Ordered food. They did not bring out appetizer(crab rangoon) until 45 minutes later and served entrees of those seated with us before us. After 15 minutes(and lightly picking at the very unappetizing appetizer), I got up to ask waiter when our food was coming. After another 15 minutes of waiting once we were assured our food would arrive shortly, we decided to leave. I offered to pay for my $ 5 appetizer. To my surprise, waiter led me through the crowd and made me wait another 5 – 10 minutes to process my check and have me pay. I’m happy to pay for something I ordered, but it seemed like bad business to charge someone $ 5 after an hour and a half of waiting on your mistakes.

This place is very special to because I’ve been going here since I was a little kid. It a great place, I really like the tofu dishes, Peking Pork Chops, and the Fried Chicken is always good with the crispy skin without the excessive dough. I love this place

Pretty much the exact definition of average Cantonese food in Chinatown. You’ll find all the classic Chinese favorites here at good portion sizes and cheap prices but nothing is particularly amazing or terrible. The décor is not particularly good for Chinatown Square but not ugly(reminds me of nicer looking restaurants in the early 90’s). The seating isn’t extremely crowded but not super comfortable like Ming Hin. Of all my trips here, I have yet to really come across a dish that I found particularly unique or that was good enough to really motivate me to write about it immediately. If anything, the ginger and onion lobster does have a nice flavor to it with a little bit of sweetness and firm lobster meat. The honey walnut shrimp is also pretty crispy and the walnut is candied very well, although the shrimp is a bit on the soft side. Very good if you’re trying to host a banquet at a reasonable price and need to accomodate a large group but it won’t be a particularly memorable experience.

We haven’t been there for awhile. This time we went for lunch. It was good. In the past it was a hit or miss. We had the lunch special dishes and the Oysters. The Oysters were so good and fresh! Highly recommended if you love Steamed Oysters. We also had Fish with Bittermelons, Eggplants with Tofu hot pot, Beef Chow Foon, and Singapore Noodle. It was plenty of food for four. The only thing we did not like much was the Singapore Noodle. We also had Beef Chow Foon, Fried Sweet Rice, and another Rice dish of some sort. The bill came to about $ 60. Not bad for lunch for four and carryout for some more later. Recommended.

Nothing better than Chinese Christmas! My family and I were scared that the wait would be forever on Christmas Day but Lee Wing never lets me down. The place was packed but they still seated us in less than 5 minutes. The food is delicious as usual. Family style servings ranging from typical American stomach friendly fare like sweet n sour chicken and potstickers. But they also have some yummy authentic dishes like spicy and salty smelt and lobster dishes. Open late night as well.

Go for lunch! There’s a $ 6 special with a meal and an egg roll. The food is good, the service is good. The ambiance leaves a lot to be desired, but if you’re looking for a quick and delicious Chinese lunch, this is the place to go.

We were so hungry that we didn’t have a chance to review any restaurants we just walked in. We ordered Orange chicken. Let me tell you that this was the worst plate of food I ever had in my life. And you know that when your hungry you eat anything well this was an exemption. The meat was very saggy and the sauce for the chicken was plain with out taste. W ended up not eating it and order from another restaurant.

Came here with a group of friends for dinner & left very satisfied. Though the décor is not as flashy as other restaurants in Chinatown, in no way does it reflect the food. Right off the bat, the owner was very welcoming & nice when we asked for recommendations as to what to eat. When the food came out, I quickly noticed how big the portions were. Some restaurants in Chinatown are stingy with how much they give you but not Lee Wing Wah. I ordered the honey walnut shrimp & it was delicious. The waiters seemed very attentive & refills of water were not an issue at all. All in all, this restaurant is one of the most slept on restaurants in Chinatown. If you’re looking for a restaurant with good food, good prices, and huge portions, Lee Wing Wah is the place to go!

Spent a few hours in Chinatown and the four of us settled on Lee Wing. Its a big place and we were seated immediately. They moved up upstairs to tables that seat 8 or 10. There weren’t many people there and service was slow but okay. The prices were reasonable and they offered the lunch specials on a sunday. I have the General Tso chicken and an eggroll for 5.95 you really can’t beat that. The food was average to slightly above average for chinese but the prices were excellent.

Delicious comfort food. Not fancy but never disappoints. My family loves coming here for the Salt & Pepper Squid and also the Salt & Pepper Shrimp. They make it just right, nice and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The food never disappoints. This is your basic Cantonese café. I have noticed over the years that the same staff remains, there is very little if any employee turnover. This is both a good and a bad thing. Good because the restaurant is efficient and everyone knows the menu. Bad because I have noticed that the service can be very indifferent. Over the years the service seems to have become impersonal. The food servers seem to just not care anymore. It’s a job. Clock in and clock out. Hopefully someone on staff someday will discover some passion about their job. In the meantime I will continue to come here because the food is very tasty!

All of their tapioca is made with fresh fruit! Finally a place that does this. The tapioca was 5 stars all the way and probably the best tapioca I’ve had in Chicago!

This is our go to Chinese spot! My Gf insists on always ordering Empress Chicken which is a sweet breaded chicken dish similar to Orange Chicken and Schezwan Green Beans which are mildly spicy as they’re cooked with red peppers and dried shrimps. Both are good in my opinion I’d rate them 4⁄5. I’ve been to Hong Kong and eaten many authentic dishes over the years, since half of the dishes we order are catered towards Americana-Chinese food I can’t say its truly authentic but some dishes are authentic in my opinion. The beer and drinks are cheaply priced and you always get a pot of tea. Tip — Leave the tea pot lid open to get it refilled. Also if you want to go with tradition always fill your guest tea cup first whenever empty! I would dine in for sure as the food is half as good take out!

My sister found out about Lee Wing Wah by asking Chinese people where they eat. Lee Wing Wah is located @ 2147 S China Pl, Chicago, IL always has awesome food. This has become one our family hangouts for Chinese food. We almost always order seafood as it is always fresh(right from the tank to table) seasoned & cooked to perfection. We always order family style that way you get to try some of everything. The food was awesome as always. We had out of town visitors. My niece from Mizzou and her friend, my cousin from LA and his wife, son & girlfriend were all here. We had clams w/black bean sauce, lobster, walnut shrimp, salt & spicy squid, fried tofu, salt & spicy smelt, fish filet cooked with garlic, ginger & Chinese broccoli, shrimp with black bean garlic sauce, walnut shrimp. I would give their food a solid 4 – 4.5. Stay with the seafood you can’t miss Other things like the interior décor is kind of dated and the bathrooms are usually kind of disgusting(need to clean them) but I don’t go there for the bathrooms I go there to eat their food. Still it would be nice to find an updated and clean washroom to use. The service is usually pretty good maybe because we are regulars, but that does vary depending on who your server is and the time of the day & the size of your party. Because of the discrepancies in the service and the filthy restroom. I am giving this restaurant 3.5 stars

GREATFORGROUPS: I brought my youth group to Chinatown and just planned to find a place when there. There were 25 of us. I stopped in to inquire, and they already knew we were looking for a place for our group and said they’d be happy to accommodate us. They set up the tables very comfortably. HELPEDWITHORDERING: I started to look for dishes to order for us all, family style, but the lady ended up offering a much better arrangement — a complete meal for a very reasonably negotiated price. PARTICULARFOOD: The food was wonderful, all the youth loved it, and what stood out were the fried fish fillets they served. It tasted like freshly caught fish. Just wonderful. I’d highly recommend this place in Chinatown Square, and especially for large groups.

My boyfriend and I went here on a date due to a spontaneity spree that day. We waited to be seated, which was a little bit of a turn off because there were a lot of booths open. When we were seated, we searched their menu. We wanted to try something different other than«Orange Chicken.» We got the salt and pepper squid and the Bird’s nest(a fried noodle bowl that holds a seafood mix). We waited for the waitress to take our order and then it was another long wait for the food. The food was a let down. The fried squid wasn’t that crispy and was really bland. The bird’s nest wasn’t good either. The sauce was a clear mucous and the shrimp and vegetables lacked a lot of flavor. We don’t like wasting food and we usually take leftovers, but this time, we chose to leave the food behind. We both knew that we were not going to be heating up that food for dinner. I think we ordered the wrong food, because the other tables were ordering some sort of crayfish dish and it was coming out sizzling hot. Maybe if I feel like giving this place another try, I’ll go for the crayfish instead.

This place is deplorable. First, the service was horrible. I went when there was almost no one in the restaurant, and yet it took them 5 minutes to make me one of their fruit smoothies. I had ordered the coconut red bean tapioca, which at other restaurants, I have enjoyed. But not this restaurant! All the beans were frozen solid, and all the ice had clumped together. Essentially, I felt as if I was drinking just coconut milk. Second, the ambiance is horrible. Their tables employ makeshift pieces of wood for the spinning tray. On top of that, they use cheap plastic sheets to cover their tables for easy clean-up. How un-classy is that? Overall, the place looked somewhat tacky. The only redeeming feature of this restaurant is that some of the food isn’t that bad. My group ordered a lot of dishes, and a couple of them tasted very decent, but not good enough to be in my recent memory. I do remember, however, tasting the saltiest piece of imitation crab meat I had ever had.

My friend and I came here one gloomy Saturday afternoon for lunner/dinch. Since this was the only restaurant in Chinatown Square that wasn’t completely deserted or full of non-asians, we decided to give it a try. Great first impression! The host, and probably owner, was so friendly and greeted us super nicely. We sat down and I think they served us water/tea pretty instantaneously. They gave us a few minutes to peruse the menu. We each ordered a fruit shake. My friend got a mango-watermelon with boba(it’s pretty sweet that they let you mix two flavors). She seemed to really like it. I got the coconut red bean and it was the most disgusting thing ever. So artificial and the red beans were like a kidney bean-red bean hybrid instead of Azuki beans! Not to mention they were hard and not paste-y at all. Not worth the $ 3.50 + tax and tip at all. I almost ordered from their liquor menu but refrained. It was the same price, if not cheaper, than the regular drinks. Seriously, a cosmo for $ 3?! Then, the waitresses started getting impatient. First of all, they gave us less than five minutes. I don’t think we were taking that long. Secondly, the restaurant was over half empty. It was 4 pm, don’t know what the rush was. Thirdly, like many Chinese restaurants, their menu is an overwhelming mess of dishes. Not my fault they decided to throw every possible combination of meat and vegetables on there. Finally, no matter how long a customer is taking, it is just plain inhospitable for the server to just stand by the table and stare at us while we ordered, especially since we had already bought drinks. I got the beef with black bean sauce and my friend got the orange chicken. She seemed to like it. I’d say my dish was mediocre at best. It was really sweet and tasted like a crappy $ 5 dollar lunch special at your local take-out joint. Very non-authentic and greasy. Definitely not worth over $ 10. During the middle of our meal, half the restaurant got those special weather alerts on their phones and it started pouring. It was still pouring when we finished and they couldn’t get rid of us quickly enough. Neither of us had umbrellas and half their tables were empty! So I don’t see why they had to be so rude about making us leave. I paid $ 20 for a gross meal. They didn’t even pack up our food completely so it spilled out all over our bags and we ended up just tossing everything when we got home. Don’t come here, I know I won’t ever again.
