I’m a tough critic, so 4 stars is pretty good. Tried the sausage sammy based on a reco. SUPER tasty, right amount of giardiniera, and the fresh white bread soaked up the juices. House made chips were a great add. I ate there, a little smokey, couldn’t find a table that wasn’t wonky. Guys working the joint seemed cool. Definitely will be back.

If/when I give a place five stars, I do it because the service, menu and the ambience are all top notch — and in the case of Andorka’s, all this is absolutely true! I had the Goat sandwich which has braised goat leg, stewed tomatoes and the poblano sour cream. The bread was fresh, and super soft. The goat meat was so tender and succulent, I could cry. The poblano sour cream adds the perfect acidic zing to the sandwich. My sandwich was paired with beautifully pickled pickle spear and homemade chips which were, to my delight, not overly salted. Upon my return, I picked up a Tempeh sandwich. Now, let me tell you, I’m a carnivore, so tempeh is not my style. I bought this because I’ve been striving to add more vegetarian/vegan foods into my regular diet. My, my, was I pleasantly surprised — this sandwich was absolutely delicious! The arugula and the miso add just the perfect peppery touch to the sandwich! This time my food was paired with the egg salad with pickled onion which is SOSUPERGOOD, and their wonderful pickle spear! The ambience is delightful — warm and vintage-inspired. And the people are just so absolutely warm and friendly! I love this place — it’s far away, but I keep dreaming of going back! If definitely recommend it — two thumbs up!!!

Great Saturday Brunch! Fantastic breads but also has gluten free options. Best sandwich place. Great vibe. Build your own BYOB with Bloody Mary fixins bar. Also home made potato chips. A Pilsen must try!

Had the roast beef sandwich and homemade chips. Both were delicious. The sandwiches are simple, yet delicious due to their fresh ingredients and homemade touch. Coworker had the turkey, and she was equally as pleased. Great local place, definitely will be back.

This place is sort of nearby UIC, and I stopped by once to chase my curiosity. Oftentimes the train of thought leaves without me after I read the name of a Chicago foodie spot on one of those convenient internet blog lists. I attempt to commit the name of a place by memory, and alas, it alludes me until I run into it on another foodie list. I wasn’t going to let that happen this time. I passed by the hipster-looking sandwich shop a few times on my path down Halsted, and one day I made a full U-turn to pay this shop a visit. Within 15 minutes my face was in a fresh roast beef sandwich. All of the ingredients were home/handmade, including *gasp* the potato chips you can ask to include inside the sandwich. I’m sold. I feel like I’m being a jerk for putting four stars, as I can’t quite explain why they don’t deserve the fifth star. I don’t know. The sandwich was pretty small, especially the amount of meat. It’s not conveniently walkable to and sort of out of the way from UIC or the West Loop neighborhood. And the place itself lacked… character/atmosphere. Like, Potbelly’s is a franchise, yes, but when you walk in there’s energy and presence. The story was empty around the weekday lunch hour when I popped in. I will give them props on the décor. It looks like a parody of a hipster sandwich place, and that’s not an insult.

Full disclosure. I like sandwiches. The sandwiches at this shop are made of premium sandwich. For my first sandwich I chose the turkey sandwich. What a sandwich! Second sandwich was beet sandwich. Delicious sandwich. Sandwiches are primarily made with sandwich ingredients that are great. The soups are killer and basically everything is made fresh from good ingredients. can’t really go wrong.

Wonderful sandwich shop. Would have given five stars but knocked on off for the price. For soup, regular sized sandwich, and small coleslaw, it was about $ 18. The sandwich was amazing. Had the braised goat leg. Wonderful. The bread was definitely home made. Unique if you ask me. Tomatoes soup was simple and very comforting. The closlaw had a chop that was a little big in my opinion, but was fresh and also home made. Overall it will be a place I go back too. Ambiance is very interesting with various vintage items and furniture. Relaxed.

Stopped in for lunch today and ordered the Tempeh sandwich and chips. The whole grain bread was the best part! The sandwich tasted very fresh, but I would have liked another sauce on it besides the cream cheese to add more flavor. The cream cheese was also very thick in some places and not in others. The chips were good, but very, very greasy. Much more so than in the picture another user posted. I will be back to try again and update once I try more of the menu.

Very cozy sandwich shop. I felt like I was sitting at a relative’s house eating. Friendly staff. I had the turkey sandwich. They bake their own bread… delicious! They also put tomato-mayo on the turkey sandwich. That made it even more delicious. I will definitely be back.

I had the Turley sandwich with an extra side of the tomato mayonnaise — it was super fresh and tasty. I also ordered their chips and got the green goddess dip(amazing). I will definitely be going back soon :)

Cute little sandwich shop. Very tasty homemade sandwiches and bread. I have tried all sandwiches, they are all good. I love their yogurt and their side salad with dressing is to die for!!! The owners are very sweet and personable. They even let me put my flyers in their place for my business!!! Only downfall is they are not open late, but it is well worth getting there before they close. The décor is really cute too.

What an amazing sandwich shop! Went last night for the first time and had the popular turkey sandwich with cucumber, arugula, provolone, and easily subbed stone ground mustard for mayo. The homemade whole-grain bread was thick and delicious, similar to hearty Amish-style bread. Sandwich came with a side of thin, homemade potato chips. Ask to add the sour cream and onion dip, which is also homemade and ADDICTIVE. I’ll definitely be returning — next time to try the classic BLT! Love that they use high-quality, homemade ingredients. Affordable and large portions. I really hope this place sticks around!

Love this sandwich shop. I discovered them at The Renegade Pop-Up and finally made my way to their store front — all 3 kids in tow. Get the picnic combo, comes with everything you need. We ordered the BLT(special of the day) and Cured. Didn’t leave any crumbs — that good. I especially love the home-baked bread, it was still warm. Chips are delicious — grab a bag for home. Self serve beverage station. Today’s water was Lemon-Thyme. Don’t let the other reviews discourage you. The guy who said he paid $ 18 for his sandwich — WTF did he order? They are about $ 7/sandwich. The review about the«pretty weird experience» — let’s review the food here, not the people. You get my point, right? Andorka’s serves good simple sandwiches on homemade bread and makes their own potato chips — if that’s enough to lure you in, then go ahead and move on…

Parked across from my usual car wash making a phone call and noticed this sandwich across the street. Made it over and ordered a roast beef with a side salad. The softness of the bread and you can taste the freshness also, the simple side salad was wonderful. You can see they put their heart in it, great place !

I paid $ 18.50 for a sandwich consisting of basic grocery store wheat bread and a single slice of protein. Upon getting home they forgot my pickle. Absolutely furious. Would never go here. Could produce higher quality at home for under $ 3.00.

I’m really torn over this place. More of a 3.5 star review. On one hand, I had been anxiously tracking its arrival on social media. I’d been waiting for it to open for months because I live so close by and we need a few good grab-and-go food options. I really appreciate that these folks make their stuff in-house and are obviously concerned about ingredient quality. On the other hand, it’s just a sandwich. If I went to whole foods, I could buy these same, kinda frou-frou ingredients, and have me a similar sandwich. It’s not a particularly large sandwich either. PLus they close at 5. I would definitely patronize this place more if they were open for dinner. The chips are especially good, but not enough that I’d go out of my way to come here. Overall, I just don’t know if this place is *special* enough to survive. I hope it is, but I don’t think it will be.

I went here on a whim, I was walking to David’s grill up the block decided to check out this place instead. Ordered a goat sandwich and a coffee. It was a pretty weird experience, the cashier guy was clearly out of it. Sort of cliché coffee sanford and son type music playing. The guy who was making the sandwiches was nice, the other one was operating on a delay. They serve dark matter coffee which is great. I pumped it out of an urn myself. Ok. Once I got home and checked out the sandwich I was really bummed. It was straight up on sandwhich bread, not the thick nice one pictured in another review. The meat had a good flavor but there was an overpoweringly salty spread on the bread. I ate half and threw the rest away. Check out David’s Grill instead. Half the price, bigger portions, neighborhood folk.

Great addition to the neighborhood. Sandwiches on home made bread, fresh made potato chips, dips. Veggie options, and everything from ham and cheese to braised goat.
