The service is consistently terrible and they won’t substitute any ingredients in an attempt to nickel and dime their customers. Pizza Capri down the street is a far better bet.

Took my parents here to get some deep dish pizza while they were visiting me in Chicago. While I am 100% biased to a New York pie, the deep dish here was great, especially for a chain. Almost everyone you ask will recommend this place to get deep dish and I don’t think it disappoints. The restaurant itself was very crowded, all the tables were full and lots of people getting to go pizzas as well. The service was friendly, although they seemed a little short staffed as our waitress was the only one I saw and she had to handle a ton of tables at once. We ordered «the best» ripe tomato bruschetta as an appetizer and it was really good (see picture). For our meal we got a large «the special» deep dish pizza. The deep dish was also really good, and could easily serve 4 people as the menu states (we had a few slices leftover). Overall, this was a great place to get deep dish and I am sure I will be back in the future for more deep dish and to try other things on their menu.

See, the pizza itself is BOMB. The breading is not crumbly/​crispy like pie, it has a more gentle pull off dough with some some infused butter that is tasty to the tongue! The cheese is also different from other deep dish (see my video!)
The only downside of this location is the service. They seem a little bothered being there. You decide if you want that to alter your experience!

I’ve had a lot of stuffed pizza throughout Chicago, but Giordano’s is still my favorite. Deep dish pepperoni is my favorite!

I’ve been coming here for 15 years. After today never again. I ordered a Lg spinach at 12:17 pm. I was told it would be ready in 45 mins. I arrived at 1 to pickup. It wasn’t ready. I kept being told a few more minutes. At 2pm I was livid. I asked for manager. I explained to him it’s almost 2 hours and no pizza. He tells me order wasn’t put in until 1:30. So it wasn’t late. I’m looking at this man like really? I show him my cellphone log.12;17 clear as day. He tells me that I may have placed the order at 12:17 but it wasn’t put in then. He was literally going back and forth with me. How dare he try to make this my fault. Clearly your kitchen screwed up or your order takers. I was told 45 mins, not 45 minutes after we decide to put it in. He drops $ 5 in my hand as a comp and that’s it? I’m done!!! order-​takers all standing around looking stupid it was just ridiculous. and the pizza wasn’t hot!!!

Pizza was not good. Service was actually ok though despite all the reviews. The skimped out on the sausage and spinach toppings tho. Pizza price not worth it.

Pizza, good. Service, good. Biggest problem, no beer. Either bring your own or go elsewhere. They must have lost their liquor license. Sign on the door says «We ID» but they have no alcohol.

Found a fly on my glass and manager proceeded to tell me that since it’s coming up on summertime, «it happens». Was very disappointed and would not recommend.

This place is a must go to in chicago but I personally am not a fan of deep dish. We had the spinach artichoke and bbq chicken pizza and it was nothing special.

The pizza just isn’t that good. It often leaves you feeling a little sick in your stomach do to all the grease. It is too heavy and too greasy. For sure over rated. Plus the delivery takes forever!

I eat here frequently and recommend this location to many visitors/​neighbors. I called like I usually do for a pick up order. A young lady took my request for a medium deep dish pizza with 2-​toppings and proceeded to tell me my order will be ready in a hour. As soon as I hung up the phone I was told not to get one topping because of threat to health (allergies), so I called back and tried to change one topping. It wasn’t even 30 seconds later. The young lady told me she could not change my ingredients and also told me that I could only order another pizza and pay for both. I just wanted one pizza of my choice that I was going to pay for. This was a huge inconvenience for me and my family. We love Giordano’s pizza, our only choice, but now I think I will take my business and recommendations elsewhere. Thanks for the terrible service.

This place sucks. Giodarnos is normally such a good chain, but this branch sucks beyond belief. Typical hood attitude, no customer service and delivery times that would make a snail blush. In the last 5 orders we’ve made, all five have been wrong. Then when you call up to mention it, you’re treated like you are the problem.
If you live in the area, you may be better off eating dirt or driving to an inner city branch where people actually give a damn.
These people are idiots.

Worst customer service ever thanks to the «Assistant Manager» on duty (Hyde Park location), some short, chunky light skin guy. I’ve been coming in here with my kids for a long time usually do dine in. The waiter/​waitress always suggested to order in advance so we don’t have to wait the 45 minutes that it usually takes to make a deep dish pizza, so that’s exactly what I did… I ordered in advance with some buffalo wings and went to pick it up after 45 minutes.
Once I got there I was told the pizza and wings were not ready yet. So I requested to be seated, I had a party of 4 people… there were plenty of empty tables AVAILABLE in both Sides of the restaurant. The short chunky guy said I had to wait another 30 minutes to be seated, when I asked why so long he just simply said because there’s no tables available (hello I’m not blind). There was no people waiting but us. So ok, I said let me just take my pizza and wings to go and went to pay my bill. The wings were still not ready… it was already over 1 hour later after placing my order and my food wasn’t ready yet. I asked him whats taking so long and this is when he got crazy… he asked me with an arrogant attitude if I wanted to eat my wings RAW is fine otherwise to wait. I told him to cancel my order of wings. He made the cashier open his drawer and gave me $ 7.25 in cash, not sure how he figured out that amount. I left and called the restaurant just to find out how much were the wings, person that answered said $ 8.95 plus tax so I decided to go back and asked for the difference. There he was again with an attitude and made the same cashier open his drawer and pay me $ 1.50 more. I am sure this cashier was out of balance at the end of his shift thanks to this unprofessional and arrogant «Assistant Manager». BTW… the employees looked afraid of him. Yuck! Will never go back again to this location!!!

Giodanos is by far my favorite pizza in Chicago and I’ve ordered from the Hyde park location too many times to count, with that being said my last few experiences have been very disappointing! The lack of customer service is shockingly unexpected! I ordered a medium thin crust pizza with spices on the side and when my pizza was delivered, there weren’t any spices. I would be ok with it if it were the first time but it wasn’t. So when I call the restaurant to talk to someone about the mistake A lady answered the call. After I explain what happens she said «ok». Ok as in «Ok well?! Word to the wise good food doesn’t replace customer service.

Upon arriving to Chicago, my lyft driver told us there were more than 20 locations of Giordanos around the city, yet I always believed there was just one if not a couple. He told us to get the deep dish with green peppers or tomatoes on top so we went with the former. We figured there was plenty tomato flavoring already so we ordered that and it took about 40 minutes to make. We were happy we had lunch earlier than expected cuz it took awhile and we’d be starving. The wait actually felt like it went by fast and our waiter was so sweet.
We loved the Hyde park area and the houses felt like it was straight out of a movie. It was easily identifiable just by the sign, I thought it was a small park from a distance. I loved the whole feel of the restaurant. It felt like a 70s family diner in an old Italian American neighborhood. When we saw our pizza we just quickly indulged in it right away. The outside crust was so crunchy and loved the cheese. The bread inside was perfectly soft and I loved the peppers. I then had to take a picture and the waiter kindly took out a slice slowly while the gooey cheese stretched into our plate. The customer service was great and I loved the lemonade I ordered. Would recommend this location to anyone coming here. I enjoyed my time here as a cali native and still dream of it. We got the six slices for two people and it was more than enough. I had another slice later that night and saved the other slice and ate it two days later without refrigerating it (don’t judge) and it still tasted amazing!

We did a delivery order from this location since we wanted to stay in on Sunday night to watch football.
1) if you are not from the area at all, it’s very difficult to find a location to deliver to you.
2) it’s a standard at least 1 hour wait for your food.
3) kudos to the delivery guy for having plates/​silverware
I got the chicken carbonara and had a house salad. It was delicious!!! I love that they used the big tube pasta and there was chucks of chicken and bacon. They definitely did not skimp on the bacon!!!
The boyfriend got the Northside sandwich. IT WAS MASSIVE. Legit could be two meals. It was meat baked into their pizza dough and came with parm garlic fries. He loved it!!!

Delivery took a while but we were expecting it too so we ordered well in advance of our hunger. It seems pricy but the amount of pizza you get is way more than you’d get elsewhere. Don’t complain, be an informed consumer. The wait is worth it, for sure. The super veggie was amazing!

This review is for carry-​out so your mileage may vary if you dine in. Spent about $ 25 for roughly 5# deep dish pizza. I made it through 1−1÷3 slices. Sooooo good. Melted cheese that would stretch over a foot, big chunks of sausage, slightly sweet tomato sauce and plenty of onions. «Not enough of …» was absolutely NOT heard at the table. Nice doughy crust too!
I really miss this kind of pizza living where flat pizzas with provel is the law of the land.

Giordano makes the best pizza ever! That’s not an exaggeration either! Literally, I have never tasted pizza as good as Giordano pizza. Their stuffed pizza is heavy on the dough and crunchy on the crust. On top of that, they layer the pizza with really thick flavorful sauce.
In stark contrast, their customer service usually isn’t the best. Usually, I ask for light cheese, and sometimes, they follow through. But 75% of the time, they forget. Not only that, but on two separate occasions, they completely forgot about my order, and I had to wait an extra hour to get my pizza.
But luckily, customer service varies based on location. Overall, I would give the chain 4 stars (this review is more for the chain than for the Hyde Park location), while the Hyde Park location gets only 3 stars because of customer service. If customer service were to improve, then this would truly be a solid pizza establishment.

We don’t eat pizza a lot (trying to stay healthy and all) but when we do, we order from here. The last 2 times we’ve ordered delivery, it’s been over 90 minutes to receive and the delivery drivers have been rude.
So, last night, we get it for pick up. It was ready when they said it would be ready (the phone girls are usually unprofessional, so be prepared for that). When we got it home, it wasn’t even cut correctly; the slices didn’t start in the center, so pieces aren’t even (I’m talking 3 were the entire length of the pizza and 3 were 3 inches long).
If this were dominos or pizza hut, then whatever. But when you are paying $ 30 for a pizza, then for reals… get it together. I know the south side gets screwed on having nice things (most of the time I understand why) but obviously people who can and want to drop $ 30 on one pizza and pick it up themselves, deserve a solid presentation.
