Chef Sean did another great tasting menu tonight. And the staff just makes the night a great experience

I had Chef Sean’s tasting menu on its inaugural night and it was fantastic! My second visit was just as pleasing. The 12 course menu is deliberately balanced with taste and textures. Add another level to your experience with the wine pairing. Erin was our server, and her knowledge of Chef Sean Welker’s menu and the accompanying wine added to the evening. I would suggest a visit to Coconutz as a great after work meal.

Really nice staff. Drinks are too sweet and not balanced with enough citrus. The décor is fun, but I don’t understand why they don’t call themselves a tiki bar when it is exactly that. Nothing to be ashamed of. Surprisingly they had Ardbeg, but that was the only decent scotch they had, and they dug it out from the basement. Lucky me! The happy hour food was very tasty. Would definitely come back for that. I think the name is silly if they don’t bill themselves as a tiki bar… maybe someone in marketing at corporate needs to go back to marketing class 101. Seriously, the décor is made of real coconuts and bamboo… and the specialty seems to be rum-​based drinks. Just go with it!

Went here for my first time tonight. My boyfriend and I sat at the bar and had a couple drinks. I ordered the Dr. Funk, which was a perfect cocktail for the setting, very fruity rum drink. The atmosphere is super chill & the place has a cool look. I love love the cloud lights. The décor is tiki style but not too kitschy. The best part of our experience was the music they were playing. It created a great ambiance. Will definitely be returning soon.

My husband and I went here for a drink and were extremely pleasantly surprised! Not only did we have a couple of very good cocktails, we then decided to have a few bites to eat too.
The place has been redone very nicely. I had been in the previous place once and it wasn’t anything like what it is today! If they opened before 4pm I would certainly take my laptop in there to work on email correspondence during a quiet afternoon.
The bartender was great — very friendly, knowledgeable and seemed genuinely happy to be there. The service was great too — everyone was friendly and also seemed happy!
But now, the cocktails: I liked the Thai One On and I’m not normally a gin drinker. In fact, I liked it so much I had a second one! My husband first tried the Bushwacker, which he liked then I believe he ordered another frozen drink but we can’t remember what it was — he did say he should have stuck with the Bushwacker…
For bites to eat: The lemongrass pork meatballs were awesome and my favorite. My husband really liked the bacon-​wrapped shishito peppers. We both enjoyed the abodo beef. I would have ordered another plate of the meatballs for dessert if I wasn’t already full!
We will be returning!

Do not ever go here. I can’t talk too much right now because I am seriously in pain with burning poop coming out of my ass in another restaurant’s bathroom. I was at the restaurant about 30 minutes ago and (although the people are freakin’ fantastic!), the chef has no idea what the fuck he (or she) is doing. More to come.

Don’t be fooled by the «z» in the name! I walked in expecting to find a grimy dive bar but was pleasantly surprised to find a classy, beach-​themed lounge. Service was excellent – fast and attentive, and our server, Sloan, couldn’t have been friendlier. The drinks were tasty and reasonably priced. Will definitely be back to fight off the Chicago winter with the warmth and hospitality of Coconutz!

Really awesome drinks! Try the Cantaro with Mezcal — really delicious! They just opened so not a lot of people inside.

I live around the corner of this neighborhood and its hard to find something I really enjoy. Stopped by randomly here to see if it was open and glad I came by. The staff was so welcoming and nice. The drinks were on point and reasonable price. Noah was cool (bartender).
All of sudden we got hungry. So we ordered some ‘bites’ and by bites they really mean one bite. Spring rolls were overwhelmed with mint, the chicken was missing the curry flavor and the fish said it’d be served on a toast, you would think crunchy but the bread was soggy.
