fair, I would probably have a much better time if I went again because I know what to look out for. That being said, there are wayyy too many quality golf courses in the area to justify going back IMO. This is nowhere close to a bad course, but it does not live up to the high standards of NC golf.

Great twilight value. Greens were slow but well-maintained. Tight fairways. Not a forgiving course. Very well kept.
