This review is in regards to tailoring, not dry cleaning. I don’t know what it is with me and polo shirts but for some reason I always have a problem with the button not wanting to stay in the button whole. I’ve thrown tons of them away over the years because of this problem and most were in nice condition other then the button not wanting to stay in its button whole thus exposing way to much upper chest(might have worked in the 70’s). A while back I was cleaning my closet and about to throw another handful of perfectly good shirts away… for the very same reason as stated above when my girlfriend suggest that maybe rather then throw them away I just have someone sew the button hole smaller. Seemed like a good idea. Since I don’t sew I decided to take a few of the shirts in to Joy Cleaners(Ashland) to have them sewn up. The lady at the counter checked with her boss to see what the cost would be. She said $ 2 per shirt(I had 2 shirts) and that they’d be ready in 2 days. Sounded like a good deal. 2 days later I come back and they aren’t ready. They say come back the next day. I come back the next day and they still aren’t ready. Then they tell me the next day. I come back the next day and finally they are ready. However when she(the boss and one that sewed them) goes to ring me up, the price has changed to $ 4 per shirt. I asked for an explanation but unfortunately the lady spoke almost no English and whatever she was trying to tell me wasn’t coming across. I went ahead and paid the money and didn’t put up any fight about the amount of time it took or the cost. I was just happy they were repaired. So over the course of the next few weeks I wore the shirts and the buttons held up wonderfully… I couldn’t have been happier with the repairs(this part they did a great job on). I figured looking back that $ 4 per shirt wasn’t that bad in the scheme of things and that it was a lot better than buying a new shirt. So I still had a remaining 4 polo’s at home that need the same work and my GF had a pair of pants that needed mending. I decided that since it was convent and they had done good work before we would use the same dry cleaner. Bad move. This time around the price was the same but the work wasn’t done on time again. No calls from the business to let us know they needed more time and no apologies when we had to make a second trip. I think what really made me upset was that when I went to pick up the clothes the lady who does the sewing was just sitting there doing nothing, then she told me the clothes weren’t ready because she had been busy. And frankly because of her lack of English it was almost impossible to complain in any way. So long story short(regarding tailoring)…the work they do is good however it takes forever and the cost may vary from what they tell you. There are a million cleaners in the city so I’d suggest you shop around!

i just had the worst experience at JOYCLEANERS. i was supposed to have 2 rips sewn on a pair of jeans, and they only sewed 1, then tried to pass off an old patch as new work trying to make me pay for it. when i refused, i was actually called a liar by the b*tch behind the counter. save your clothes!!! take them somewhere else!
