Cracker Barrel Old Country Store

Cracker Barrel is nothing fancy, just good old homestyle Southern cuisine. You always get a decent meal but never an exceptional one. Service is generally pretty good. I don’t dine here too often but my wife wanted some chicken and dumplings tonight so we headed to Cracker Barrel. She got her chicken and dumplings, they were good but just very ordinary and could have used a little more seasoning and maybe some herbs. I had a sampler with meatloaf, ham and chicken & dumplings. You already know about the dumplings. I found the meatloaf actually quite good though a touch dry, the sugar-​cured ham was okay but the piece was very thin which didn’t make for a very substantial bite. I would prefer to sink my teeth into a little thicker slab of ham even if it was only a couple of bites. I enjoyed some of the sides, especially the pinto beans and baby carrots. The carrots were very tender, sweet and tasty. They were the highlight of the meal for me. The green beans were pretty good and the fried okra was rather tasteless. Steak fries were okay when we added salt.
Service was excellent, our waiter was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. I appreciated him steering us away from ordering items he thought we would not enjoy. The restaurant was clean and attractive but they really need to replace some of their paper menus. They get stained, tattered and torn to the point they detract from the dining experience.
Overall, our trip to Cracker Barrel last evening was on par with all my previous experiences with the restaurant. Nothing fancy or exciting, just good food of average quality. I’ve never had a bad meal at Cracker Barrel but I’ve never had a great one either, it’s a solid three-​star choice for a meal.

It had been awhile since I have eaten their food. But i had Recently had ordered food to-​go with my sister, it was easy and if didn’t take too long.
We got 4 dinners, I got their chicken tender dinner that comes with 5 – 6 crispy chicken tenders with 3 sides of your choice: corn, mac’n cheese, & fries, it was way more than enough for me, my eyes were too big for my stomach. The dinner was also accompanied with complimentary corn bread and biscuits. And they are really good (ask for Apple butter).
Customer service was great and the food was great. I recommend this place to anyone, families, gatherings, etc.

My family and I decided to come to cracker barrel tonight to have dinner. We usually do t eat here but tonight really reaffirmed our reasons why. Most of our food was undercooked even after sending it back. The other food was too hard and some was even cold. The service was not horrible which is the only reason they are getting 2 stars. This was a horrible dinner to say the least.

Talk about packed! I guess everyone had the same idea for getting a late breakfast, but I have to say this place is always worth the wait. Trying to find a place to stand was a bit challenging but I’m guessing we were seated after about 35 – 40 minutes. I had the fried catfish platter with a side salad, okra and dumplings and my husband had the breakfast sampler. The service was great, the food was great and the company was great! Shout out to my ride or die buddy slash hubby! :-) I typically have to ask for a to go box because of the large serving size of my meal and this time was no different. Great catfish for breakfast/​lunch and dinner equals a great day!

We decided to do a late breakfast midweek and had a Cracker Barrel gift card from Christmas. We were seated promptly and greeted by our server. She was good, but not great. They weren’t overly busy, but it took a little longer than usual for the drinks to get refilled. We all ordered breakfast food, some of us 3 had similar items and it got confusing when the food came out. She placed my grits and biscuit and gravy in front of my mother’s place and only gave me one plate. I asked where my biscuits and gravy were and she just pointed to the plate sitting across and diagonal from me and said «that’s yours». Also note, for the second time in a row of eating there, they were waiting for more biscuits. So my plate had one old biscuit barely warm whereas my mother’s plate had two old biscuits on it. It would have made more sense to wait to bring out both biscuit and gravy plates until they were fresh and ready. Instead, my gravy was totally cold by the time the new hot biscuits came out so I wasn’t really able to enjoy it like I had hoped. The rest of the food was good, although I think my egg portion was lacking. It looked more like 1 scrambled egg with cheese, and at $ 1.19 to add cheese, its a little pricey for the amount. Overall, decent service and decent food, I would have given 3 stars because of food quality/​readiness but since we paid with a gift card primarily, the meal for three was only about $ 9 for us all so I went ahead with a 4 star.

Love this place! Whenever I take a road trip south I try to have at least three meals here. The breakfast menu is amazing, and available all day. The daily specials are my favorite, I always get Saturday chicken and rice. All the sides are fresh and homestyle cooked. The biscuits alone are worth a visit! I’ve been to at least 100 of these from New York down to Florida !

Service was lacking definitely, granted we were a table of 7, 4 dinners came out 5 – 7 minutes before the others, the gentlemen at the table were served first. Getting a drink refill was difficult. All of the bread was placed at one end of the table. They need to teach their servers proper etiquette.

Had great service and they have you hang out in the shop until you are called… so I bought a whoopie cushion.
Had the grilled Reuben which is really damn good here… the mac and cheese as a side totally sucks. It’s not good at all. Other than that. oh and they sell Big Red soda !!
On sundays it is super busy from those eating after church.

We forgot a few tiny small souvenirs and realized when we got back to DC area… Guess what? We call them and manager offer to ship them over to us… Sure enough our less than $ 20 worth stuff got shipped to us via UPS… Shipping it was more expensive than merchandise… The service alone got us to go back this year. The food was right on point as always at this location and now with their kind gesture we’re definitely going back each time we’re in the area. A HUGE THANK YOU AGAIN Miguel P.

I stopped by for dinner and had a wonderful meal. I was seated quickly and my server Carlos was outstanding! He made sure everything was ok and checked on me several times. I had chicken & Dumplings, fried okra, corn, sweet potato casserole, biscuit and sweet tea. The meal was great and the casserole was perfect!

I had the Southern Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad and the chicken was dry, dumplings were not fully cooked, rice pilaf was over cooked. The sweet baked potato and broccoli was OK. My wife had Southern Trout which did not taste right, but the broccoli was OK. The Baked Apple Dumplin was covered with Pecan Streusel and Premium Vanilla Bean Ice Cream n’ Apple Topping. I have to say it was good and a big portion for only $ 4. This is the only time that I can remember when we did not finish our meal. The table was sticky and was wet when we sat down. The staff was friendly as well and as always at Cracker Barrel, the bill was not that much.

Always love the food at Cracker Barrel. It’s unfortunate that we usually end up going at the busiest times. The seating always seems cramped and uncomfortable when they are busy and the wait is long. The food can sometimes be hit and miss – sometimes mediocre and sometimes wonderful. Still, for the most part, home-​cooking without the bother!

Always a nice place to stop while on the road! The staff is pleasant! Many choices ! Eggs are a little cold and gam sausage was over cooked ! Grits and gravy were small portions ! Meal with oj was $ 11.24 ! Still nice not perfect! But the only perfect breakfast is at home! This did the trick !

Don’t let those 3 stars fool you. I have to be fair. It’s not all about my food but the food of those I was with. It was also about our server.
Our server was John. John was a fabulous server. He;s one of those people who can turn a bad meal into a better experience. One of the dinners ordered from our table was the 4 vegetable platter which was very good. Another meal was the Chicken and noodles dinner. It was also very good.
However, I ordered the pecan crusted catfish. I’ve had this meal at other Cracker Barrels. Here it was totally different. It was absolutely the worst catfish I’ve ever had. The pecans weren’t just cut pieces of pecan. It almost looked like pecan dust and it was only on one side. That wasn’t even the worst part. I couldn’t decide at first whether the catfish was under cooked by the texture or whether it was so smothered in oil or marmalade that it turned the meat soggy. I was awful. I couldn’t eat it. There was no texture to the meat. Terrible. For the catfish alone even a one star rating would be too much.
We’re thinking it just might be time to stop eating at Cracker Barrels. They are so inconsistent.

Received a gift card to Cracker Barrel for my birthday and decided to use it earlier today to try out the food since I haven’t eaten here. Got a menu online and placed my ordered over the phone. I don’t know whether it was the background noise that was making it difficult for the person to hear my order or my name which I had to repeat several times. I got so frustrated on repeating name over and over that I spelled it out phonetically.
When I got to the restaurant to pick up my order, I was a little confused on how to enter the restaurant since the sign outside said it was their country store, so I walked out and thought there was a separate entrance, I almost made it to the back of the restaurant when I thought to myself I should ask the country store workers where the entrance to the restaurant is, to my surprise I was greeted by the greeter and that’s when I knew I was in the right place. She pointed me to the counter after I stated that I was picking up a phone order. The cashier attended to me right away, found my order which had a wrong spelling for my name, paid for my food and was asked whether I wanted to leave a tip from my gift card, I didn’t know there was a tip involved in phone orders. Waited around for about 15 minutes until my food arrived to the counter, got my food, noticed my name was spelled wrong (after even phonetically spelling it on the phone) and left.
I got home and ate my food because I was hungry and it was my first meal of the day. My food was cold, the steak fries and biscuits were not warm at all, I am gonna give them some benefit of the doubt because it was a little chilly outside and drizzling, but then again I live about 10 mins from this CB so my food couldn’t have gotten cold that quick. I ordered the deep fried farm raised catfish and it was delicious, the biscuits and fries were ok, would have been better if they were still a little warm.
I gave them 4 stars because i enjoyed the food and the semi-​service was decent, I took away a star because of the misspelling of my name after repeating and spelling it several times.

I wish I could give this place 6 stars! I haven’t been to a Cracker Barrel in a long time and this one lived up to my every expectation after so many years. It was busy but we were seated immediately. The server was very polite. The food was amazing. Country fried steak breakfast for dinner. The eggs were cooked perfectly. They brought extra biscuits, extra gravy, and enough grits to go around. I highly recommend trying this place if you haven’t yet.

Went here for dinner and the food was mediocre which is a shame because we love Cracker Barrel. Our waitress was a smarty pants and never asked us if we wanted a refill or biscuits. So after asking for biscuits myself she comes back with four and three jelly (ok, fine) but then our meal comes that is supposed to come with more biscuits and she brought none so i politely asked for more for my husband and I– she comes back with a new plate of four and throws them on top of our old biscuit plate that we had placed our trash on just as rude as she could. Our biscuits were little sitting on top of trash. Never asked/​bought jelly or butter. Never asked if we needed more water. And on top of it made smart remarks throughout our dinner. Will NOT be returning to this location i rather make the extra drive. She’s lucky she got anything for a tip.

Great service and great food. This particular Crack-​her-​barrel attracts all the suburban/​country folk around. After a rough night of work there is no better place than homestyle soul food. Comfort and pleasure all in one for anyone to enjoy!

Good service and breakfast is always great. Ham is very salty though. The lunches as far as steak and chicken could be better. Most of the time it is stiff/​too chewy, little dry. But still not bad.
The shop is great here. Great variety of products.

This was my first time visiting a Cracker Barrel. My sister loves it, but I thought it was just pretty good. My food tasted ok, but it was a little dry for my taste. I love macaroni & cheese – I could pretty much eat it all day, everyday – but this one wasn’t that good. I really didn’t want to finish it.
Our server was very good. She was friendly and checked on us frequently. She was quick to return with our requests and drink refills. So the service was definitely the best.

Meeeh… Not a great visit. As always the place was packed to the hilt but we were seated at a large table almost immediately. We had a group of about 6 – 7 people from work that afternoon. Some of us wanted breakfast, some lunch, and we received menus for both.
I didn’t see any skillets on the breakfast menu so I decided on Chicken & Dumplings for lunch along with Fried Okra and Broccoli for my sides. My problem with the meal was that it was only lukewarm. The gravy on my C&D had settled and was almost stiff, and both the okra and broccoli were approaching room temp as well. I think the problem really was just the way they were doing things. Looking back on it, my plate was probably prepared first, however instead of bringing it out, they let it sit in the back until the other meals were ready. Then it arrived at the table second to last.
I’ve gotta say that I’ve had much better meals at this location. So chalk up one loss for Cracker Barrel. I’ll wait six months and try them again.

Great spot for a quick lunch special! Wednesday is chicken pot pie day for $ 5.99, which includes a free biscuit and corn bread (I recommend two biscuits instead!). The pot pie is a generous size and has a flavorful filling with plenty of chicken and veggies and a yummy top crust. My meal came within five minutes of ordering, so it’s obviously pre-​made/​prepared but that’s perfectly fine with me when I’m on my lunch break.
Lots of seating here and very friendly service. A bit overly friendly, as every single worker greets

Smitty and Jessica will take care of you so if possibly request their section. Once your done don’t forget the old school sweets on sale as well as lots of other items !!
