Terrible terrible terrible terrible. We ordered carryout. Got home and we were terribly disappointed. My boyfriend got a Mac and cheese, but it literally was a side order of Mac and cheese. I got the grilled cheese and fries… not that great either. Very disappointed with this place. I never really like bakers square. Today I decided to try it again, but this really topped it. Also seems like the staff isn’t well trained. Likely due to poor management. Kinda shocked they are still in business here.

I used to go to this location for every holiday for pies, NEVERAGAIN! I placed an order for Easter the day before. The girl that answered the phone was very unprofessional and sounded as if she was high. She answered the phone as if it were her cell phone and not a business number. I had to ask her if it was Bakers Square on Harlem & Foster, because she simply said hello… Then I place my order with her. I placed my order and pickup for 10am. She says ok got it and was saying bye. She didn’t even tell me a total, and when I asked for it she said to hold on I didn’t even input it. She took a while and I’m pretty sure I heard her giggling in the background. She finally got back on and gave me a total. Easter day I have my bf go pick up the order at about 10:30am, because I figured they would be busy so to get there early. He gets there and they say they have no order for me. I told him to double check and speak with the manager. He did and the manager says they can’t do anything for us now. Are you kidding me? I placed my order in advance, I didn’t wait to just show up and see! I told him he better figure it out because they were specially ordered for certain people. I had to confirm everything I did with the manager. He asked for when I exactly called and if I even called the right location. When I was reading back the number I called and explained that I even checked with the girl on the phone the location, the manager was still hesitant. He was still hesitant to give us the order! It took about an hour of this BS until he finally gave us our order. Not even a discount for time and frustration, not even an apology! Needless to say, this location needs serious improvement with employees and management! I will never return to this location, I would rather drive a half hour out of my way to another one!

I’d like to say it was a better experience last night than the visit I wrote about 6 months ago, but I can’t. We stopped in for a late dinner after running errands after work. I ordered a cup of the cream of broccoli soup and a «well done» tuna melt. My wife just wanted some eggs. Over medium eggs came out very over easy, not even close to being partially set as OM eggs are supposed to be. The link sausages, ordered well done, were very tough –having been cooked in the deep fryer instead of on a grill. The well done Tuna Melt wasn’t, it looked like it spent very little time on the grill. The server being pleasant was the only saving grace. My previous review stands, get your act together.

I came with a group of 16 people last week to celebrate Pi Day at this location. The staff was welcoming and made us feel like we were not an inconvenience. We had one waitress for our group. She was not polished but was very nice. She tried to make us as comfortable as possible. Our food came out quickly, and it was reasonably priced. I took a start off due to some errors with the pies. Some people in our party were given the wrong pie. In my case, I ordered the caramel apple sundae. I just received a piece of apple pie. The waitress took it back when she realized her error, but It definitely felt disorganized. I also got the impression that the staff was not ready for the crowds that would be coming that day for pies. As we were leaving, they were virtually out of pie and turning people away. This is something they need to keep in mind for the future.

Oh, Bakers Square. Stop paying people to write these fabulous reviews. You’re service speaks for itself.

My husband and I stopped in for a quick bite to eat. He ordered the breakfast special and I ordered a BLT no mayo. We noticed there was only a cashier/hostess and two waitresses. Later on we saw a busboy. The restaurant was quite crowded, especially for a Sunday night. Our food took quite a long time to arrive at our table. I picked up the toast to make sure the mayo had been omitted, and much to my dismay what was suppose to be «6 pieces of bacon» was possibly two slices that were crumbled into very small pieces. Our waitress was attentive, but definitely overwhelmed. When she didn’t come back to the table, my husband got up and spoke with her. She went in the kitchen and came out about 10 minutes later with a new sandwich. The second one was much better with full bacon slices. My side was a fruit cup. Unfortunately, about 40% of the grapes were soft or rotting, and the melon not the greatest. I had water and my hubby a Dr. Pepper. My husband’s pancakes were golden brown on one side and completely white and under done on the other. Our bill was $ 23.00 without tip. Very disappointed with the quantity and quality of food. We definitely won’t be going back. I think they are fortunate they are pretty much the only restaurant in this area, or they probably would have had to close their doors long ago.

I went to this bakers square on Saturday, November 7th, 2015. Firstly, let me start by saying that my daughter, mother and myself frequent bakers square every Saturday, however this is our first time going to this specific location, store # 658. So if your a minority or specifically African American I wouldn’t go here unless you want to get horrible service. Our dining experience started by the assistant manager attempting to seat us in the back near the restrooms, in which we noticed that’s where the other African American patrons were sitting, I asked the assistant manager, do you have any seats over there(pointing to the bigger dining area), he looked at me as if annoyed and replied«sure» dryly. We didn’t say anything about it we just continued on with our lunch. So our server whom is white comes and takes our order, he repeated our order 3 times to us. After waiting what seemed like an hour, we noticed our white server was asking all his other tables if they needed anything, bringing them their food, and being courteous as a waiter should. However, the server never came back to our table at all after taking our order. I saw the assistant manager walking pass and I asked him, do you know how much longer our food will be? He went to check and immediately brought it out to us, which further tells me the meal was ready, the server just didn’t bring it to our table. My mother meal wasn’t correct and we had no napkins during our entire meal. At this point I’m fed up, I spoke with the assistant manager and told him I think their is some racism going on here, in which I don’t tolerate. I told the assistant manager that my mothers order was wrong and told him I wanted the check, store number, and to speak with the general manager. The assistant manager brought back everything I requested. Now, we’re speaking with the general manager, I disclose to her all the above information and she’s nice yet tries to make it seem like racism wasn’t the case and more so tried to blame the server as just being«bad» and not understanding the job. The general manager nearly begged us to pay for our meal however I politely declined and explained to her, I don’t need a free meal, I insist that I pay for our meal and this is about the way in which we were treated and the poor service. I stated sternly once more that I don’t want or need her to take care of our bills, she insisted we take a free pie, I accepted the pie to suffice her however I paid our dining bill for our meal. I told her that I would be calling corporate to complain, and informed her that we will not be back to this location again. She asked us to try that location again, I gracefully declined. I paid for our meal and we left the establishment.

I have been going to this Baker’s Square for over 20 years. It used to be my favorite spot for breakfast, but it had really gone down hill over the years. I had such high hopes for this place after their most recent remodeling. I was so happy to see that they were finally turning around. Well, the hubby and I went there the other morning for breakfast, and sad to say… this place has NOT changed! Aside from fixing up the outside, all they did was slapped a coat of paint over the same old nasty ceiling and called it good. The cleaning practices are worse than ever. The window sill right next to the booths was covered with a thick layer of dust. It looked like they hadn’t cleaned it in weeks. The window had greasy finger prints smeared all over it. Worse, was our waiter whose shirt was FILTHY! It looked like he had been in a food fight it was so dirty. Finally, and this was the last straw… I could see into the kitchen from my seat and not one, but two of the servers were putting their dirty thumbs on the pieces of pie that they were serving to customers. They would slide the spatula under the slice of pie, then use their dirty thumb to push the piece of pie onto the plate. NASTY!!! This place is a dump and a health hazard.

I’ve recently rediscovered Bakers Square. Okay… maybe not really rediscovered, but decided to try it again after not visiting for a few years. This location has been remodeled and the menu seems revamped. Lots of selections, but it was nice to see that they still had some of the classics. Nice place to sit down and have a good meal then end it all with a nice piece of pie.

Was disappointed today with my dining experience at Baker’s Square. My honey mustard salad was not good. Some of the lettuce was wilted beyond its time. The chicken was a very small portion and was a frozen breaded patty. The only thing that was good was the corn bread side. I will pass on the salads and stick to the pie… Staff was very pleasant.

Baker’s Square is known for their pies, right? So, calling on the phone to ask the price for a piece of pie, I did not expect to be met with stammering and silence. Pies are there moneymaker, I would think. Anyway, my dad loved the pie. Go Hawks!

I’ve never really been drawn to Baker’s Square, but my wife wanted to go there for Mother’s Day. Very good stuff. Here’s why – 1) SELECTION&PORTIONS — They really have a wide variety of very good food. Something I liked was that they offered a reduced portion size called«just right» and they knock a couple dollars off your order to eat what a normal person should eat anyway. 2) CORRECTIONOFORDER — My pregnant wife forgot to ask for something removed from her salad in order to keep it pregnancy-safe. We offered to purchase the meal that we messed up on, but our waiter just said it was OK and quickly brought us back the same meal without feta cheese. 3) JUSTSPECIAL — This place is very comfortable and cozy. They gave flowers to all the mothers on Mother’s Day. They gave my daughter a pack of crayons and coloring sheets right away, and all the staff were friendly. Definitely a heavily Caucasian crowd, so don’t come here to meet a cross-section of Chicago’s ethnic diversity. But for good ol’ American cooking and a place with good hospitality, stop in and eat.

Reasonably priced meals. MOSTLY… a very kind, polite and fast wait staff. A few of the waitresses leave you in the corner and forget about you, which is frustrating. Especially when you ask for crackers for the soup and she never brings them back. Don’t ask us if there is anything you can do if you aren’t going to do it! POSITIVES: Free pie Wednesday. Huge comfortable seating. When you order coffee they leave a pot on the table so you don’t have to wait for re-fills. They are very kid friendly, teenage friendly, young adult friendly, regular adult friendly and senior citizen friendly(MOST of the staff) We were there for breakfast one time, and the waitress took her break so she could drive a regular customer home because she did not want the elderly lady slipping or falling in the snow. Really very commendable great service. Food is very good too!

Free pie Wednesdays for the win! Not gourmet food, but decent for a great price. I love the rise and shine breakfast plate that they serve all day. It comes with eggs, hash browns, and choice of fruit or toast/english muffin. It’s the perfect amount to not fill you up too much for that slice of pie. You also can’t beat that the plate is under $ 6! I’ve tried many of their pies but my favorites are the cream cheese apple and the caramel pecan silk. Yum!

I really don’t get it. When I go here I like it. For some reason I usually forget about Bakers! I did the usual, where do I want to go? Then as I was driving home, there it was! To make the deal even sweeter it was free pie day. Woo hoo ! I decided to get breakfast. Eggs sunnyside up, english muffin with grape jelly, bacon well done and fruit. I know they were just usual eggs but they really hit the spot. Server was nice and attentive, coffee was good and you get your own pot on the table. I took the coconut cream slice home. When I got home I put my PJs on and layed in bed, watched tv and ate the pie. Does it get any better? Okay, having the next day off would be nice but…

I love pie, there I said it… I am determined to make all associates of mine love pie too, therefore I ALWAYS suggest pie places as to not feel like the only fat@$$ hog all the time… BS is the Pie super highway, at least in Chicago it is, for me. BS has something called the chicken stir-fry pita, if you’ve never had it, get it, then order the triple-berry pie warmed w/ice cream, then tell me you still don’t like the place. Places like this and basically all«breakfast all day» places, you gotta find the consistent dish you like & stick to it. The fruit pies are actually better than any of the cream pies, you just have to have them heated with ice cream, duh.

Don’t judge. I grew up on Bakers Square. Both sisters worked at my suburban outpost location in high school so I have fond memories of chain smoking Marlboro Lights in the back while gulping down diet Coke and Oreo pie. Again, don’t judge. I was 17-years-old. The truth of the matter is I always enjoy my meal far more than I should at any Bakers Square. The tuna melt is never a let down. I always order it with a side of honey mustard that I’m convinced is laced with crack it’s so good. I unabashedly dunk my sandwich in it along with pretty much anything else on my plate. BS always has some kind of meal deal where you can get ½ a sandwich, cup of soup, side salad and a slice of pie for something ridiculous like $ 9. I mean, seriously… so cheap. Really, though, it’s all about the pies. You can’t go wrong. I’m a slave to the Oreo, but the Peanut Butter Cup is nothing to shake a fist at. You don’t really want to admit how good the pies are because of all the amazing bakeries and such in Chicago, but for reals… the pie is the shizz. I’m also consistently impressed with the diet Coke at Bakers Square. It always has the perfect amount of carbonation. Sounds silly, but it’s important. This location loses a star for lousy service. Slower than molasses and inattentive, but it certainly won’t stop me from coming back.
