Bolton’s

I had high hopes for this Bolton’s based on my shopping experience at Bolton’s NYC last year. At the last minute, I decided to buy a new dress to attend a Broadway matinée later that day. Conveniently located downstairs from my hotel in Grand Central Station, I found many quality, odd, and reasonably priced options there. This weekend, off to Wabash I went. While dragging at least 10 pieces on my arm, I asked a young «sales person» if the store had a shopping cart. She said no and after I stared at her for a few seconds, she asked if she could start a dressing room for me. While in the dressing room, I encountered the male companion of another shopper in the dressing area. The same aloof «sales person» ignored my concern. As long as TJMaxx and Burlington Coat Factory are next door, it is very unlikely I will be back to this store.

Whatever you do be super careful and diligent about trying everything on prior to purchase. I purchased a top and went to return it. They said there are absolutely no returns allowed on clearance items. I looked around and at least 75% of the store was on clearance. Not 50 or 75% off either. More like 25 or 30. Also, you only have 15 days to return full price merchandise! What a ripoff. Some good buys but definitely one of the worst return policies ever. Don’t take a chance that something might fit if you have a short lunch and can’t try items on. Go to TJ Maxx or Burlington. To add insult to injury, I stood in line behind one other customer while one of the sales girls sat on a chair staring out into space next to the registers and never offered to help. The one that waited on me was rude, unpoised and didn’t apologize for any of the inconvenience. Go elsewhere!

Old Pay Half now Bolton’s, a store I recall seeing in my travels on the east coast. Saw a great dress at another Bolton’s location. Size 4, (yeah, right) so ventured into this location today. There it was, an absolutely gorgeous day to cocktail hour frock that fit like a dream (in my size). $ 39.99 but, I would have paid $ 300 for it. So perfect. Stunning fitted little number in an expensive fabric. Madmen style sheath. Asked if they could get it in another color and expected discount store blah attitude. Instead they ALL were amazingly helpful and nice. 3 women all involved in trying to make me happy. That makes a customer for life — some of the big dog stores should take note! Staff is extra super here. Give them a visit, poke around the racks and you might get lucky like I did.
