The drinks are delicious. I only had the martinis(Whisky A-Go-Go, Cosmo, and Red Raspberry), so my views are limited; however, this place is quite nice. It has a very homey, down-to-earth feel about it. There was one bartender and she came to table delivering the drinks promptly. She was kind and was always ready with a recommendation. I highly suggest it if you’re looking to sit down with friends and have a drink. Don’t go there to dance or anything like that despite there being good music playing.

Franks used to be the best. However, the last few times have been horrible. I got a drink then had to wait 62 minutes to be asked for another. That would be fine, but the bartender had the audacity to say she came up to me multiple times to see if I wanted another drink. She was lying and basically said I was lying. I didn’t even want restitution; just an acknowledgement of service rendered. I really hope it improves because it used to be awesome. There’s much more competition in the area now, and that’s a good thing.

The atmosphere here is great, and the service is decent. I just can’t get over a bar that has no food…

Over the past few years, Frank’s has had a definite shift for the better. Early in the evening, it’s a chill neighborhood hangout. Late at night, it’s crowded but energetic. Whenever I’m doing the Clark St. corridor, I like to start here. And sometimes I end here too. Either way, I’m sure I’ll be back.

Very warm and inviting dive bar. The bartender was so nice and the owner was sitting at the bar on Christmas Eve and bought the whole bar a shot. Everyone was super friendly and I love that they are open later than most bars. I would definitely recommend checking this place out if you are ever in Chicago!

Franks is a fun little bar. No frills, good pours, attentive bartenders. I’d go back.

I tend to avoid bars in the Lincoln Park area for various reasons, but Frank’s bar exceeded my expectations. Everyone was respectful and the drinks were reasonably priced. I’d definitely go back sometime when I don’t feel like making the trek to Boystown or Logan Sq… or paying the ridiculous cover charges at Neo!

This place doesn’t even deserve 1 star but there is no option for zero stars. The female bar tender working on 5⁄24 was the worst bar tenter in the history of tending bars. Kind of a douchy staff all around but she was the worst. Not sure if she was drinking or what she was thinking! She seemed pretty buzzed. There was hardly anyone at this bar when we rolled in 14 deep dressed up to the 9’s after a wedding around 12:30am. Most were out of town guests visiting Chicago for this wedding. Of all of us dancing and having a great time, 2 of the guys were sitting at the bar talking and one of them started to get a bit sleepy. He wasn’t doing anything offensive. The guy is the nicest guy in the world, doesn’t even cuss. He was quietly sitting and chatting with his brother when the bar tender lady decided he was over served and should be kicked out because«his eyes were closing» supposedly. Instead of saying«do you need a glass of water?» Or another way to perk him up, she decided the right thing to do was kick him out. Of course all of us also left with him and went down the street to spend our money elsewhere. Horrible place. Horrible staff. Avoid by all costs.

Oh Franks. Great bar with daily $ 3 booze specials! You are always there for me after I get off work late night. & your staff are all fantastic– especially Sean the bartender who’s a tall drink of water with curly hair. Don’t go changing.

You gotta love a down-to-earth homey bar smack in the middle of annoying Lincoln Park. Seems like it’s frequented by a lot of regulars, at least during the week and on Saturday afternoon, which are the two times I was there. But I didn’t get an unfriendly vibe from anyone, especially the very cool female bartender.

What’s not to like about this place? Open till 5a on Sat. Check. Interesting crowd. Check. Solid music choice — a little bit for everyone. Check. Booths to sit at(if you are lucky enough to snag one). Check. Friendly staff who checks on your regularly. Check. Clean bathrooms. Check. Reasonable drink prices. Check. Convenient location. Check. I will most definitely be back!

Used a $ 20 for $ 40 Unilocal!deal. Amazing. But this place is pretty hit & miss. Either its overly packed, or its crickets. I enjoy this bar because it is chill and the service is pretty good. The TVs always have something entertaining on. Negatives: The bathrooms are really small. Some shady people go here from time to time. Overall: it’s a good place to get drunk.

The mixed ratings sum it up– depends what night and what time you go, and what you’re looking to accomplish. To get drunk? Go for it To have a nice conversation over craft cocktails with a group larger than 2? Nope.

The staff is simply amazing. Everybody that works there goes out of their way to make sure you are taken care of any welcomed. Great for after hours, but even better before«the crowd» gets there. Keep it up!

Bookmark it and remember it for any late night. It’s one of few after hours bars in this area of the LP. 4 am bar and chances are you’ll run into a few Unilocalers as well as anyone still on the prowl. Are the two the same?.. maybe. Nightly specials including weekends. An Internet jukebox and a pretty good wait staff. Say hello to Hannah and give her a decent tip. I can count on her to secure a good pour so its natural I give her a polite plug. I like Frank’s for the above reasons, also because of the ages of people and the vibe. It’s cozy in here, so if your bringing annoying friends, check the attitudes at the door. $ 2 Sunday night cocktails and the occasional Wu-tang track on the juke, isn’t bad either.

Stephanie pretty much nailed it, they have MHL on tap(and it’s cheap) and everyone working there was cool as hell. I liked the fact that it was a smaller place, that was surrounded with larger bars or even spots that just so happen to have a bar inside. I like to look for smaller spots while on trips out of town and going back to Chicago, I’d come back to this place anytime.

Ooooooh Franks. I do love you. I truly do. I just wish that I could remember coming to visit you. I know that I did, I have a(not too bad) bill to prove it. People say that they’ve seen me there a time or two. I even knew a bartender there once upon a time. But for some strange reason, I never seem to remember coming here. Damn you, carbombs. Damn you all to Irish hell.
